DSR 2-600 / 1800 XOZ
A side face grinding machine with two vertically installed
grinding spindles. These
build in motor grinding spindles have variable r. p.m. and are
mounted onto two
cross slides. Each of them can move individually in vertical and
horizontal direc-
tion. With help of the Ø 600 mm grinding wheels and the cross
slide movements,
the machine can be set to the geometry of the work pieces. This
machine is mainly
used to grind the small and the big end of connecting rods, no
matter if these are
for passenger cars or for truck engines. For example, the small
end and big end of
coplanar or non coplanar connecting rods of commercial and
passenger vehicles
can be machined on both sides and the trapezium as well.
Process
The parts move by means of a rotary index table which has a
diameter of 1.800 mm,
by 180° into the grinding area. The connecting rods are ground
while they are clamped
in fixtures. For this purpose 4/8 jigs for two parts each are
mounted on the rotary index
table. In step sequence two jigs are in the grinding area, to
grind the first side of the
connecting rods and in the other jig the second side is machined
simultaneously.
Each of the two grinding wheels will grind small end and big end
of the connecting rod.
Automation
During the grinding process the other sets of fixtures are
outside the grinding area for
loading, off loading and turnover of the work pieces. This can
be done by means of a
robot or gantry loader or manually.
After a second 180° rotation of the index table the next
sequence will start.
