Earth Day
What is Earth Day?
For over 40 years, Earth Day – April 22nd – is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year – also in Poland.
This is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment.
Earth Day in Poland
In Polish cities there were a lot of happenings, meetings, workshops or marches on the streets, where people could show that they care about our planet.
Save the Planet
In some places people could exchange used plastic or glass bottles, batteries or paper into plants, small trees or eco-bags. Some areas of towns were excluded from public transport
This year all activities werefocused on forests. The main slogan was:
„Forest – quite close to us”
Forests
Schools
Every year children in schools also participate in different activities that day.
Activities in school
This year teachers and students from our school prepared short plays about the environment and forests.
Fashion
There was also a fashion show – children made clothes from plastic bags, paper and aluminium foil.
Poems
Students wrote and recited ecological poems.
Ecological tasks
There was also an Environmental Knowledge Competition between classes
How Can We Celebrate Earth Day?
Even small actions can have great consequences! Pick up litter, recycle, turn off the water when you brush your teeth, switch to online bill payments, use public
transportation, turn down your water heater, install energy efficient lights.
„Are You making a difference to enhance, protect and invest in the quality of life for generations of this planet we named Earth” ?
Thank You !
