Did you know all of your teachers are graduates? That means they went to university. Each
day, we will tell you a bit about what we studied and why we loved getting our degrees.
Mrs Marshall
Before I trained as a teacher I went to the London College of Fashion
and studied Fashion Management. Fashion was always something I
loved and one of my sixth form teachers suggested looking into this
degree as I didn’t know fashion management was something you could
even study. Doing my degree covered so many different subjects
from economics, to design, and even learning to speak Italian (I’ve
forgotten most of it now!). This university was just behind Oxford
Street in central London, so I spent a lot of time (and money!)
shopping between lectures! I also liked that I didn’t have to move
away from home to go to university and liked spending time after
lectures exploring London.
English Friday
Getting ready for Year 4
Now you know who your teacher is for next year, your task is to write a letter
to them. You should tell them all about you, what you like, what you don’t like,
what makes you smile and lots of other things. You can either email this letter
to [email protected] or you can post the letter to the
school. Your new teacher can then read your letter, as they are really looking
forward to getting to know you. You don’t have to write your address. Please
send them in this week.
Example:
Dear My New Teacher,
I am so glad that you are going to be my Year 4 teacher, I am really
looking forward to meeting you. Let me introduce myself. My name is
Nailah and I am currently in Plum class. I have two sisters and a silly
dog called Rex. My favourite subjects are English, because I love to
write stories, and PE because I am really good at football.
Sometimes, I find maths tricky so I hope I will get lots of time to
practise this year.
When I am not at school I like to ride my scooter.
I can’t wait to meet you soon.

Number of ice creams sold
Task:
On which day were the most ice-creams sold?
When were the least ice-creams sold?
How many more ice-creams were sold on Sunday than Friday?
What was the second most popular day for buying ice creams?
Why do you think ice-creams were most popular at the weekend?
Challenge:
a) What other questions could we ask about this graph?
b) Your job is to tell the owners of how of business many ice-cream
they need to order for the next 4 weeks. What would you tell them
to buy? Why?
We could be Statisticians.
Example:
On which day did 2 ice-creams get sold?
Answer: Monday
Reading graphs helps you make
choices like what you want to buy,
what you want to sell and where you
want to travel to.
Friday’s answers
c)
Challenge:
1) What other questions could we ask about this graph? Various
answers possible.
2) Your job is to tell the owners of how of business many ice-cream
they need to order for the next 4 weeks. What would you tell them
to buy? Anything between 170- 220 Why? 44 ice-creams were sold
in one week. 4 weeks x 44 = 176 but there might been some weeks
when people buy more ice-cream because it might be very hot or
people might be on holiday.
Task:
On which day were the most ice-creams sold? Saturday
When were the least ice-creams sold? Monday
How many more ice-creams were sold on Sunday than Friday? 5
What was the second most popular day for buying ice-creams?
Sunday
Why do you think ice-creams were most popular at the weekend?
I think that the weekend was the most popular day for selling ice-
creams because most people do not work or go to school at the
weekends. This means that they have got more time to relax and eat
ice-creams.

This month is pride month.
Every year, during the month of June, the LGBT+ community celebrates in a
number of different ways. Across the globe, various events are held during this
special month as a way of recognising the influence LGBT+ people have had
around the world.
.
This year, pride marches were not allowed because of the Covid 19 social
distancing rules.
Think about why you are proud to be you?
Write your thoughts in proud clouds, like below, to help remind you
every day what you have to be proud of.
We need to treat each other
fairly and equally.
