Commissioner Note:

We are very happy to announce that our ULB was also been included in AMRUT

cities of AP under the Govt. of India.

We are working with dedication to achieve our target in implementing the 2016-17

reform (development of parks) where administration sanction & layout of the park was

completed, awaiting for technical sanction.

In pertaining to mission from the central govt. to overcome ODF town free. Swachh

Bharat Mission is running successfully in the ULB to maintain Swachh kavali-Swachh Andhra

“one step towards cleanliness”. We are working on activities such as Swachh Servekshan-2017 where the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) started the “Swachh Sarvekshan” survey in

2016 which rated 73 cities across the country. Following the same, the MoUD has issued

guidelines for “Swachh Sarvekshan” 2017 which will conduct a survey to rank 500 cities (having

a population of 1 lakh and above).

, We had started few initiatives like Happy Sunday Event, Poster Free Town as per

instructions of state government to make city clean and also to bring a livelihood environment

among people’s life

We are also implementing the state and central government schemes such as

Implementation of Housing for all & Go-No 279 on Solid Waste Management .

DEVELOPMENT OF PARKS:

The Kavali municipality

under AMRUT PROJECTS as part of its

reform Development of parks, the

identification process was done with a

priority of public utility. The

administration sanction was done.

layouts were designed by APUGBCL

and necessary changes were suggested

by the CMMU team. Further the cleaning

of land proposed for development of

park was done.

The parks listed as below are

approved under AMRUT PROJECTS.

Swachh Bharat Mission :

The Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) started the “Swachh Sarvekshan” survey in 2016

which rated 73 cities across the country. Following the same, the MoUD has issued guidelines

for “Swachh Sarvekshan” 2017 which will conduct a survey to rank 500 cities (having a

population of 1 lakh and above). The components covered in this survey are: • Solid Waste

Management (SWM) including road sweeping, municipal solid waste from residential,

commercial areas and from construction & demolition waste. • Individual, community and public

toilets • Open defecation free city/town strategy • Information, education and behaviour change

communication (IEBC) strategy, and • ICT based system to enhance Urban Local Body (ULB)

operations. Kavali Municipality is implementing Swachh Bharath

scheme by creating regular awareness campaigns in

the public about cleanliness, sanitation and

construction of IHLs to make Swachh Kavali. The

Ministry had short-listed as many as 476 cities and

urban local bodies, with a population of more than

one lakh. Lot of participation was done by school

students and other Govt employees to make this

campaign success.

“Mere launching a program is not enough, results

matter. It is not only the Government who can make it

a success, people's participation is of utmost

importance”, Says commissioner.

India will definitely be a clean country in coming years provided the Government and the people

participate in this Swachh Bharat Mission in a holistic manner. Under the mission of central

Govt. that each and every household should have toilet and Govt. is funding for that. The

MAPMA team and Engg. team are doing survey to identify the houses without any toilet and

listing them with region such that the official would immediately take necessary action for

constriction of IIHL. If there is no sufficient place for construction of IIHL we can go for

community toilet contributing to 20 to 30 people. So listing out such category is necessary and it

should be done by the MAPMA team.

As per September 2016, in the town total 2200 toilet are sanctioned among them 1200 are under

construction and among this 630 were constructed under 3 Phases (basement, litan, and

completion) for each phase an amount 5000 has been sanctioned.

HAPPY SUNDAYS:

This event gives an opportunity to people from all sections of society to together contribute to their city transformation. The main aim is to improve the quality of life of the people living in the city, to bring a change in the peopleslife’s encouraging them to get up early in the morning and do some physical activity likewalking, running, Yoga, The objective of “Happy Sunday” is to address the following key elements to ensure clean , healthy and liveable cities 1. Road Safety: As per Times of India Survey, More than 1.4 lac people die in India annually due to road accidents, and majority of them are pedestrians and cyclists as they are not respected on roads. 2. Air Pollution: As per WHO report, air pollution leads to more than 6.2 lac premature deaths in India every year, and this problem in severe in cities and towns. 3. Physical Inactivity: The WHO report also estimates that physical inactivity leads to more than 4.3 lac premature deaths in India every year, which is largely due to lifestyle changes. 4. Inclusive Development: Many urban local areas are becoming very exclusive as there is no formal mechanism for interaction between various cross sections of society. The outcome of this social segregation is manifested social unrests which are detrimental to our habitation.

SPECIAL SANITATION DRIVE:

Special sanitation drive was conducted to achieve control on mosquito breeding, desiltation

of major drains. The aim of the program is to bring awareness among people to achieve

cleanness surroundings. In the municipality the desiltation of panta kalava and oorava kalava

was done to maintain free from mosquito breeding and also to improve the free passage of

flow.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS:

On the occasion of Republic day Day celebrations held in kavali municipality counselors,

municipal chairperson &. Municipal staff attended to pay tribute and remember all the freedom

fighters who had contributed a lot and fought for the Independence of India and the importance

of republic day . Flag hoisting was done by hon’ble chairperson and an inspirational speech

was delivered by her.

Celebrations were held in all government offices, schools party offices ,hospitals etc in the

town

TECHNICAL EVALUATION COMMITTEE ON SEWERAGE

TREATMENT PLANT OF AMRUT PROJECT:

The technical evaluation committee on sewerage treatment plant was held in

SE(PH) Nellore. PDMC, evaluation committee, CMMU team along with

municipal engineers had attended the meeting and discussed the issues on it. The

draft DPR was submitted by PDMC and the corrections were identified and

revalidation of calculations were done by CMMU team. Later on the field visits

was done accompanied by the expert evaluation team along with PDMC,

commissioner, TPO, and CMMU staff. The valuable suggestion was made as per

site conditions by the expert committee.
