Integrated control in a single device

On the e-Room Classic model, the device is enabled when the

card is inserted, allowing the user to connect the HVAC system andchange the setpoint as desired. In 2 Pipes systems its possible touse the auxiliary output for a lighting point which will be switched onautomatically when the card is inserted. The HVAC control is done instand-alone mode, controlling the valve actuator and fan-speed outputson demand. Opening the window stops the HVAC system temporarily, activating it again when it is closed. The auxiliary output is switched ontemporarily when the card is removed (in 2 Pipes system conguration)and stops the HVAC system or changes it to low consumption modedepending on the conguration. Remote monitoring and control of thedevice can be done by means of its communication bus for BMS globalcontrol system integration.

On e-Room Detectormodel, occupancy detection in the room canbe achieved by a combination of door contact and movement sensorinstalled in the room, enabling in this case the HVAC system for its useat any time. The combination of door closed and the absence of peopleautomatically stops the HVAC system.

trolled by the device depending on the occupancy status. When themotion detector is detecting occupancy, the device turns to enablemode, allowing the user to connect the HVAC system and change thesetpoint as desired. When the zone is occupied the lighging outputturns to on and turns it again off after some time from the last move -ment detection.

The user can also manually turn on permanently the light using a wallswitch actuator. When the zone changes to unoccupied, the HVACsystem turns to off or to low consumption mode, depending on theconguration previously downloaded. Opening the window stops theHVAC system temporarily, activating it again when it is closed. Thedevice can be congured for 2 pipes or 4 pipes system. In 2 pipessystem the Occupied Zone Indicator output shows the zone occupan -cy status. The HVAC system is directly controlled through the devicepushbuttons, or it can also be remotely controlled through its stan-dard communication bus and do automatic switch on/off programmingfunctions, change operation mode or setpoint through an external realtime clock event. The device includes remote control mechanism thatenables the keypad blocking to avoid the user manipulate the opera-ting through it.

e-Clima is a device that provides temperature, relative humidity and

pressure values supplied by different sensors located in a room. It

includes an EN 14908 LonWorks communication bus through which

values supplied by the various remote sensors are received; these

are in turn displayed on the screen for simple and intuitive reading. An

analogue input is provided for direct connection of an NTC temperature

sensor where a temperature sensor is not to be connected to the bus.

e-Clima allows the sequential display of sensor supplied temperature,

humidity and pressure values. Two versions are available, one

without local setpoint control and another with local control that allows

temperature and relative humidity setpoint adjustment through a 4

button keypad, to have the values sent through the Lon network to a

    remote climate control device.

This unit is particularly suited for applications such as hospital operating

    Energy saving in ofces

e-Multisensor Auto is a multisensor range of products designed to

provide an stand-alone lighting control solution in buildings in order toobtain an energy saving at the lowest installation and equipment cost.Including a motion sensor and a light sensor, both components combinedprovide multiple control applications in any building area. Two differentmodels are available:

e-Multisensor AutoOnOffis a device for automatic lighting switching oncontrol when movement is detected and the ambient light level is belowa minimum pre-dened value. If the light level is over the pre-denedvalue, the device will keep the lights off even a movement is detected. Anautomatic light switching off is done by timeout since the last detection.e-Multisensor AutoDim 0-10V is an innovative multisensor forautomatic light dimming level on occupied zones. The ambient light levelis measured by the light sensor and keeps the luminaries at a constantvalue throughout the day according to a pre-dened light setpoint. Thisallows reducing the energy consumption of the installation at a minimumlevel.

One external input to force the 0-10V analog output at a pre-dened bi-level value is provided in both models for energy saving applications.

e-Multisensor Bus is an innovative multisensor including a high

sensitivity motion detector and a light sensor for occupancy control andlight level monitoring in a zone. A communication bus on the deviceallows transmitting the information to other devices on the networkthat actuate over the lighting components switching them on, off ordimming. A constant light controller is included on the device which isused to adjust light level according to the light setpoint congured andthe combination of natural and articial lighting. The motion sensor isused to automatically switch on and off the lights depending on the zoneoccupancy status, switching them off and saving energy when the zoneis unoccupied.

Two different communication buses are available in two differentreference products: LonWorks twisted pair TP/FT-10 and LonWorksPowerLine. This last model is using the mains electrical networkas a transmission channel and is specially indicated for buildingrefurbishment where no special cables are needed to install on the facility.

The device is designed for ush mounting on a suspended ceilingproviding a wide coverage area of 36m2, making it an ideal solutionfor loft ofces.

    Energy saving with control systems

The device is including a high sensitivity motion sensor used to detectsmallest movements like hanging up the phone, picking up a pen, etc. toallow detect an occupied zone. It is designed to cover an area of 36m2,enough to t a 4 to 6 people working place. A free contact relay outputfor the motion sensor is used to inform about the occupancy status ofthe zone to a digital input of the control system. When a movement isdetected the relay output goes to the on state, actuating over the digitalinput of the system which will automatically switch on the lighting andthe HVAC systems. After a period of inactivity on the zone, the relay willautomatically turn to off and the control system will switch off the lightingand the HVAC systems for energy saving purposes. The switching offtime can be congured by means of a potentiometer on the back sideof the product.

A light sensor is also included on the device, sending the light levelthrough a 0-10V analog output which will be sued for the control systemfor light dimming purposes, depending on the natural light level incidentin the building. This control solution is providing an optimum light level onthe building, saving the maximum energy as possible.

e-Multisensor AutoDim 0-10V is a device that connects to a luminaire

or group of luminaires for direct control. The device is powered at themains electrical network voltage and a phase contact output relay isavailable for automatic light switching on and off depending on the zoneoccupancy state, providing an energy saving due to an automatic lightswitching off when the zone turns to unoccupied. A 0-10V output isavailable on the device for an automatic light dimming control, which isdirectly connected to the ballast or led driver of the luminaire.

    Operating modes:

In ON/OFF mode a light level thershold can be adjusted to dene theamblient light level value from which the lights will automatically turn onwhen a movement is detected. The luminaires turns automatically to offafter a predened time from the last movement detected. The time canbe adjusted as needed.

In AutoDim mode the device ensures the automatic light leveldeepening on the predened setpoint light value. Several luminairescan be controlled at the same time by the device using its analog 0-10Voutput.

    solution

There is a growing need for lighting and HVAC control in ofce buildingenvironments to get accurate energy savings, properly managing theservices depending on the occupancy state and the natural lightingstriking inside the building, to get the maximum energy saving aspossible. There is a twofold objective: switching off the services onunoccupied zones and do an automatic light dimming to adjust thelighting at a predened setpoint value.

In this application note, the e-Multisensor Bus TP/FT-10 deviceis measuring the light level of the zone and compares it with thepredened setpoint value, obtaining as a result the level at which theluminaires must be set. This result together with the zone occupancystatus provided by the motion sensor is sent to the lighting controlsystem for the dimming process. When people in a zone moves to otherzone on the building, the motion sensor changes to unoccupancy modeand stops the HVAC system or turns it to ECO mode, switching off thelighting system or dimming it to a low level value.

The communication bus ensures the device integration with the buildingglobal management control system to allow the occupancy status andlight level values monitoring through an SCADA application for a furtheranalysis.
