From the Principal’s Desk… Dear Eisenhower Parents: CONGRATULATIONS to our Math Bowl Team! They earned the Second Place Ribbon last night

at Wheeler Middle School. We will find out our State

ranking later today when all the scores throughout the

State are compiled. We are so proud of our team and Coach

Menear. It was an exciting and difficult competition, and

our team worked very hard!

Congratulations to our recent Valentine Reading Race

winners. These girls had the most AR points during the

week of the race and won some very cute puppies from Mrs.

Just a reminder that the ISTEP testing window for grades 3, 4, and 5 is next week. Our testing window will be

March 3, 4, 5, and 6 with any makeup testing to follow on

March 9th. Thank you for working with us to ensure your

students come well rested, well fed, and ready for testing

each day! On behalf of the teachers, I personally want to

thank all the parents for making sure not to schedule

appointments or off days during this time. It is so

disruptive to the child and teacher to miss the scheduled

testing periods. Just letting you know that this part of the

ISTEP test is the paper and pencil applied skills portion.

Students will be completing writing prompts as well as math

story problems requiring them to show their work.

PRINCIPAL’S BUTTER BRAID SALE Our school needs your help in raising some extra money for the Principal’s Awards. All proceeds from this sale will be used to purchase the

awards given to our children on Awards Day (such as trophies, medals, t-shirts, pins and certificates). Additional information went home with all the students. As an extra incentive, Mrs. Chapko is having a pizza/ice cream party for any student that sells 5 or more Butter Braids. Any Eisenhower siblings from that family will be able to attend the pizza party! All forms and money will need to be turned in by Monday, March 2nd, 2015. Delivery of the Butter Braids is scheduled for Thursday, March 26th at 3:00pm. “WEAR A HAT TO SCHOOL DAY” The Eisenhower National Elementary Honor Society will be sponsoring a “Hat Day” on Wednesday, March 11th, to raise funds to support our St. Baldrick’s team. Students can wear a hat to school by contributing $1.00. All the proceeds will be donated to St. Baldrick’s Foundation to help conquer childhood cancers. IKE FAMILY READING NIGHT On Thursday, March 19, 2015, Eisenhower Elementary will host its fourth Family Reading Night! Join us from 6:00-7:30pm for a literary evening with stories,

ST. BALDRICK’S FOUNDATION CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH

How about a free haircut? Here at Ike, interested students have started a team to shave their heads and help raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which funds vital research for childhood cancers. Parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins, friends, etc., can join our “Eisenhower Bald Eagles” team too! The Eisenhower National Elementary Honor Society would like to get more participants on our team for this great cause! You can help by joining us and fundraising to shave your head or by simply supporting the team with a donation. Team members can search for the Eisenhower Bald Eagles team on the St. Baldrick’s website and register for this event.
