Mr Burkitt’s Message
Welcome to Term 4. We certainly hope that all of our students had a relaxing Spring vacation and are back ready for a busy Term 4. During the holidays our school received a new coat of paint on the outside timber walls, pressure cleaned brick walls with a coat of water protection and the Year 5 & 6 classroom has been repainted throughout.
Many of our large trees, which had been identified as dangerous, have been either removed completely or had dangerous limbs and branches removed. There was some concern from community members in removing these trees however our students' safety is paramount and once these trees were identified as requiring removal they had to go. Some of the remaining trees which were pruned will be reassessed to determine if they require total removal.
Special activities and opportunities for our students this Term include Intensive swimming program (10 days) commencing in Week 6 for all students in Kindergarten, Year 1 & 2. Any students who are in Years 3, 4, 5 or 6 who are unable to confidently swim 25 metres are also invited to participate in this essential program.
Year 5 & 6 will be participating in weekly surfing lessons commencing next week. Permission notes will be sent home this week. Year 6 will also participate in a leadership camp which involves a 12km walk from Sawtell to Mylestom, an overnight camp, as well as kayaking. This excursion is subject to favourable weather conditions.
School Social next Thursday in the Bonville Hall. All students are welcome to attend. The social will commence at 6pm and conclude at 7:30pm. The cost will be $5.00 each which will include entry, a packet of popcorn and a popper. All profits will support Year 6 fundraising for their farewell.
Tell Them From Me surveys are still open for parents until the end of next week. Thank you to all of the parents who have already completed these surveys. To access the survey for our school go to: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/bonville19
