Its first issue of the Straits Times was published on July 15,1845. NSTP has been involved in journalism industry for almost hundred and sixty years. Mr Mohammad Azlan Abdullah, NSTP CEO’s had recently presented a paper which emphasized that the company had done a lot of transformations on their business strategy to sustain in the current market. Their four key focus areas based on the Optimus strategy project namely, create new value, leverage internal assets, create winning mentality and get house in order. There were various programmes and initiatives spearheaded by management for the past years which aimed at creating a conducive and sustainable talent ecosystem for business enabling as well as to unlock the commercial value of their knowledge as a proactive business strategy. Unleashing Talents through NSTP’s Exciting and

Interactive Business Experience

The New Straits Times Press (NSTP) is a well-known establishment for its pioneering in the news area. Its first issue of the Straits Times was published on July 15,1845. NSTP has been involved in journalism industry for almost hundred and sixty years.

Human Resource (HR) practices and policies of UEM Group Berhad (UEM Group) had won seven awards at the inaugural Human Resources Excellence Award Malaysia 2013 Gala Night from the Hu-man Resources Magazine . Group Berhad during the Benchmarking Seminar held on 20 March 2014. The key success factor implemented in UEM Group Berhad strategy was HR Master Plan. There were seven factors to enhance their human resources, namely leadership development audit, succession management, build technical talent pipeline, build international assignee pipeline for global mobility, structured and targeted leadership development, build junior management and future talent pipeline as well as build HR capability.

Best Place to Work In! : Excellence in Workplace Well-Being

that Affect Employees’ Performance 20 March 2014, Productivity Hall of MPC, Petaling Jaya

Ms Jenny Ooi of Agilent Technologies had shared and addressed issues of workplace well-being that affects employees’ performance and work-life bal-ance of employee outcomes in their company during the recent presentation. The roadmap of culture transformation strategy had awarded Agilent, the HR Grand Winner 2013 at Human Resources Excellence Awards 2013 gala night. Agilent Technologies has focused on the importance on human resource since 2006 till now. The culture transformation roadmap is translated into three phases of implementations and four main focus areas, namely people vision, people mission, people strategy and leadership strategy. The long term company success formula is based on energetic, healthy and happiness employees which are equal to productive employees. The analysis on the stability and change in the well-being of employee will provide a concrete example of macro–level policy changes that could have the micro-effects on the psychological well–being of their employee.

Based on the Best Employers 2.0 – Asia 2013 study, the four main factors to become the best employer were em-ployee engagement, leadership, em-ployer brand and high performance culture. These measures would show the real situation of the company per-formance. It acted as a guide for the company to make further improvement from the present performance. Agilent Technologies had obtained work-life balance index of 72% in 2013 which was above market average. This proven that work-life balance strategy method had been implemented suc-cessfully in their company.

HEALTHCARE EXCELLENCE

This is the summary of employee engagement best practic-es associated with Healthcare excellence which covers the following:

Lead by competent people who has a clear sense at

direction to achive desired organizational goals.

Develop core values that reflect organisational aspira-

tions, and inspire employees because they resonate with their own personal values.

Reinforce the desired organisational culture in perfor-

mance appraisals, education and training, and within formal/informal celebrations.

Translate organisational values and culture into every-

day attitudes and behaviour, and eradicate unwanted behaviour (e.g. dishonesty, abuse, bullying, and gossip).

Establish a culture of ongoing initiatives using physi-

cian leadership to ensure future cost and quality goals are achieved.

Include nurse representatives on boards and execu-

tive management teams to improve healthcare qual-ity and safety.

Employ new technologies—such as telehealth and

telecare systems—to provide patient independence, security, confidence and quality of life, and to save on substantial treatment costs.

Use “green principles” to operate healthcare organi-

sation buildings, systems and equipment in a more efficient, effective and sustainable way.

Benchmarking Seminar CUM Report Presentation to CoP Members

20 MARCH 2014, PRODUCTIVITY HALL OF MPC PJ - A total of 88 partici-

pants from various organisations in private and public sectors had gained fruit-

ful knowledge and information presented by the three respectful speakers from

UEM Group Berhad, Agilent Technologies Malaysia and NST Malaysia Berhad.

Amidst the transaction of the nation towards higher income economy, this

seminar served the best platform to all participants for them to share best prac-

tices on how these excellent companies had incorporated the learning culture

among the employees, work-life balance initiatives to improve employees’ per-

formance and unleashing talent for future sustainability.

librarians from 13 organisations took part in the ‘Bengkel Pelaksanaan Lawatan Ama-

lan Terbaik : Ke arah Meningkatkan Kecemerlangan Perpustakaan’. This programme

was organised by Persatuan Pustakawan Malaysia (PPM) and Central Bank of Malay-

sia, and jointly conducted by Malaysia Benchmarking & Case Study Clearing House

of MPC.

The objective of this workshop is to develop a guideline to conduct best practices visit

which can be one of reference materials to all librarians in the future. Since 2011, PPM

had conducted a series of best practices visit to 12 libraries locally as well as

internationally which lead them to learnt, adapted and adopted best practices in many

This seminar was also organised in conjunction with the

certificate hand-over ceremony to 34 CoP members who

had completed phase 1 of MPC benchmarking project.

This was a recognition platform provided by MPC to all

CoP members that had contributed to the successful of

benchmarking project throughout year 2013.

A total of 48 MRSM throughout Malaysia had attended a three days lab organized by Bahagi-

an Pendidikan Menengah, MARA. The lab activity consisted of lectures, discussions and pa-

per presentations for best practices sharing. Besides, the session was designed to overview

the yearly data input and report presented to MRSM Edex 2014 using e-benchmark online

system by Mr. Mohamad Sahril. MPC also shared a paper presentation entitled

‘Benchmarking Journey and Benefit’ by Mr. Ab. Rashid Omar.
