دعاؤه لوداع شهر رمضان Supplication 45 from Sahiacutefa al-Kaacutemilah

بسم اهللا الرحمن الرحيمIn the name of Allaacuteh the Beneficent the Merciful

مد وحلى مل عم صمداللـهحآل م O Allaacuteh bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad

الجزاء في يرغب لا من يا اللهم O Allaacuteh O He who desires no repayment

ا وي نلا م مدنلى يطاء عالع O He who shows no remorse at bestowal

ا وي نكاف لا مئي هدبلى عاء عالسو O He who rewards not His servant tit for tat

كاء منتتداب Your kindness is a new beginning

و كفوفضل عت Your pardon gratuitous bounty

و كتقوبل عدع Your punishment justice

و كاؤة قضرخي Your decree a choice for the best

بمن عطاءك تشب لم أعطيت إن If You bestow You stain not Your bestowal with obligation

إن و تعنم لم كني كعنديا معت and if You withhold You withhold not in transgression

كرشت من ككرش و تأن هتمأله ككرش You show gratitude to him who thanks while You have inspired him to thank You

كافئ وت نم كمدح و تأن هتلمع كدمح You reward him who praises You though You have taught him Your praise

رتسلى تع نم لو شئت هتحفض You cover him whom if You willed You would expose

و ودجلى تع نم لو شئت هتعنم and You are generous toward him from whom if You willed You would withhold

ا ومل كلاهأه كةللفضي منح ع ونالم Both are worthy of Your exposure and withholding

رغي أنك تينب الكلى أفعالتفضل ع but You have founded Your acts upon gratuitous bounty

و تيرأج كترلى قدز عاوالتج channelled Your power into forbearance

و تلقيت نم اكصبالحلم ع received him who disobeyed You with clemency

و لتهأم نم دفسه قصبالظلم لن and disregarded him who intended wrongdoing against himself

مهظرنتست اتكة إلى بأنابالإن You await their turning back without haste

و كرتت مهلتاجعة إلى مبالتو and refrain from rushing them toward repentance


هالكهم عليك يهلك لكيلا so that the perisher among them may not perish because of You

قى لا وشي بنعتكم مقيهش and the wretched may not be wretched through Your favour

إليه الإعذار طول عن إلا but only after Your prolonged excusing him

و دعف بادرجة ته الحليع and successive arguments against him

كرمي يا وكعف من كرما as an act of generosity through Your pardon O Generous

ة وائدع من طفكا عي ليمح and an act of kindliness through Your tenderness O Clement

تالذي أن تحفت ادكابا لعبإلى ب فوكع It is You who have opened for Your servants a door to Your pardon

و هتمية سبالتو which You have named lsquorepentancersquo

و لتعلى جع اب ذلكالب You have placed upon that door

عنه يضلوا لئلا وحيك من دليلا a pointer from Your revelation

اسمك تبارك لتفق lest they stray from it You have said (blessed are Your names)

نصوحا توبة الله إلى توبوا Repent toward God with unswerving repentance


سيئاتكم عنكم يكفر أن ربكم عسى It may be that Your Lord will acquit of your evil deeds

و خلكمدات ينري ججت ا منتهحت ارهالأن and will admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow

موزي لا يخي النبي الله و وا الذيننآم هعم upon the day when God will not degrade the Prophet and those who have faith along with him

مهورى نعسي نيب ديهمأي و انهممبأي their light running before them and on their right hands

لنا اغفر و نورنا لنا أتمم ربنا يقولون and they say lsquoOur Lord complete for us our light and forgive us

لى إنككل ع يقدير ء ش Surely You art powerful over everythingrsquo (668)

المنزل ذلك دخول أغفل من عذر فما What is the excuse of him who remains heedless of entering that house

بدح عاب فتالب ة والدليل إقام after the opening of the door and the setting up of the pointer

و تالذي أن تم في زدالسو It is You who have raised the price

لعبادك نفسك على against Yourself to the advantage of Your servants

ريدت مهحفي رب تهمراجتم لك desiring their profit in their trade with You

و مهزة فوبالوفاد كليع ة وادالزي كمن their triumph through reaching You and their increase on account of You


فقلت كاربا تكمس و تاليعت for You have said (blessed is Your Name and high are You exalted)

ناء مة جنسبالح فله رشا عثالهأم Whoso brings a good deed shall have ten the like of it

و ناء مى فلا بالسيئة جزجا إلا يمثله and whoso brings an evil deed shall only be recompensed the like of it (6160)

و ثل قلتم فقون الذينني مالهوأم You have said lsquoThe likeness of those who expend their wealth

الله سبيل في in the way of Allah

سنابل سبع نبتتأ حبة كمثل is as the likeness of a grain of corn that sprouts seven ears

حبة مائة سنبلة كل في in every ear a hundred grains

و الله اعفضي ناء لمشي so Allah multiplies unto whom He willsrsquo (2261)

و قلت نالذي ذا م قرضي ضا اللهنا قرسح You have said lsquoWho is he that will lend to Allah a good loan

اعفهضفي افا لهعة أضكثري and He will multiply it for him manifoldrsquo (2245)

وما أنزلت من نظائرهن في القرآنAnd You have sent down in the Qurrsquoaacuten

من تضاعيف الحسناتsimilar verses on the multiplying of good deeds


و تالذي أن مهللتد لكبقو من بكغي It is You who have pointed them through Your speech from Your Unseen

و غيبكرفيه الذي ت مظهح and Your encouragement in which lies their good fortune

عنهم سترته لو ما على toward that which - had You covered it from them -

لم ركهدت مهارصأب their eyes would not have perceived

و عه لمت أسمهاعم their ears would not have heard

و لم قهلحت مهامهأو and their imaginations would not have grasped

وني فقلتاذكر كمأذكر for You have said lsquoRemember Me and I will remember you

وا وكرلي اش ون لا وكفرت and be you not thankless towards Mersquo (2152)

و قلت لئن متكرش نكملأزيد You have said lsquoIf you are thankful surely I will increase you

و لئن متذابي إن كفرديد علش but if you are thankless My chastisement is surely terriblersquo (147)

و وني قلتعاد جبتأس لكم And You have said lsquoSupplicate Me and I will respond to you

عبادتي عن يستكبرون الذين إن surely those who are too proud of My worship


داخرين جهنم سيدخلون shall enter Jahannam in utter humility (4060)

تميفس اءكعة دادعب و كهرارا تتكباس Hence You have named supplicating You lsquoworshiprsquo and refraining from it lsquowaxing proudrsquo

و تعدولى تكه عرت and You have threatened that the refraining from it would yield

داخرين جهنم دخول entrance into Jahannam in utter abjection

وكفذكر نكبم So they remember You for Your kindness

و وككرش لكبفض they thank You for Your bounty

و كوعد ركبأم they supplicate You by Your command

دقوا وصت طلبا لك زيدكلم and they donate for You in order to seek Your increase

ا وفيه تكان مهاتجن من بكغض in all this lies their deliverance from Your wrath

و مهزفو اكبرض and their triumph through Your good pleasure

و ل لولوق دخلوقا مخم فسه منن Were any creature himself to direct another creature

منك عبادك عليه دللت الذي مثل على to the like of that to which You Yourself have directed Your servants


بالإحسان صوفامو كان he would be described by beneficence

وتا وعنان متنبالام ودا ومحان بكل ملس qualified by kindness and praised by every tongue

فلك دما الحم جدفي و دكمب حذهم So to You belongs praise as long as there is found a way to praise You

ا وم قيد بملفظ للح دمحبه ت and as long as there remains for praising words by which You may be praised

نى وعم رفصنه يإلي and meanings which may be spent in praise

عباده إلى تحمد من يا O He who shows Himself praiseworthy to His servants

الفضل و بالإحسان through beneficence and bounty

و مهرن غمبالم ل والطو flooding them with kindness and graciousness

نعمتك فينا أفشى ما How much of Your favour has been spread about among us

غ وبا أسنليع كمنت Your kindness lavished upon us

ا وصنأخ ببرك and Your goodness singled out for us

اصطفيت الذي لدينك هديتنا You have guided us to Your religion which You have chosen


و التي ملتك تيضتار Your creed with which You are pleased

و بيلكالذي س هلتس and Your path which You have made smooth

ا ونتصرالزلفة ب كيلد and You have shown us proximity to You

ول وصك إلى الوتكامر and arrival at Your generosity

الوظائف تلك صفايا من جعلت أنت و اللهم O Allaacuteh among the choicest of those duties

ائص وصخ وض تلكالفر and the most special of those obligations

رهان شضمالذي ر You have appointed the month of Ramadan

هتصصتاخ ائر منور سالشه which You have singled out from other months

و هتيرخت ميع منة جمنالأز ور والده chosen from among all periods and eras

و هتلى آثرقات كل عة أوالسن and preferred over all times of the year

النور و القرآن من فيه أنزلت بما through the Qurrsquoaacuten and the Light which You sent down within it

و فتاعفيه ض ان منالإمي the faith which You multiplied by means of it


و فرتفيه ض ام منالصي the fasting which You obligated therein

و تغبفيه ر ام منالقي the standing in prayer which You encouraged at its time

و للتفيه أج لة منر ليالقد and the Night of Decree which You magnified therein

شهر ألف من خير هي التي the night which is better than a thousand months (973)

الأمم سائر على به آثرتنا ثم Through it You have preferred us over the other communities

ا ونتطفيله اصون بفضل دالملل أه and through its excellence You have chosen us to the exclusion of the people of the creeds

نهاره بأمرك فصمنا We fasted by Your command in its daylight

ا ونقم نكوبع لهلي we stood in prayer with Your help in its night

رضنيعتامه مبصي امه وا قيلم presenting ourselves by its fasting and its standing to the

رحمتك من له عرضتنا mercy which You have held up before us

ا ونببسه تإلي من تكثوبم and we found through it the means to Your reward

و تلي أنا ء المبم غبفيه ر كإلي And You are full of what is sought from You


ادوا الجبم ئلتس من لكفض Munificent with what is asked of Your bounty

إلى القريب نل ماوح كبقر and near to him who strives for Your nearness

و قد ا أقامذا فينه رالشه قامد ممح This month stood among us in a standing place of praise

ا ونحبة صبحور صربم accompanied us with the companionship of one approved

ا ونحبل أراح أفضبالم أرالعني and profited us with the most excellent profit of the worldrsquos creatures

وقته تمام عند فارقنا قد ثم Then it parted from us at the completion of its time

قطاع ودته انم فاء وده ودع the end of its term and the fulfillment of its number

نحفن وهدعوم اعود نز مع اقها فرنليع So we bid farewell to it with the farewell of one whose parting pains us

ا وغمن ا ونشحأو افهصرنا انع whose leaving fills us with gloom and loneliness

ا ونلزم له امفوظ الذمحالم and to whom we have come to owe a safeguarded claim

ة ومرعية الحرالم an observed inviolability

ق وقضي الحالم and a discharged right


نحقائلون فن السلام كليا عي رههالل ش رالأكب ا وي ائه عيدليأو We say Peace be upon you O greatest month of God O festival of His friends

السلام كليا عي موب أكرحصم قات منالأو Peace be upon you O most noble of accompanying times

ا وي ريخ رشالأيام في ه ات والساع O best of months in days and hours

السلام كليع ر منهش تبال فيه قرالآم Peace be upon you month in which expectations come near

و تشرال فيه نمالأع and good works are scattered about

موجودا قدره جل قرين من عليك لامالس Peace be upon you comrade who is great in worth when found

و عأفج هفقودا فقدم and who torments through absence when lost

و وجرم آلم اقهفر anticipated friend whose parting gives pain

السلام كليع أليف من سقبلا آنر مفس Peace be upon you familiar who brought comfort in coming thus making happy

و شحقضيا أونض مفم who left loneliness in going thus giving anguish

السلام كليع من اورمج قتفيه ر القلوب و فيه قلت وبالذن Peace be upon you neighbour in whom hearts became tender and sins became few

السلام كليع اصر منان نلى أعطان عالشي Peace be upon you helper who aided against Satan


احب وهل صل سبان سسالإح companion who made easy the paths of good-doing

السلام كليا عم قاء أكثرتالله ع فيك Peace be upon you - How many became freedmen of God within you

ا وم دعأس نى معر كتمرح بك How happy those who observed the respect due to you

السلام كليا عكان م اكحوب أمللذن Peace be upon you - How many sins you erased

و كرتاع أسووب لأنيالع How many kinds of faults you covered over

السلام كليا عأ كان ملكلى طوع رمنيجالم Peace be upon you - How drawn out were you for the sinners

و كبيور في أهدص مننيؤالم How awesome were you in the hearts of the faithful

السلام كليع ر منهلا ش هافسنت الأيام Peace be upon you month with which no days compete

السلام كليع ر منهش وه ر كل منلام أمس Peace be upon you month which is peace in all affairs

السلام كليع رة كريه غيباحصالم Peace be upon you you whose companionship is not disliked

ة ذميم لا وسلابالم you whose friendly mixing is not blamed

السلام كليا عكم تفدا ونليكات عربالب Peace be upon you just as you have entered upon us with blessings


و لتنا غسع سنطيئات دالخ and cleansed us of the defilement of offenses

السلام كليع ردع غيوما مرب Peace be upon you - you are not bid farewell in annoyance

وك لا ورتم هامأما صيس nor is your fasting left in weariness

السلام كليع طلوب منلق مقته بو Peace be upon you object of seeking before your time

ون وزحه مليل عته قبفو object of sorrow before your passing

السلام كليع كم وء منس رفص نا بكع Peace be upon you - How much evil was turned away from us through you

و كم ر منيخ أفيض ا بكنليع How much good flowed upon us because of you

السلام كليع لى ولة عر ليالقد Peace be upon you and upon the Night of Decree

شهر ألف من خير هي التي which is better than a thousand months (973)

السلام كليا عا كان منصرس أحبالأم كليع Peace be upon you - How much we craved you yesterday

د وا أشقنوغدا ش كإلي How intensely we shall yearn for you tomorrow

السلام كليع ل وىع لكالذي فض اهنرمح Peace be upon you and upon your bounty which has now been made unlawful to us


لى واض عم من كاتكرب اهنلبس and upon your blessings gone by which have now been stripped away from us

به شرفتنا الذي الشهر ذاه أهل إنا اللهم O Allaacuteh we are the people of this month Through it You have ennobled us

ا ونفقتو نكبم له هل حنياء جقيالأش هقتو and given us success because of Your kindness while the wretched are ignorant of its time

وا ورمح قائهملش لهفض Made unlawful to them is its bounty because of their wretchedness

تلي أنا وا منتبه آثر رفته منعم You are the patron of the knowledge of it by which You have preferred us

و يداهنت له نته منس and its prescribed practices to which You have guided us

و ا قدنليوت فيقكوبت We have undertaken through Your giving success

هامصي و هاملى قيقصري عت its fasting and its standing in prayer but with shortcomings

ا ونقليلا فيه أدي كثري من and we have performed little of much

بالإساءة إقرارا الحمد فلك اللهم O Allaacuteh so to You belongs praise in admission of evil doing

افا وترة اعاعبالإض and confession of negligence

و لك ا منقلوبن قدم عالند and to You belongs remorse firmly knitted in our hearts


و ا منتنألسن قتذار صدالاع and seeking of pardon sincerely uttered by our tongues

التفريط من فيه أصابنا ما على فأجرنا Reward us in spite of the neglect that befell us in this month

فيه المرغوب الفضل به نستدرك أجرا with a reward through which we may reach the bounty desired from it

و اضتعبه ن اع منور أنالذخ رحه وصالمليع and win the varieties of its craved stores

و جبا أولن كذرلى عا عا منفيه قصر من قكح Make incumbent upon us Your pardon for our falling short of Your right in this month

لغ وا ابارنما بأعم نيا بدينأي ر منهان شضمقبل رالم and make our lives which lie before us reach the coming month of Ramadhaacuten

بلغتناه فإذا Once You have made us reach it

العبادة من أهله أنت ما تناول على فأعنا help us perform the worship of which You are worthy

ا وام إلى أدنا القيبم حقهتسي ة منالطاع cause us to undertake the obedience which You deserve

ر وا أجلن الح منل صما العكون مكا يرد and grant us righteous works that we may fulfill

الدهر شهور من الشهرين في حقكل Your right in these two months of the months of time

إثم أو لمم من هذا شهرنا في به ألممنا ما و اللهم O Allaacuteh as for the small and large sins which we have committed in this our month


ا أوناقعفيه و ب منذن ا ونبسفيه اكت طيئة منخ the misdeeds into which we have fallen and the offenses which we have earned

أنفسنا فيه ظلمنا نسيان على أو منا تعمد على purposefully or in forgetfulness wronging ourselves thereby

غيرنا من حرمة به انتهكنا أو or violating the respect due to others

آله و محمد على فصل bless Muhammad and his Household

ا ونرتاس ركبست cover us over with Your covering

و فنا اعع فوكبع pardon us through Your pardoning

ا لا ونصبنن فيه تيلأع الشامتني place us not before the eyes of the gloaters because of that

ط لا وسبا تنليفيه ع نألس الطاعنني stretch not toward us the tongues of the defamers

ا وملنعتا اسكون بمحطة ي and employ us in that which will alleviate

ة وا كفارلم تكرفيه منا أن and expiate whatever You disapprove from us within it

أفتكلا التي بر فدنت through Your clemency which does not run out

و لكلا الذي فض قصني and Your bounty which does not diminish


آله و محمد على صل اللهم O Allaacuteh bless Muhammad and his Household

و ربا اجنتصيبا مرنهبش redress our being afflicted by our month

و اركا بم في لنوا يعيدن ا وفطرن bless us in this day of our festival and our fast-breaking

و اهحب أملذن make it one of the best of days that have passed over us the greatest in attracting Your pardon

و اهحأم بلذن and the most effacing toward sins

و ا اغفرا لنم فيخ ا منوبنذن ا وم لنع and forgive us our sins both the concealed and the public

خطايانا من الشهر هذا بانسلاخ اسلخنا اللهم O Allaacuteh with the passing of this month make us pass forth from our offenses

ا ونرجوجه أخربخ ا منيئاتنس with its departure make us depart from our evil deeds

ا ولنعاج د منعله أسبه أه and appoint us thereby among its most felicitous people

ل وزأجما همفيه قس و فرهمظا أوح همن the most plentiful of them in portion and the fullest of them in share

رعايته حق الشهر هذا رعى من و اللهم O Allaacuteh when any person observes this month as it should be observed

فظ وح هتمرق حا ححفظه safeguards its inviolability as it should be safeguarded


و وده قامدق بحا حامهقي attends to its bounds as they should be attended to

اتقى و هوبق ذنا حقاتهت fears its misdeeds as they should be feared

أو قربت كة إليببقر or seeks nearness to You with any act of nearness-seeking

تبجأو اكرض له which makes incumbent upon him Your good pleasure

و طفتع كتمحه رليع and bends toward him Your mercy

با فهلن مثله من دكجو give to us the like [of that] from Your wealth

ا وطنأع افهعأض من لكفض and bestow it upon us in multiples through Your bounty

غيضلا ي لكفإن فض for Your bounty does not diminish

تنقص بل تفيضو إن خزائنك لا Your treasuries do not decrease but overflow

ادن إن وعم انكسى لا إحفنت the mines of Your beneficence are not exhausted

إن و طاءكطاء عنا للعهالم and Your bestowal is the bestowal full of delight

آله و محمد على صل لهمال O Allaacuteh bless Muhammad and his Household


و با اكتور مثل لنأج نم هامص and write for us the like of the wages of him who fasted in it

أو بدعت م إلى فيه لكوة يامالقي or worshipped You within it until the Day of Resurrection

فطرنا يوم في إليك نتوب إنا اللهم O Allaacuteh we repent to You in our day of fast-breaking

سرورا و عيدا للمؤمنني جعلته الذي which You have appointed for the faithful a festival and a joy

ل ولأه عا ملتكمجم دا وشتحم and for the people of Your creed a time of assembly and gathering

ب كل منذن اهنبأذن from every misdeed we did

وء أوس اهلفنأس ill work we sent ahead

اطر أوخ رش اهنرمأض or evil thought we secretly conceived

ذنب إلى رجوع على ينطوي لا من توبة the repentance of one who does not harbour a return to sin

لا و ودعا يهدعطيئة في بخ and who afterwards will not go back to offense

الشك من خلصت نصوحا توبة an unswerving repentance rid of doubt

اب وتيالار and wavering


عليها ثبتنا و عنا ارض و منا فتقبلها So accept it from us be pleased with us and fix us within it

الوعيد عقاب خوف زقناار اللهم O Allaacuteh provide us with fear of the threatened punishment

و قواب شود ثوعوالم and yearning for the promised reward

به ندعوك ما لذة نجد حتى so that we may find the pleasure of that for which we supplicate You

ة وا كأبم كجريتسن همن and the sorrow of that from which we seek sanctuary in You

ا ولنعاج كدعن من التوابني And place us with You among the repenters

الذين تبجأو مله كبتحم those upon whom You have made Your love obligatory

و قبلت مهة منعاجرم تكطاع and from whom You have accepted the return to obeying You

العادلني أعدل يا O Most Just of the just

آبائنا عن تجاوز اللهم O Allaacuteh show forbearance toward our fathers

ا واتنأمه ل وا أهميعا ديننج and our mothers and all the people of our religion

نم لفس مهمن و نم رم إلى غبوة يامالقي those who have gone and those who will pass by until the Day of Resurrection


آله و نبينا محمد على صل همالل O Allaacuteh bless our prophet Muhammad and his Household

المقربني ملائكتك على صليت كما as You have blessed Your angels brought near

ل وه صليع آله و bless him and his Household

المرسلني أنبيائك على صليت كما as You have blessed Your prophets sent out


الصالحني عبادك على صليت كما as You have blessed Your righteous servants

ل وأفض من ا ذلكب ير المنيالع - and better than that O Lord of the worlds

بركتها تبلغنا صلاة a blessing whose benediction will reach us

ا والننا يهفعن و ابجتسا يا لهناؤعد whose benefit will attain to us and through which our supplication may be granted

إنك مأكر نم غبه رإلي You are the most generous of those who are beseeched

أكفى و نكل موه تليع the most sufficient of those in whom confidence is had

طى وأع نئل مس لهف منض the most bestowing of those from whom bounty is asked


و تلى أنكل ع يقدير ء ش and You are powerful over everything (326)

اللـهم صل على محمد وآل محمدO Allaacuteh bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad


إن و تعنم لم كني كعنديا معت and if You withhold You withhold not in transgression
