Ziggurat – important building, often a temple.The most important cities were Ur and Babylon.It was on fertile land between the rivers Tigris and Euphrates.
Pharaoh – a kingPyramids – tombs for the Pharaohs.It was next to the river Nile.They had many gods and believed in the afterlive.They mummified dead bodies.
It was on the Greek peninsula.They built acropolises.They started Olympic games. They introduced Democracy.They believed in many gods.They developed literature, architecture, theatre, sculpture and philosophy.

The Roman society
The EMPEROR controlled the Roman Empire.
The PATRICIANS were a smal group of very rich, powerful families
who lived in beautiful houses.
The PLEBEIANS were farmers, traders, shop owners and
craftworkers.
They lived in smal homes.
They had to pay money to the Emperor and go to the war
when the Emperor needed them.
The SLAVES did the hard work onthe farms, in the mines and in the
houses of the rich.
They were captured in the wars.

Positive things
Latin language: people could understand each other.
Roman law: they were the same everywhere for eveyone.
Calendar: it has weeks and months and is still used today.
New agriculture techniques: irrigation.
Architectural techniques: aqueducts, amphitheatres and
roads.
Heating and sewage systems.
The introduction of Christianity.
They exported wheat, olive oil, wine, salt, cloth, gold,
silver and iron.
Hadrian and Trajan were Spanish Emperors.
Romanisation was the process when conquered people slowly
adopted the Roman way of life.
