Action: Collect and Share InsightsCollecting and sharing insights is one of the six actions of the Dunedin Destination Plan.

Insights Forums • We want to “collect and share information more effectively so Dunedin can take advantage of opportunities

and better respond to change”.

• One of our key delivery activities from the Dunedin Destination Plan is to ‘Develop a dashboard that encompasses data from the five key areas of live, visit, study, work, invest and make this available to stakeholders on a regular basis’.

• Enterprise Dunedin together with key stakeholder partners and cross-sector representatives from the City are working together to deliver a city sector-wide collaborative approach to the collecting, sharing and reporting of data.

• We want to help each other collect, analyse and share local, national and regional statistics regularly and consistently to identify trends, keep ahead of changes and inform Dunedin’s destination marketing and management activities.

First Forum - September 2018 • Allowed us to meet and discuss how we can best approach this together, including our roles and

responsibilities.

• Provided a good starting point to better understand:

1. What information and data do we have already?

2. What’s missing? What do we need?

3. What are our roles?

4. What are the process(es) we need to put in place to collect and share information?

• Connected the Forum as a group open to collecting and sharing insights.

Second Forum – November 2018• Provided an opportunity:

1. for Enterprise Dunedin to demonstrate a prototype dashboard developed and designed based on all feedback received from the first Forum;

2. for the Forum group to contribute to its design and content.

Next steps• The ‘DunedinNZ Insights’ dashboard is due to ‘go live’ by the end of the first quarter 2019, for the Forum

group and the general public to use in a six-month trial.

• The Forum group members will be asked to use the trial period to familiarise themselves with the dashboard and to share with others from their organisations. (During the trial period, the data, where available will be refreshed monthly; the design of the dashboard will remain the same.)

• Six months from the ‘go live’ date the Forum group will meet again to review ‘DunedinNZ Insights’.
