[E3] The Best Games of E3 2014 http://www.gamebasin.com/news/e3-the-best-games-of-e3-2014 E3 2014 is long and gone and we have seen a wide range of games. We went through trailers upon trailers of the new games you might play in the next couple of years, and they are already heating things up. But which games have wowed enough to become Dunham Gaming’s best games of E3 2014? We selected the ones with the most jawdropping gameplay, and the most surprising features. So let’s begin the list, with the game that is not mentioned in any press conference this year. NOTE: This list is in no particular order. Alien Isolation This may seem alien to the E3 event, as it did not appear in any of the conferences and many people didn’t see a lot of weapons there. But many have braved through the demo of this forthcoming game, and they seem to enjoy this interesting horror survival game. With its fresh and intensive gameplay that’s opposite of last year’s disaster Colonel Marines, Alien Isolation could finally become an killer app for both Creative Assembly and SEGA, which takes inspiration from the original movie. he Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Geralt of Riveria returns to E3 again, this time with a few trailers. There was one before the event that explored the story and its cool characters, while the other appeared in Microsoft’s show, displaying its gameplay and the much improved combat mechanics. It may have been delayed to 2015, but the more we see out of this RPG and its award- winning writing, the better it gets. With an open-world and more quests to beat, The Witcher 3 could eventfully become a rival to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Destiny Bungie’s non-Microsoft alternative to Halo seems to have revealed more during this year’s E3, and people got excited as a result. It’s packed with drama and action, which boasts the game’s co-op friendly adventure, RPG elements, and a much-welcomed multiplayer mode. After playing the downloadable Alpha, which came to select PS4 owners, I feel that it’s going to be one addictive and entertaining

[E3] The Best Games of E3 2014

http://www.gamebasin.com/news/e3-the-best-games-of-e3-2014

E3 2014 is long and gone and we have seen a wide range of games. We went through trailers upon

trailers of the new games you might play in the next couple of years, and they are already heating

things up. But which games have wowed enough to become Dunham Gaming’s best games of E3

2014? We  selected  the  ones with  the most  jaw‐dropping  gameplay,  and  the most  surprising

features. So let’s begin the list, with the game that is not mentioned in any press conference this

year. NOTE: This list is in no particular order.

Alien Isolation

This may seem alien to the E3 event, as it did not appear in any of

the conferences and many people didn’t see a lot of weapons there.

But many have braved through the demo of this forthcoming game, and

they seem to enjoy this interesting horror survival game. With its

fresh and intensive gameplay that’s opposite of last year’s

disaster Colonel Marines, Alien Isolation could finally become an

killer app for both Creative Assembly and SEGA, which takes

inspiration from the original movie.

he Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Geralt of Riveria returns to E3 again, this time with a few trailers.

There was one before the event that explored the story and its cool

characters, while the other appeared in Microsoft’s show, displaying

its gameplay and the much improved combat mechanics. It may have been

delayed to 2015, but the more we see out of this RPG and its award-

winning writing, the better it gets. With an open-world and more

quests to beat, The Witcher 3 could eventfully become a rival

to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Destiny

Bungie’s non-Microsoft alternative to Halo seems to have revealed

more during this year’s E3, and people got excited as a result.

It’s packed with drama and action, which boasts the game’s co-op

friendly adventure, RPG elements, and a much-welcomed multiplayer

mode. After playing the downloadable Alpha, which came to select PS4

owners, I feel that it’s going to be one addictive and entertaining

game. It’ll be up to the critics to see if this is a masterpiece or

not, but nevertheless, it might have an incentive to justify

Bungie’s goal of making this game last for 10 years. I hope that’s

the case.

FarCry 4

It was announced before E3, but FarCry 4 did manage to wow viewers on  its gameplay, which  is

taken to its Himalayan mountain heights (pun intended). It improves on the FarCry 3 experience of

taking over parts of the map and killing bandits, which now comes with Co‐op gameplay and some

new features. If elephants, wingsuits, and explosion tricks did not get you excited for this outing,

then you might have a weird taste for many things.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Not everyone is excited about this game, which continues the story of Snake after MGSV: Ground

Zeroes. But fans alike are proud to see more content for this next‐gen offering, showing evidence

of  its open‐world, advanced gameplay and classic stealth tricks, along with  its gripping trailer of

the game’s cutscenes. It may take a long time before this ‘Big Boss’ of a game gets finished for PS4,

Xbox  One,  PS3  and  Xbox  360,  but with  everything  shown  so  far  from  its  developments, The

Phantom Pain may eventfully become well worth the wait.

Assassin’s Creed Unity

I think this could be ‘the’ Assassin’s Creed of the year. Ubisoft may have released a game for the

series annually, but Unity is likely to step it up with co‐op gameplay of up to 4 players, and some

much‐desired improvements from community feedback. Could it be the game that finally makes a

revolution out of its effective formula? Hopefully, as this entry of the famous series should have

the quests and stealth action tailored to the player’s taste. Now with Co‐op power!

The Division

Ubisoft  is  certainly making  some  classic  games  of  this  year,  especially with  the  return  of  this

massive online shooter from last year. More gameplay footage, and a dramatic story from its latest

trailer, makes this post‐apocalyptic co‐op multiplayer outing something to look more forward to. It

might appear on PC and consoles somewhere in 2015, but hopefully it will be well worth the wait

for this dynamic shooter, with tactical manoeuvres and some serious action.

Batman Arkham Knight

Page 3: [E3] the best games of e3 2014

The  caped  crusader  has  already  become  a  superhero  of  the  gaming  scene,  and  his  latest

instalment Arkham Knight is already making a buzz  in E3.  If this  is  indeed the  last Batman game

from Rocksteady studios, then it’ll become a good and dramatic finish to the series, as it builds on

its open‐world gameplay with Batmobile action. With the  latest  footage showing the  incredible

action segments and varied exploration abilities, Arkham Knight is the game to watch out for, and

you don’t even have to be a fan to enjoy it.

Super Smash Bros

Nintendo did release information about the game’s features and

content before E3, but it still won people’s hearts during the

event. One tournament and a few surprises, and more people are

getting excited about this year’s hot new Wii U game. They even

announced a few surprising new characters including Pacman! With

gameplay footage spoils, Amiibo figurines, and promising

information, Super Smash Bros is going to be a treat for all

Nintendo system owners this holiday season.

Legend of Zelda (Wii U)

Only an announcement trailer has surfaced for this new Zelda game,

but it is still better soon than later as the Wii U needs that killer

app! Thankfully, unlike the majority of trailers shown at E3, the

trailer for this sequel is rendered in-game. That means it’s likely

that it will be set in an open world, with lush HD graphics, high-

tech gadgets, and possibly some cool features to explore. Expect this

to show more information along with a new StarFox game in the

following months, but for now, this footage alone should be enough to

get you excited!

…and the best game at E3 2014 is…

No Man’s Sky

This indie game made by a few people has made itself ‘The Best Game

of E3 2014’, thanks to its fresh and wonderful gameplay. It’s so

exciting to see players exploring worlds, discovering new kinds of

creatures, and using spaceships for large-scale travel. It’s likely

to have a persistent online world too, allowing for conflicts and

dogfights against other players. It packs in vibrant graphics and

random generated worlds, which prove you don’t need a big budget to

create a game as interesting as this beauty. We are yet to see a

release date for the game, which will come out on PS4 and PS Vita

first before the other platforms, but everyone is talking about it

and it’s going to be one grand adventure to die for!

Honorable Mentions: Uncharted 4, Rise of  the Tomb Raider, The Order 1886, Sunset Overdrive,

Bloodbourne, Halo Master Chief Collection, Dragon Age Inquisition, Ori and the Blind Forest.
