From the Principal’s Desk… Dear Eisenhower Parents, It has definitely been a busy and exciting

week as we move ever closer to our Winter

Break! Please note, our break now includes Monday, January

2nd. Everyone is scheduled to return to school on Tuesday,

January 3rd. There will be 17 days to play, rest, have fun,

and make all those special memories!! Next week, all of our

holiday parties are scheduled for Thursday, December 15th,

followed by our tying up of all loose ends day on Friday,

with our final Mini Economy for 2016 scheduled for

Mrs. Robinson, our music teacher, hosted her first Eisenhower

music concert of the school year. Winter Fest was a wonderful

success. The fourth graders amazed us with their snowflake ribbon

dancing, combined with their singing, to create a very special treat!

Our newly refurbished bells sounded wonderful, along with our

melodious choir! Thank you so

much for your support! ☺

This week, our kindergarten classes listened to Mrs. Einikis read

her traditional story – The Polar Express - They each received a special bell to

ring during the

story. It was a

very cute

moment when

they ALL heard

it!

A special thank

you to Mrs. Thiel

and her crew of

moms who helped out for the past two weeks to make Santa’s

Secret Shop possible. It is a yearlong shopping endeavor ending

with an intense week of shopping and wrapping! We could not do

this for the kids, who absolutely LOVE it, without our dedicated

Ike moms. Your efforts are very much appreciated!

STUDENT COUNCIL - ANGEL TREE Student Council is sponsoring an Angel Tree for the holiday season that runs through Monday, December 12th. We help

the families of Eisenhower that need our assistance. We have an Angel tree in the front by the office that will only have wishes for toys. We would like for each child to receive at least one toy. Please stop by to get an angel or have your child take one. After you have

bought the toy, please return it to the office. You can either wrap it and attach the angel from the tree or send it in and Student Council will wrap the gift. In addition, we would like to purchase clothes for each child, which will be done a little differently. We are asking for a $3.00 to $5.00 donation from each child, which is not mandatory. If you can afford more of a donation, that’s wonderful. As a staff, we decided that we would collect money for the clothes so that no child will know what items of clothing were donated. This is the only way to ensure that the families that we help will remain anonymous. Please send the money in an envelope earmarked “Angel Tree.” Donations are due no later than Monday, December 12th. Student Council thanks you for all of your support in advance! Happy Holidays! NATIONAL ELEMENTARY HONOR SOCIETY “HAT DAY” National Elementary Honor Society “Hat Day” is coming to Eisenhower Elementary School on Friday, December 16th. For $1.00 you can wear your favorite baseball cap, Mickey Mouse ears, Cowboy hat, Cubs hat, Fedora, etc. Proceeds will go toward purchasing gifts for our Angel Tree! SCRIP ORDERS Scrip order forms are due back in the office on Monday,

December 12th and will be ready for pick up on Friday, December 16th. By getting your cards through our school, not only does this help Eisenhower but you earn money as well. Also,

MCDONALD’S MCSCHOOL NIGHT FUNDRAISER We hope you can make it to Eisenhower’s McSchool Night which

will be on Wednesday, December 14th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the McDonald’s located at 135 North Main Street in Crown Point. Don’t forget to bring your McDonald’s vouchers (which

will be sent home next week) as 15% of the sales will be donated to Eisenhower Elementary School. Thank you! ��

EISENHOWER SCHOOL’S OPEN GYM NIGHT Come to Eisenhower School’s Open Gym on Saturday, December 17th from 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Midwest Gym (located at

1204 Erie Court in Crown Point). The cost is $10 per child. Bring your family and friends to a fun and safe environment. This event is open to all! Jump, play and just have fun! Adults can stay and watch,

or drop-off (school age kids) and have a Parent’s Night Out. We have Ike parents chaperoning this event. An adult must

sign in the kids. This is a good opportunity to let kids come and be kids. Kids can tumble, jump on a trampoline, or just play in the pit. No Jeans Allowed!!! No pants with belts, buckles or rhinestones! You MUST have SOCKS ON to participate. No Barefeet! There will be a “Class Contest” – whichever class has the most participation will win a pizza party! MATH BOWL TRY-OUTS Math Bowl Tryouts will be held in Mrs. Kostic’s classroom at 8:10am on Monday, December 12, 2016. We will be having practice for Math Bowl in my classroom on Monday and Wednesday

after school from 3:45 to 4:30pm beginning Tuesday, January 10th. If your child can’t make it to practice, they need to come and see me each day to pick up homework. The team consists of 20 students, however, only the top 16

will compete. The competition will take place on Thursday, February 23rd at Wheeler Middle School at 5:00pm. I will give you more information as it draws near. WINTER BREAK CHILD CARE During Winter Break, Child Care will be available from 6:00am to 6:30pm at Solon Robinson Elementary School on the following days: December 19, 20, 21, 22, and December 27 and 28. The cost to attend is $7.00 per session each day.

WINTER BREAK CAMP-SOUTHLAKE YMCA We will have centers, stations, crafts and games. Each week Winter Break Campers will participate in an in-house community service project to help others! Winter Break Camp dates begin Monday, December 19th

SANTA’S BOWLING PARTY You’re invited to Santa’s Bowling Party at the Super Bowl located at 218 South East Street in Crown Point on Sunday, December 18th. You can

bowl and visit with Santa and his elves. You can make reservations for bowling at 10:15am, 12noon, 1:45pm and 3:30pm for your one hour of unlimited bowling. The cost is $11.50 per child which includes: shoes, one hour of unlimited bowling, time to share your Christmas wish list

KEY CLUB INTERNATIONAL CHRISTMAS PARTY The Key Club International will be hosting a Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 14th from 6:00 to 7:30pm in the Cafeteria of Crown Point High School-enter through the front doors.
