Poetry Out Loud Regional Competition
Shout out to sophomore, Otis Woodard, who
represented CVPA in the St. Louis Regional
Competition of Poetry Out Loud
earlier this month. Otis placed 4th in the
competition. He was cheered on by several members
of his family, including his father, (pictured at right) who sadly passed away last week.
Very proud of you, Otis! Our thoughts
and prayers with you and your family.

waves using a vibrating string.
The vibrating string is perfect for investigating
waves because the waves are
large enough to see easily. The
students are then able to apply
these concepts to how most musical
instruments function!

Academy Summer Intensive 2015 in
Los Angeles.
Ms. Holloman will train intensively
with Debbie Allen for a month,
culminating in a recital this summer. Black Rep Performs At CVPA
In honor of
Black History Month,
actors from the Black Rep
visited Central and performed
their production of
“Anne and Emmett,” a creative play that imagines the conversation between
teenagers, Anne Frank and Emmett Till, both historical victims of hate and prejudice.

Black History Month Performance
In celebration of Black History Month, CVPA is hosting a Performing Arts Night and Visual
Art Show on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.
From 5-7pm, visit the “Black Lives Matter” visual art installation in the new art gallery. The performing arts show will take place in
the theater at 7pm. Admission is $5.
