Brr! It’s cold outside, but we still have lots of fun activities indoors to keep you busy this winter and spring. Art, karate, basketball, soccer and lots more! Make sure to register, as spaces fill up fast! See Registration-page 19.

From the Mayor ElectResidents of Eagle and surrounding areas have an excellent opportunity to participate in a variety of activities sponsored by the City of Eagle’s Parks and Recreation Department. Eagle is committed to providing recreation services that enhance the quality of life for all age groups. The City’s Parks and Recreation staff has expanded services and is responsible for a variety of programs, in addition to our wonderful traditional recreation programs. Cultural activities and events are designed to provide a sense of community as well as attracting residents and visitors to Eagle to support Eagle’s business community. A few of the activities and events include the responsibility and management of the Eagle Saturday Market, Gazebo Concert Series, Harvest Fest and Country Christmas. Newly elected Council members campaigned to enhance Eagle’s vibrant community by providing additional activities requested by residents.

Your participation and input for these and future activities are warmly welcomed.

Pirate Map Art / 8-12 yrsArrrrr, mateys! Join us as we explore the wonderful world of pirates and maps. Students will learn how to use a crow quill pen- as cartographers did in the days of old, when they fashioned maps that stirred the imagination and shared information! We will use pirate and ship images, and watercolor techniques to create a beautiful map, in addition to

learning how to add dimension and shading with the crow quill pen.

Drawing 201Teen & AdultDrawing establishes an important foundation for all of the visual arts. Join this level 2 class as we continue our exploration and study of the elements of art as they relate to drawing with graphite/pencil. We will expand on the important topics of value, shape and line, as well as delve into space, form, and balance. Students will end the class with two finished pieces. Some experience with drawing is required.

Charcoal & Colored Chalk Pastel 101 Teen & AdultCome explore the wonderful world of charcoal and colored pastel pencils! As both mediums are grainy in nature, they can be combined together in art pieces quite well, or utilized alone in single mediums. This class will cover the tools of the

trade, techniques, papers/substrates for both mediums, how to achieve value gradation in black & white/color, and the use of line to form beautiful subject matter. Some basic art theory will also be covered. Students will leave the class with a completed work of art and an understanding of two fantastic dry mediums.

• New park equipment: be on the lookout for new bulletin boards at Merrill and Guerber Parks! These boards will help us display park reservations, upcoming programs/events, and general information about Eagle Parks & Recreation.

• Three new events are coming your way this spring (check out the back cover of the guide for more information about each of these programs):

• Trail Treasure Trek- family scavenger hunt on the greenbelt and other river trails

• Trail Eggxtravaganza- Easter egg hunt on Eagle’s paths and trails

• Yappy Hour- Eagle’s first pop-up dog park coming to Merrill Park

• Dog Park- we are beginning the process of planning for a future dog park in Eagle. Join us January 25th from 6-8 pm for an open house to share your input and ideas.

• Hidden improvements: a new smart irrigation system will be installed at Guerber Park. This new system will allow us to remotely monitor the soil moisture and make adjustments accordingly.

• The greenbelt paving project on the north side of the north channel of the Boise River is now complete, connecting Eagle to Garden City.

REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY: Please register at least two business days before the program start date to avoid program cancellation. If minimum registration is not met two business days prior to program start date, the city of Eagle reserves the right to cancel the class. Should this occur, a full refund or program credit will be issued.Refunds must be requested in writing at least three business days prior to the program start date. All refunds are subject to a $5 service charge (no service charge if refund is a program credit).
