About Dux Traps

Dux traps are an essential element to the plumbing of every bathroom and kitchen. They are suitable for connection to polypropylene, unplasticised PVC pipe and copper tube.

Traps are designed to maintain a water seal under normal operating conditions. This water seal prevents foul air from the main sewer line entering the building.

Dux traps are manufactured using polypropylene, a durable material offering rigidity and strength retention at high temperatures. They can be sterilised by steam and in the absence of stress withstand up to 150°C intermittently. The excellent chemical resistance characteristics of polypropylene makes them ideal for domestic waste systems as well as hospitals, food processing factories and most industrial and commercial applications. Dux traps are warrantied for up to 50 years, with 10 years on pop-ups and 2 years on accessories. Conditions apply, refer to www.dux.co.nz for specific information.

Building Code RegulationsDux traps are watermark certified and comply with the NZ Building Code Regulations which require that discharge points from sanitary fixtures and appliances shall have a water trap to prevent foul air from the plumbing system entering the building’ and ‘under normal operating conditions, fixture traps shall retain a water seal depth of not less than 25mm’.

‘The nominal depth of water seal is 75±10mm for waste water fixture traps... The system should be tested under load conditions to ensure that a 25mm minimum water seal depth is not compromised.’ (G13/AS1 3.2)
