1 Navigate to E-Recruiting/Current Job Opportunities on

www.wrps.on.ca

To view Current Job Opportunities Externally at the WRPS and access the E-Recruiting

system, you will need to navigate to the Current Job Opportunities page via the

WRPS Website. You can do so by following the steps below:

From the WRPS Website, select “Current Job Opportunities” under the “Recruiting”

drop-down menu.

From here, you can view a listing of Current Job Opportunities, or click “Log In” to

access E-Recruiting or click “Not Registered Yet” to create a new account.

2 Create New Account/Log In

If you have already created an account, simply navigate to E-Recruiting on the Website

and use your username and password to log in. If you forget your username or

password, please see Section 6: Can't Log In?

To create an account, first navigate to the Current Job Opportunities page under the

“Recruiting” drop-down menu and click the “Not Registered Yet” button. This will take

you to the “Create New Account Page”.

From here, you must enter some basic information. Complete this page as accurately

as possible and then click “Submit”.

After you click “Submit”, an account activation email will be sent to the email address

you provided (image of email below). Once you receive the email, click the link in the

email to activate your account. If you cannot locate the activation email in your inbox, be

sure to check your junk mail or spam folders. If you still cannot locate it, then you can try

resending the account activation email (see Section 2.1: Resend Account Activation

Email).

2.1 Resend Account Activation Email

To resend the account activation email, navigate to the E-Recruiting Log In page and

click “Resend Account Activation Email”.

Then, enter the email address associated to the account you are attempting to create

and click “Submit”.

3 Update Profile

E-Recruiting has three main pages to update your personal information, education,

qualifications, employment history, and volunteer history:

1. Personal Information

2. Education and Qualifications

3. Employment and Volunteer History

To begin updating your profile, you must first create an account or log in (see Section

2: Create New Account/Log In).

3.1 Personal Information

Personal information includes your name, address, email, and phone numbers.

You can also change your password from the Personal Information page.

To update your personal information, from the main My Profile page after logging in to

your E-Recruiting account, click “Personal Information”.

You will then be taken to the Personal Information page where you can update your

name, address, email, phone numbers, and also change your password. Update your

information by typing in the fields and then click “Save”

3.1.1 Change Password

To change your password, from the Personal Information page, click “Click here to

change your password”.

You will then need to enter your current password, new password, confirm your new

password, and then click “Submit”.

3.2 Education and Qualifications

From your E-Recruiting account home page (My Profile) click “Education and

Qualifications”.

Adding Education and Qualification entries is straight forward – fill in the relevant fields

as accurately as possible and click “Save” when you are done. To add additional

entries, click either “+ Add Another Education” or “+ Add Another Qualification”.

Entries will automatically be ordered from newest to oldest after saving. To delete an

entry, click “Delete” (WARNING: E-Recruiting does not confirm that you want to delete

an entry, so only click “Delete” if you are sure that you want to delete the entry).

3.3 Employment and Volunteer History

From your E-Recruiting account home page (My Profile) click “Employment and

Volunteer History”.

To add Employment and Volunteer History entries, fill in the relevant fields as accurately

as possible and click “Save” when you are done. To add additional entries, click either

“+ Add Another Employment” or “+ Add Another Volunteer”. Entries will

automatically be ordered from newest to oldest after saving. To delete an entry, click

“Delete” (WARNING: E-Recruiting does not confirm that you want to delete an entry, so

only click “Delete” if you are sure that you want to delete the entry).

4 Apply for External Job Opportunities

Once you have updated your profile, you are ready to apply. The following sections

outline the steps involved in the process of applying for an external job opportunity at

the WRPS.

4.1 View Current Job Opportunities

The first step is to view Current Job Opportunities, which are listed on the Current Job

Opportunities page located on the WRPS website. Please go to Section 1: Navigate

to E-Recruiting/Current Job Opportunities on www.wrps.on.ca for complete

instructions on how to navigate to Current Job Opportunities on the WRPS Website.

Please note: When applying for a position you must complete all applicable

sections of the profile (Education, Qualifications, Employment History, and

Volunteer History) prior to submitting your application.

4.2 Select a Job to Apply

From the Current Job Opportunities page, you can review listed job opportunities and

click the one you wish to apply to.

4.3 Review Job Posting

After clicking on one of the current job opportunities, you will be taken to that position’s

job posting.

The job posting outlines relevant information about the opportunity, including a hyperlink

to the job description, application instructions, and job details (competition number,

number of vacancies, grade, hours of work, etc.).

If you’re interested in the opportunity after reviewing all information in the job posting,

then click the “Apply Online” button to begin the application process.

4.4 Log In (if necessary)

If you were not logged in to E-Recruiting when you clicked “Apply Online” in the

previous step, then you will need to log in and navigate back to Current Job

Opportunities.

If you were logged in, then you will immediately proceed with your application.

4.5 Complete Pre-Screen Questions (if applicable)

If the job you are applying for has pre-screen questions, you will need to provide your

responses. Questions with an asterisk (*) must be answered – they are mandatory

questions.

4.6 Complete Cover Letter

Next, you can complete the cover letter. Be sure to read and follow the tips for

formatting your cover letter.

It is strongly suggested that you develop and store a cover letter outside of the E-

Recruiting system (for example, in Microsoft Word), and then copy and paste your cover

letter from Word when applying to opportunities.

The purpose of the cover letter is to express your interest in the position, outline how

you meet the job requirements, and explain why you are the ideal candidate.

When your cover letter is completed to your satisfaction, click “Preview Your

Application”.

4.7 Preview and Submit Application

The preview is an opportunity for you to review your responses to the pre-screen

questions, your profile (education, qualifications, work history, and volunteer history), as

well as your cover letter.

If information needs to be changed, you can use your browser’s “page-back” button or

click on one of the E-Recruiting menu options to go back and edit your profile. Exiting

your application will not delete your pre-screen responses or cover letter – you will be

able to return to your application and continue where you left off.

When you are satisfied with your application, click “Submit Application” to submit your

application.

You will receive a notification that your application has been successfully submitted:

5 View Application History

All applications that you submit through E-Recruiting will be stored in E-Recruiting and

can be viewed at any time. To view your application history, simply log in to E-

Recruiting and click “Application History”.

Your history of applications will be stored on this page. To view the information you

submitted as part of your application, click “View”. By clicking “View”, you will be able to

see profile information (education, qualifications, work history, volunteer history),

answers to pre-screen questions, and the cover letter you submitted with each

application.

6 Can’t Log In?

If you’re unable to log in because you forget your username or password, don’t worry.

To start, navigate to the E-Recruiting Log In page and click “Forgot Username or

Password?”

You will then be taken to a screen that looks like this:

6.1 Forgot Username?

If you have forgotten your username, type in the email address associated with your

account in the “Your Email” field and click “Retrieve Username”.

You will receive a notification that your username has been sent to the email address

associated with your account.

6.2 Forgot Password?

If you have forgotten your password, type your username in the “Your Username” field

and click “Reset Password”.

You will receive a notification that instructions for resetting your password have been

sent to the email address associated with your account.

Click the link in the email to reset your password.

The link will take you to a screen where you enter your new password and confirm your

new password by typing it again. When ready, click “Submit”.

You will receive a notification that your password has been reset.

7 Log Out

You can log out of E-Recruiting by clicking “Log Out”.
