Flowers, Food and Bridge in Dubbo by Kaye Hart
Jeff and I travelled to Dubbo for the bridge congress on the weekend of October 15/16. We arrived a couple of days before the congress and had a wonderful walk around the Taronga Western Plains Zoo and some great meals. We arrived at the congress, convened by Jane North with Michael Wilkinson directing, to be greeted by great country hospitality with a plethora of homemade breads, cakes, and slices. The Dubbo
bridge club was decorated with a great array of flowers from local gardens presenting the players with a wonderful atmosphere. The pairs event held on the 15th was an enjoyable but challenging barometer event over 17 rounds and 54 boards. A pleasing aspect of the pairs competition was that the Restricted field played in a separate event over 11 rounds and 44 boards thereby providing these players with an event that suited their level of experience.
