دعــــــاء یـســتـشــیـرDUA’A YASTASHEER

THE SUPPLICATION OF YASTASHEER

Ibna Tawus in his book Muhaj al Dawat and Kafami in his book Misbah narrate this dua׳a on the authority of Imam Ali ibna abi Talib who learned it from the Holy Prophet.The Holy Prophet advised him to recite this dua׳a regularly, whether in prosperity or poverty, till death, because it unveils the secrets of creation and divine strategy. Words can not describe its merits. Intelligent can not describe its meanings. No sooner someone begins to recite it, Almighty Allah sends blessings, and his mercy surrounds him, peace and tranquillity descend upon him. The sound of this dua׳a moves to and from around the arsh, its direct destination. All his desired are fulfilled. His needs are taken care of. He gets freedom from wants and is kept safe from hardships and misfortunes. His mind opens up new dimensions of contemplation. On the day of judgement he will be received by Allah with respect and honour.

It cures insanity if recited before a mad man. It relives pain of childbirth if recited before the expectant mother.

If recited on forty Fridays consecutively all sins are forgiven. It cures sickness and disperses sorrows.For him who recites it before going to sleep, Allah appoints one thousand angels to pray for him till morning. He who recites it and dies within 24 hours, is treated like a martyr. It is recommended that it be performed with ablution.

MAANIR-RAH'EEMIn the name of Allah,

the Beneficent, the Merciful.

ل آ و د محــم عـلـى صـل ـهم لـل افـر جـهم ـل عج و د محــم

AL-LAAHUM-MA S'AL-LI A'LAA MUH'AM-MADIW-WA AALI

MUH'AM-MADIW-WA A'J-JIL FARAJAHUM

May Allah’s Greetings and Blessings be upon Muhammad and His Family, and may Allah hasten

their return to be soon

هــو ل إ له إ ل ي ذ ـ ل ا ه لل لحـمـد اAL-H'AM-DU LIL-LAAHIL-LAD'EE

LAAA ILAAHA IL-LAA HOOAll praise is due to Allah, There is no god but He,

لـمبـیـن ا لحـق ا لـلـک اAL-MALIKUL-H'AQ-QUL-MUBEEN

The King, the Truth that makes all things manifest,

ز یــر بل و بـر لـمـد اAL-MUDAB-BIRU BILAA WAZEER

He is the Administrator without any minister,

شـیر ـ یـست ه د عـبا من خلـق ل و ‌WA LAA KHAL-QIM-MIN

I'BAADIHEE YAS-TASHEERAnd without consultation with

any of his servants,

ف صــو مـو غـیـر ل و ل اAL-AW-WALU GHAY-RU

MAW-S'OOFHe is the First, who cannot be described,

لـخلق ا ء فـنـا بعـد قي لـبا ا وWAL-BAAQEE BAA'-DA

FANAAA-IL-KHAL-QHe is Eternal and will live forever, [even]

after the annihilation of all creatures,

ـة ـ بو بـی لـر ا لـعـظـیـم اAL-A'Z'EEMUR-RUBOOBIY-YAH

He is the greatest Cherisher and Sustainer,

رضـیـن ل ا و ت ا و ـمـا لس ا نـو ر NOORUS-SAMAAWAATI

WAL-ARAZ''EEN The Light of the heavens and the earths,

عـهما مـبـتـد و طـر هما فا وWA FAAT'IRUHUMAA WA MUB-

TADIU'HUMAAAnd their Creator and Maker out of nothing,

خـلـقـهما عمد بغــیـر BIGHAY-RI A'MADIN

KHALAQAHUMAAHe created both of them

without any pillars,

فـتــقـا فـتـقـهما وWA FATAQAHUMAA FAT-QAA

And separated them a proper separation.

مـره بأ ت ئعا طـا ت ا و ما لس ا مت فـقاFAQAAMATIS-SAMAAWAATU

T'AAA-IA'ATIM BIAM-RIHThus the heavens became stable in

obedience to His commandment,

ر ضـــو ن ل ا ت ستقـر ا وء لـما ا فـو ق ا ـ ه د تـا و بـأ

WAS-TAQAR-RATIL-ARAZ''OONA BIAW-TAADIHAA

FAW-QAL-MAAA’-And the earths became fixed on the surface of the water with their pegs.

فــی ر بــنـا عـل ثم لـعـلی ا ت ا و ـمــا لس ا

THUM-MA A'LAA RAB-BUNAA FIS-SAMAAWAATIL-U'LAA

Then our Lord subdued the high heavens,

سـتـو ی ا لعـر ش ا عـلی حمن لـر اAR-RAH'-MAANU

A'LAL-A'R-SHIS-TAWAAThe Most Gracious is firmly established

on the throne (of authority).

مـا و ت ا و ـــمـا لس ا فـی مـا لـه مـا و بـیـنــهمــا مـا و رض ل ا فـی

ـری ـ لـث ا تـحـت LAHOO MAA FIS-SAMAAWAATI WA MAA FIL-AR-Z''I WA MAA

BAY-NAHUMAA WA MAA TAH'-TATH-THARAA

Everything that is in the heavens and in the earth, and in between them and what

is below the earth belongs to Him.

ل ـه لـل ا نت أ نـک بأ شـــهد أ نا فـأ ضــعـت و لـمـا فــع ر ا

FA-ANA ASH-HADU BIAN-NAKA AN-TAL-LAAHU LAA RAAFIA'

LIMAA WAZ''AA'-TSo, I bear witness that verily

You are Allah, There is none to elevate what You have lowered,

ر فـعـت لـمـا ضــع ا و ل وWA LAA WAAZ''IA' LIMAA RAFAA'-T

And no one to lower what You have elevated,

لـلت ذ أ لـمـن مـعــز ل وWA LAA MUI'Z-ZA LIMAN

AD'-LAL-TAnd no one to exalt him whom

You leave in disgrace,

ز ت عـز أ لـمـن ل مـذ ل وWA LAA MUD'IL-LA LIMAN AA'-ZAZ-T

And no one to bring into disgrace him whom You exalt,

عـطـیـت أ لـمـا نـع مـا ل وWA LAA MAANIA' LIMAA

AA'-T'AY-TAnd no one to prevent him upon

whom You bestow Your favour,

مـنـعـت لـمـا مـعـطـي ل وWA LAA MUA'-T'IYA LIMAA

MANAA'-TAnd no one to bestow anything,

which You have withheld.

نـت أ ل إ لـه إ ل ـه لـل ا نـت أ وWA AN-TAL-LAAHU LAAA

ILAAHA IL-LAAA AN-TYou are Allah, there is no god but You,

تکـن لـم ذ إ کـنـت ـة ـ مــبــنــی ء ســــمـــا

KUN-TA ID' LAM TAKUN SAMAAA-UM-MAB-NIY-YAH

Who existed when there was neither the stable sky,

ة ـ حـی مـد رض أ ل وWA LAA AR-Z''UM-MAD-H'IY-YAH

Nor the broad earth,

ـــئـة مـضـی شــمس ل وWA LAA SHAM-SUM-MUZ''EEE-AH

Nor the brilliant sun,

مـظـلــم لــیــل ل وWA LAA LAY-LUM-MUZ'LIM

Nor the dark night,

ء مــضــي ر نهـــا ل وWA LAA NAHAARUM-MUZ''EEE’-

Nor the bright day,

ــي لــج بـحــر ل وWA LAA BAH'-RUL-LUJ-JIYY

Nor the vast and stormy sea,

س ر ا جـبـل ل وWA LAA JABALUR-RAAS

Nor any sublime and stable mountain,

ر ســـا نجـم ل وWA LAA NAJ-MUN SAAR

Nor any revolving star,

مــنــیــر قـمـر ل وWA LAA QAMARUM-MUNEER

Nor the luminous moon,

تــهــب ر یـــح ل وWA LAA REEH'UN TAHUBB

Nor any blowing wind,

یـســکـب ب ســحـا ل وWA LAA SAH'AABUY-YAS-KUB

Nor any raining cloud,

یــلـمـع بـر ق ل وWA LAA BAR-QUY-YAL-MAA'

Nor flashing lightning,

ـح یــســـب ر عــد ل وWA LAA RAA'-DUY-YUSAB-BIH'

Nor any praising thunder,

س ـ تـنــف ر و ح ل وWA LAA ROOH'UN TANAF-FAS

Not any breathing soul,

یـطـیــر ئــر طـــا ل وWA LAA T'AAA-IRUY-YAT'EER

Nor any flying bird,

ـد تـتــو قـ ر نـا ل وWA LAA NAARUN TATAWAQ-QAD

Nor any blazing fire,

ــر د یـط ء مـــا ل وWA LAA MAAA-UY-YAT'-T'ARID

Nor any flowing water.

ء شـــی کـل قـبـل کـنت KUN-TA QAB-LA KUL-LI SHAY’-

You existed before the existence of everything,

ء شـــی کـل کـو نت وWA KAW-WAN-TA KUL-LA SHAY’-

And You created everything,

ء شـــی کـل عـلـی ر ت قـد وWA QADAR-TA A'LAA KUL-LI SHAY’-

And controlled everything,

ء شـــی کـل عت بتـد ا وWAB-TADAA'-TA KUL-LA SHAY’-

And originated everything,

فـقـرت أ و غـنـیـت أ وWA AGH-NAY-TA WA AF-QAR-T

You enriched some and reduced others to poverty,

حـیـیـت أ و مــت أ وWA AMAT-TA WA AH'-YAY-T

Caused some to die and brought others to life,

بکـیـت أ و ضحکت أ وWA AZ''-H'AK-TA WA AB-KAY-T

And made some people glad and others weep,

سـتـو یـت ا لــعــر ش ا عـلـی وWA A'LAL-A'R-SHIS-TAWAY-T

Verily You rule from the Throne.

و ـه لـل ا یــا ر کت فـتـبـالــیـت تعـا

FATABAARAK-TA YAA AL-LAAHU WA TA-A'ALAY-T

You are of vast blessing, O Allah, You are Great and Supreme.

نت أ ‌ ل إ له إ ل ي ذ ـ ل ا ـه لـل ا نت أAN-TAL-LAAHUL-LAD'EE LAAA

ILAAHA IL-LAAA AN-TYou are Allah and there is

no god other than You,

لـمـعـیـن ا لـخـل ق اAL-KHAL-LAAQUL-MUE'ENYou are the Creator and Supporter,

لـب غـا مـر ک أAM-RUKA GHAALIB

Your Decree is overpowering,

فـذ نا عـلمک وWA I'L-MUKA NAAFID'

And Your Knowledge is penetrating,

غـر یـب ک کـیـد وWA KAY-DUKA GHAREEBAnd Your Strategy is wonderful,

ق د صــا ک عـد و وWA WAA'-DUKA S'AADIQ

And Your Promise is true,

حــق قـو لـک وWA QAW-LUKA H'AQQ

And Your Word is right,

ل عـد حکمک وWA H'UK-MUKA A'D-LAnd Your Command is just,

هـدی مک کـل وWA KALAAMUKA HUDAA

And Your Utterance is right guidance,

نـو ر حـیـک و وWA WAH'-YUKA NOORAnd Your Revelation is light,

ســـعـة ا و رحمـتـک وWA RAH'-MATUKA WAASIA'HAnd Your Mercy is vast and abundant,

عظــیـم عـفـو ک وWA A'F-WUKA A'Z'EEM

And Your Forgiveness is superb,

کــثــیــر فـضــلـک وWA FAZ''-LUKA KATHEER

And Your Grace is excessive,

18

جــز یـل ک ؤ عـطـا وWA A'T'AAUKA JAZEEL

And Your Gift is most respectable,

مــتــیــن حـبـلـک وWA H'AB-LUKA MATEEN

And Your Cord is strong,

عــتــیــد نک مـکـا إ وWA IM-KAANUKA A'TEED

And Your Might is ever ready,

عــز یــز ر ک جـا وWA JAARUKA A'ZEEZ

And Your protege is powerful,

یـد شـــد ســک بأ وWA BA’-SUKA SHADEED

And Your Wrath is severe,

مکــیـد مکـر ک وWA MAK-RUKA MAKEED

And Your Stratagem is entrapping.

شـکـوی کـل ضـع مـو ر ب یـا نت أAN-TA YAA RAB-BI MAW-Z''IU'

KUL-LI SHAK-WAAO Lord! With You are lodged all complaints,

مـل کـل ضــر حـاH'AAZ''IRU KUL-LI MALA’-You are present in all gatherings,

نجـوی کـل هـد شــــا وWA SHAAHIDU KUL-LI NAJ-WAA

And are the witness of all secrets,

جــة حـا کـل مــنــتــهـیMUN-TAHAA KUL-LI H'AAJAHThe ultimate goal of all supplications,

20

ن حــز کـل مـفــر ج MUFAR-RIJU KUL-LI H'UZ-N

The expeller of all sorrows,

مـســـکـیـن کـل غـنـیGHINAA KUL-LI MIS-KEEN

The affluence of every needy person,

ر ب هـا کـل حـصــن H'IS'-NU KUL-LI HAARIB

The stronghold for every refugee,

ئـف خــا کـل ن مـا أAMAANU KUL-LI KHAAA-IF

Security for everyone who is terror-stricken,

ء ــعــفــا لض ا حــر ز H'IR-ZUZ''-Z''UA'FAAA’-

A shield for the weak,

ء لــفــقــر ا ا کـــنــزKAN-ZUL-FUQARAAA’-

A treasure for the indigent,

ء ــا لــغـم ا مـفــر ج MUFAR-RIJUL-GHAM-MAAA’-

The destroyer of grief,

لحـیـن ــا لص ا مـعـیـن MUE'ENUS'-S'AALIH'EEN

The helper of the virtuous.

ر بـنــا ـه لـل ا لـک ذD'AALIKAL-LAAHU RAB-BUNAA

Such is Allah, our lord,

هـــو ل إ ـه ـ لـ إ ل LAAA ILAAHA IL-LAA HOO

There is no god but He.

22

مـن دک عـبـا مـن تکـفـي عـلـیـک ل ـ تـو ک

TAK-FEE MIN I'BAADIKA MAN TAWAK-KALA A'LAY-K

You satisfy such of Your servants as trust unto You.

و بـک ذ ل مـن ر جـا نت أ ولــیـک إ ع تضــر

WA AN-TA JAARU MAL-LAAD'A BIKA WA TAZ''AR-RA-A' ILAY-K

You are the protector of him who is firmly attached to You and humiliates himself before You,

مــن عـصــمـة بــک عـتــصــم ا

I'S'-MATU MANIA'-TAS'AMA BIKA shield for him who seeks refuge with You,

23

بک نـتــصـــر ا مـن صـــر ناNAAS'IRU MANIN-TAS'ARA BIK

The help of him who looks up to You for help,

لـمـن نـو ب لذ ا تـغــفــر ســــتــغــفـر ک ا

TAGH-FIRUD'-D'UNOOBA LIMANIS-TAGH-FARAK

The forgiver of sins for him who begs for Your pardon,

بـرة لـجــبــا ا ر ـا ـ جــبJAB-BAARUL-JABAABIRAH

The Compeller of the tyrants,

ء لــعـظـمــا ا عظـیـم A'Z'EEMUL-U'Z'AMAAA’-The Most Grand of the grand,

ء لـکـبــر ا ا کـبـیـر KABEERUL-KUBARAAA’-

The Most Great of the great,

ت ا د ــــا لس ا ـد ســـــیSAY-YIDUS-SAADAAT

The Master of masters,

لــي لـمـو ا ا مــو لـی MAW-LAL-MAWAALEE

The Lord of lords,

لـمسـتصرخین ا صـر یــخ S'AREEKHUL-MUS-TAS'-RIKHEEN

The Succour of the grieved,

لـمکر و بیـن ا عن منـفس MUNAF-FISUN A'NIL-MAK-ROOBEEN

The Helper of those crying for help,

لـمـضـطـر یـن ا ة عو د مجـیب MUJEEBU DAA'-WATIL-MUZ''-

T'AR-REENThe Responder to the call of the distressed,

مـعـیـن ـــا لس ا ســـمع أAS-MAU'S-SAAMIE'EN

The best of all listeners,

ظـر یـن لـنـا ا بصـــر أAB-S'ARUN-NAAZ'IREEN

The best of all observers,

لـحـا کـمـیـن ا حکم أAH'-KAMUL-H'AAKIMEEN

The best of all judges,

سبـیـن لـحـا ا سـر ع أAS-RAU'L-H'AASIBEENThe most swift of reckoners,

حـمـیـن ا لـر ا ر حـم أAR-H'AMUR-RAAH'IMEEN

The most merciful of all the merciful,

فـر یـن لـغـا ا خـیـر KHAY-RUL-GHAAFIREEN

The best of all forgivers,

ئــج حـو ا ضــــي قـالـمـؤ مـنـیـن ا

QAAZ''EE H'AWAAA-IJIL-MU’-MINEEN

The satisfier of the needs of the faithful,

لـحـیـن ـــا لص ا مـغـیـث MUGHEETHUS'-S'AALIH'EEN

And the hearer of the appeals of the virtuous.

نت أ ل إ ـه ـ لـ إ ل ـه لـل ا نت أAN-TAL-LAAHU LAAA ILAAHA IL-LAAA AN-T

You are Allah, there is no god but You,

لـمـیـن لـعـا ا ر ب RAB-BUL-A'ALAMEEN

You are the Cherisher and Sustainer of all the worlds.

ق لـمخـلـو ا نا أ و لـق لـخـا ا نت أAN-TAL-KHAALIQU WA

ANAL-MAKH-LOOQYou are the Creator and I am a creature,

لـمملـو ک ا نا أ و لـک لـمـا ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-MAALIKU WA

ANAL-MAM-LOOKYou are the Master and I am a servant,

28

لــعــبـد ا نا أ و ب لـر ا نت أ و WA AN-TAR-RAB-BU WA

ANAL-A'B-DYou are the Lord and I am a slave,

لـمـر ز و ق ا نا أ و ز ق ا لــر ا نت أ وWA AN-TAR-RAAZIQU WA

ANAL-MAR-ZOOQYou are the Provider while I am

provided with sustenance,

ئـل ـا لس ا نا أ و لـمـعـطـي ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-MUA'-T'EE WA

ANAS-SAAA-ILYou are the Giver while I am a beggar,

لـبـخـیـل ا نا أ و د لجـو ا ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-JAWAADU WA

ANAL-BAKHEELYou are the Generous while I am a miser,

ــعـیـف لـض ا نا أ و ي لـقـو ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-QAWIY-YU WA ANAZ''-

Z''AE'EFYou are the Mighty while I am weak,

لـیـل لـذ ا نا أ و لـعــز یـز ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-A'ZEEZU WA ANAD'-

D'ALEELYou are the Noble while I am humble,

لـفقیـر ا نا أ و لــغــنــي ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-GHANIY-YU WA ANAL-

FAQEERYou are the Independent while I am needy,

لـعـبـد ا نا أ و د ـی لـس ا نت أ وWA AN-TAS-SAY-YIDU WA ANAL-

A'B-DYou are the Master while I am a slave,

ء لـمـسـي ا نا أ و فـر لـغــا ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-GHAAFIRU WA

ANAL-MUSEEE’-You are the Forgiver of sins

while I am sinful,

هل لـجا ا نا أ و لـم لـعــا ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-A'ALIMU WA

ANAL-JAAHILYou are the Omniscient while I am ignorant,

لـعجو ل ا نا أ و لـحـلــیـم ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-H'ALEEMU WA

ANAL-A'JOOL You are the Forbearing while I am hasty,

لـمـرحـو م ا نا أ و ـن ـ حـم لـر ا نت أ وWA AN-TAR-RAH'-MAANU WA

ANAL-MAR-H'OOMYou are the All-Merciful and I have been treated with mercy,

31

لـمـبـتـلی ا نـا أ و فـــي لـمـعـا ا نت أ وWA AN-TAL-MUA'AFEE WA

ANAL-MUB-TALAAYou are the Provider of safety but

I am involved in suffering,

نـا أ و لـمـجـیـب ا نت أ و لـمـضـــطــر ا

WA AN-TAL-MUJEEBU WA ANAL-MUZ''-T'ARR

You are the Responder and I am the distressed.

ـه لـل ا نت أ نـک بأ شــهـد أ نا أ ونت أ ل إ ه ـ ل إ ل

WA ANA ASH-HADU BIAN-NAKA AN-TAL-LAAHU LAAA ILAAHA

IL-LAAA AN-T And I bear witness that verily You are

Allah, there is no god but You,

32

ل ســـؤ ا بل د ک عـبـا لـمـعـطـي اAL-MUA'-T'EE I'BAADAKA

BILAA SUAALYou bestow favours upon Your

slaves even without their asking.

ه الـو احـد ـ ک أنـت الـل ن أ ـ ب أشــهد و مـد ر د الــص ـ الـمتـف الحــد

الــفــر دWA ASH-HADU BIAN-NAKA

AN-TAL-LAAHUL-WAAH'IDUL-AH'ADUL-MUTAFAR-RIDUS'-

S'AMADUL-FAR-DAnd I bear witness that verily You

are Allah, the One, the Peerless, the Unique, the Independent, the Single,

لـمـصـــیـر ا لــیـک إ وWA ILAY-KAL-MAS'EER

And verily to You we must return.

33

بـیته هل أ و د محم علی ه لـل ا صـلی وهر یـن ا لط ا ـبین ی لط ا

WA S'AL-LAL-LAAHU A'LAA MUH'AM-MADIW-WA AH-LI

BAY-TIHIT'-T'AY-YIBEENAT'-T'AAHIREEN

May the blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and his

family, the holy and pure,

نـو بي ذ لـي غـفــر ا وWAGH-FIR LEE D'UNOOBEE

O Lord, forgive my sins,

عیـو بي عــلی ست ا وWAS-TUR A'LAY-YA U'YOOBEE

And keep my faults concealed,

34

و ر حــمـة نک لـد مـن لـي فـتـح ا و ســـعـا ا و ر ز قــا

WAF-TAH' LEE MIL-LADUN-KA RAH'-MATAW-WA RIZ-QAW-

WAASIA'AAnd extend to me Your special

mercy and bounteous sustenance,

حــمـیـن ا لـر ا ر حــم أ یـا YAA AR-H'AMAR-RAAH'IMEEN

O the All-merciful!

ر ب ـه لـل لـحـــمد ا ولـمـیـن لـعــا ا

WAL-H'AM-DU LIL-LAAHI RAB-BIL-A'ALAMEEN

All praise is due to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of all the worlds,

35

نـعـم و ـه لـل ا حـســـبـنـا ولـو کــیـل ا

WA H'AS-BUNAL-LAAHU WA NIA'-MAL-WAKEEL

And Allah is sufficient for us and is the most excellent Protector.

ـه لـل با ل إ ة قــو ل و حــو ل ل و. لـعـظـــیـم ا لـعـلـي ا

WA LAA H'AW-LA WA LAA QUW-WATA IL-LAA BIL-LAAHIL-A'LIY-

YIL-A'Z'EEMThere is neither might nor power but

with Allah, the Great, the Exalted.

MUH'AM-MADIW-WA AALI MUH'AM-MADIW-WA A'J-JIL

FARAJAHUMMay Allah’s Greetings and Blessings be
