The DS-80 is an SDME (Speed and Distance Measuring Equipment)utilizing the Doppler Effect principle. It complies with the latest IMO,IEC and ISO standards as well as the rules of theclassification societies.

Unlike an electromagnetic speed log orother type, this equipment does notrequire a sensor protruding throughthe ship hull; this greatly reducesthe routine maintenance. Anotherspecial feature is the capability tomeasure own ship speeds at

dead slow movement with highaccuracy. The pair-beams at1 MHz sonic frequencyensures accuracy in roughweather.The primary function isavailable without any operatoraction; just keep the powerswitch on. The user-friendlymenu ensures easy adjustment ofall functions. Auxiliary functionssuch as resetting the Distance Runand speed offset are easy on the menu.

Optional analogue and digital remote displaysare available to enhance the convenience ofnavigation. A new transducer was designed with the samedimensions as the existing DS-70 transducer. It may be fitted to the hulldirectly or with a gate valve.
