DVS UGrindUniversal hard-fine machining for small and medium batch sizes
A flexible machine for the hard-fine machining of shafts and chucking components with a centre width of up to 1800 mm and a centre height of 350 mm. Work pieces weighing up to 150 kg can be machined on the DVS UGrind.

The DVS UGrind combines complete hard-fine machining in one machine. Turning, measuring and grinding applications on ex-ternal and internal surfaces can be performed in one work cycle.
For example, various fit seats can be turned and ground without tool change with a high degree of precision in a single clamping. Since the workpiece is only clamped once, set-up times are redu-ced and reclamping faults are avoided.

The multifunctional DVS UGrind tool turret guarantees maxi-mum flexibility for machining.
With an action radius of 270 degrees, processes such as internal and external grinding, face grinding, cone grinding or various hard turning processes are completed efficiently with maximum precision.
An optional measuring probe integrated into the multifunc-tion turret controls machining until the final dimension is reached. Time-consuming manual work such as remeasuring or successive feed is eliminated. This significantly reduces the overall machining time.

DVS UCee operating system.Simple to operate.
The DVS UGrind can be operated simply and efficiently using the UCee operating system. In just a few steps and without in-depth programming knowledge being necessary, machining processes can be prepared via the control touchscreen. First of all, the workpiece geometries, required machining areas and tool parameters are defi-ned. Then all the operator has to do is select a machining cycle, and machining is started at the push of a button. The fast and simple ope-ration saves a great deal of time, allowing more items to be produced at lower costs in the same period of time.
Alternatively, the geometry data and tool assignment can be prepa-red at the PC and transferred to the machine by USB or Ethernet interface. The Ethernet connection also makes it possible to integrate the DVS UGrind in digitalised production networks.
The various machining programs are stored with the aid of the inte-grated workpiece management feature and can thus be retrieved at any time.

The simplicity of the DVS UGrind is convincing during loading, too. Loading can be either manual or by crane in the case of heavy parts. The magnetic chuck makes precise clamping of the work piece easier and provides free access to all the surfaces to be machined.
For medium-sized batch production, the DVS UGrind can be equipped with various automation solutions. Depending on the requirements, robot arms or gantry loaders can be used for this.

With a footprint of just 7m² (75.3 ft²)*, the DVS UGrind combines state-of-the-art design, the most efficient technologies for hard-fine machining and sturdy set-up. The compactness of the DVS UGrind is based on its integrated Cooling and Filtration system. This provides a closed system, without requi-ring additional floor space.
The DVS UGrind has a natural granite machine bed to damp vibration. The thermally stable construction guaran-tees optimum reproducibility of the desired surface quality.
The DVS UGrind is available in two dif-ferent versions depending on the length of workpieces. The DVS UGrind 800 was designed for workpieces with a maxi-mum centre width of 1200 mm (47.2´´). Components with a centre width of up to 1800 mm (70.8 ´´) can be machined on the DVS UGrind 1500.

For uniformly precise machining results with the UGrind, selec-ting the proper tools plays a decisive role. Right from the start of development of this machine series, NAXOS-DISKUS developed a line of original tools for internal and external grinding appli-cations on the DVS UGrind. Depending on the application, the individual tools can be custom adapted to all grinding processes and components.
Original grinding tools consisting of conventional grit or super-abrasive grit such as CBN or diamond material to match custo-mer requirements are quickly available and produced to strin-gent quality standards in Germany. Equipped with a new ULoad automation cell, the hard-fine ma-chining centre DVS UGrind will process small and medium-sized production orders for shaft and chuck parts even more efficient-ly in future. With the universal loading unit, the DVS UGrind can be automated for a wide range of different workpieces up to 130 mm in diameter.
At the heart of the automation is the flexible pivoting gripper which loads and unloads quickly and precisely. During machin-ing, the gripper unloads the finished part from the self-support-ing conveyor belt integrated in the ULoad, removes a raw part and parks it behind the loading hatch to the work chamber. Once the machining process is complete, the loader takes the short path to remove the finished part, pivots and loads a new raw part. As soon as the loading hatch is passed, a new machin-ing process can be started.
The standalone design of the ULoad loading cell with its own control and independent peripherals can eas-ily be integrated in UGrind machines that are already in operation, without excessively long production downtime. The reason: ULoad automation cells can be programmed and put into operation even without a machine connected.
An intended chip conveyor can be placed under the automation so that no additional space beyond the machine dimensions is needed.
