2.8 Combat and Exploration Mode

There are two modes in which your character can play. You can switch between modes at any

time using the ALT key:

Exploration Mode

This mode allows you to move faster and regenerate Hit Points. However, you will receive a

greater amount of damage from all sources. While in Exploration Mode, you may interact

with NPCs and objects freely.

Combat mode

In this mode you move slower, your Stamina regenerates at a 50% rate and your Hit Points do

not regenerate at all. However, you receive a damage reduction bonus and more importantly

Page 10: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 10

you are able to equip weapons. Switching to Combat mode changes the standard cursor to a

targeting reticle. While in Combat Mode you, you cannot interact with NPCs and objects.

2.9 Locked and Unlocked Cursor Modes

By pressing the TAB button, you can switch between Locked Cursor and Unlocked Cursor

modes.

While in Locked Cursor mode, the cursor is centered in the game window. Additionally, the

camera will enter the so-called mouse view – by moving the mouse, both the camera and

your character themselves will follow – allowing faster, more precise rotation.

Pressing TAB again will switch to Unlocked Cursor mode, returning the cursor to its normal

state, not bound to camera and character movement.

3 Character

3.1 Equipment and Character Stats

The Equipment Dialog provides an overview of your character's Paperdoll and its stats:

Page 11: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 11

Equipment

You can access your character's Paperdoll screen by clicking the Toggle Equipment Dialog

button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen, or by using the assigned shortcut ('P' by

default).

Stats

After accessing the ‘Paperdoll’ screen, you can view the stats of your character by clicking on

the right-hand arrow button to extend the Stats screen.

The first section of the Stats sheet highlights the most defining features of your character’s

personality. Included in this section is the Name, the Guild (if any), and the Affiliation of your

character. Then you have the Battle Rating – a measure of your character’s power and skill –

this rating will change dynamically, increasing or decreasing as you change equipment and

gain new skills. A similar stat is the Crafting Rating which shows your ability to create

different items in the game. The Criminal Karma (CK) is an important stat directly connected

to the PvP activity of your character and your affiliation.

Page 12: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 12

3.2 Affiliation and Criminal Status

In Earthrise characters can affiliate with one of the two major Factions – Continoma or Noir

– or they can stay out of the raging conflict between the two and declare neutrality. As a

result, the character may be Noir, Continoma or Neutral. This may result in NPCs and Guards

becoming aggressive or offer assistance to you.

Your character’s Level of Contribution and Criminal Karma defines how other players and

NPCs treat you.

First of all, when you start the game you will be Neutral. If you kill a Continoma or Noir NPC

or player you will gain or lose some Level of Contribution (LoC) points. On a given score of

LoC – either +X or –X you will become respectively a Continoma or a Noir Player.

How does this affect PvP?

Whenever a Continoma player attacks and kills a Noir player or NPC, he will receive a certain

amount of LoC points. Whenever the Continoma player kills another Continoma Player or

NPC he will lose certain amount of LoC points and gain Criminal Karma points. If a

Continoma player kills a Neutral player he will gain a given amount of Criminal Karma points.

Whenever a Noir player attacks and kills a Continoma player or NPC, he will lose a certain

amount of LoC points. Whenever the Noir player kills another Noir player or NPC he will gain

certain amount of LoC points and gain Criminal Karma points. If a Noir player kills a Neutral

player he will gain a given amount of Criminal Karma points.

Page 13: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 13

When a Neutral player kills another Player – being he a Noir, Continoma or Neutral – the killer

will receive Criminal Karma points.

When you gain Criminal Karma points, most NPCs and Guards will react aggressively to you

and will attack on site – so stay out of towns until your Criminal Karma points reach zero. You

lose Criminal Karma points over time and will have to hide out until the buzz about your

crime fades.

If you manage to slaughter enough innocent people, you’ll become a Player Killer (PK). While

a PK you stop losing Criminal Karma points over time and must wait until your CK reaches

zero. During this time you will appear as a Highly Dangerous target to anyone and you will

not award CK points to your killers.

3.3 Combat and Tactics skills

You can access your character's Skills screen by clicking on the Toggle Skills Dialog button on

the bottom of the screen, or by using the assigned shortcut ('K' by default):

The Skill screen is separated into four tabs, each corresponding to one of the four general

skill categories - Combat, Tactics, Production, and Processing. Through the course of your

game play you are awarded Battle Points for completing quests and defeating enemies. Your

Battle Points total is shown on the bottom of the Skill window when either the Combat or

Tactics tab is selected. You can use these points to upgrade your Combat and Tactics skills.

In order to choose from the various

skills press the corresponding

category Tab. Clicking the arrow

button in front of a skill's name opens

a drop-down menu that shows all the

specific abilities granted by the skill.

In order to purchase a specific ability,

press the (+) button on the right-hand

side of the window. Purchasing the

ability will reduce your available Battle

Points by the specific value.

Page 14: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 14

If you want to learn a Tactics skill you should press the Tactics tab on the Skill Dialog and

choose a skill from the drop-down menu. Press the (+) button on the right side in order to

spend from your Battle Points and learn the tactic.

Once you have purchased a Combat Ability you can upgrade it by combining it with a Tactics

Ability. First, you need to purchase a Tactics slot for the particular Combat ability by pressing

the (+) button with the ability selected. A square icon will appear within the ability icon to

indicate that the ability can now be upgraded with a Tactic. Each Combat Ability can have up

to two Tactic slots purchased. Once you have purchased a Tactic slot, an arrow button

becomes available next to the (+) button for the selected Combat ability. Pressing it will open

the Combine menu, providing a list of unlocked and compatible tactics for the chosen Ability.

Not all of the Abilities are compatible with all of the Tactics. You can combine Abilities and

Tactics as long as there is a free slot. In order to empty a slot you can just click on it. Confirm

your choice when satisfied with the Tactics selection and your Combat ability will be

upgraded accordingly.

Page 15: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 15

3.4 Crafting Skills

You can find the Crafting Skills on the last two tabs of the Skill Dialog – Production and

Processing. To learn a crafting skill you will need enough Crafting Points or Credits.

In the Production tab you will find all the skills used to create items such as Weapons,

Armors, Devices, Consumables (the products which you can use outside of the Crafting

System).

Page 16: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 16

In the Processing tab you will find all the skills used to produce raw materials for use directly

with the Crafting System.

To learn the desired Crafting Ability open the Skill Dialog and then choose the Production or

Processing tab. Select one of the Skills from the drop down menu accessed by the arrow

button to choose a specific Ability. By pressing the (+) button on the right-hand side you can

acquire the Ability if you have enough Crafting Points and Credits. Crafting Points are earned

through using a Craft Station to manufacture items or raw materials and your Crafting Points

total is shown on the bottom of the Skill window, with the Production or Processing tab

selected.

Page 17: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 17

3.5 Inventory

The Inventory dialog lists the items your character carries. To open the inventory press the

Inventory Icon in the Quick Access Bar or press “I”.

This is how your inventory looks. On the upper side of the window there is a list of tabs

filtering the item types displayed and arrows used for scrolling between them. The dropdown

button can be used to display the tabs as a list.

Below is the main part of your Inventory menu. It displays Inventory slots, which may include

items.

Page 18: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 18

The inventory panel scrolls via the scroll bar or the scroll buttons located above and below

the scroll bar. When you move your mouse over an item, a tooltip for that item appears,

showing its properties.

Different items have different properties. Different types of items have different statistics.

When you have items in your inventory and meet the corresponding skills requirement (if

any) – you can equip and use them. There are several ways to equip an item:

Drag it from your inventory to your equipment dialog and drop it (you do not need to

drop it in the exact corresponding slot – the item will find and equip itself in the

necessary slot automatically);

Click on an item in your inventory and then click on the slot of the equipment dialog to

equip it;

Holding the "control" key (Ctrl) on your keyboard and clicking on an item from your

inventory will automatically equip this item.

Holding the “Shift” key and pointing over the items will highlight the items you can

merge.

Page 19: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 19

Holding the "control" key (Ctrl) and pointing over an equipable item will pop up a tooltip

comparing it to the one you have equipped on your avatar (if there is one equipped).

You can automatically sort items in your inventory by clicking the Sort Button . You can

also put items from your inventory on the belt bar.

3.6 Insurance

If you pay for insurance you will not lose the insured items upon death. In the Inventory

dialog below the items view you will find the Buy Insurance Slots button and the Insure

Item button . With these you can buy insurance points and use them to insure items in

your inventory.

Upon death you will lose insurance from one of your items, chosen randomly. You can select

any other insured item to be the one to lose its insurance instead of the suggested one.

4 World navigation

4.1 World Map

The map in Earthrise is a particularly useful tool. The World Map, also known as Global Map,

is a full screen dialogue which shows the map of the entire game world of Earthrise.

You can access the World Map by clicking on the corresponding icon on the Toolbar or by

pressing the assigned hotkey ("M" by default). As in all Toolbar dialogs, you will have to be in

Exploration Mode in order to be able to open/interact with it.

When you open the map the following screen will appear:

In the central section of the screen is the map of the Area you're currently in displayed,

including main points of interest. You will see the Area name on the top of the map screen.

On the right-hand side you have the map filters, allowing you to browse only through a

certain type of map elements. You can navigate through the world map by double click. The

mouse scroll will zoom it in and out.

Clicking the icon on the lower left-hand side of the Area Map and then clicking on the map

will allow you to write a short note for your convenience. Pressing "Ctrl" and clicking on the

note will erase it.

Page 21: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 21

4.2 Teleports

Teleports in Earthrise are a useful way to travel between Areas. There are a few types of

teleports:

Big Teleports

They are placed in the main game world settlements. Most of them are connected to each

other forming a Teleportation Network but some do not allow transportation to specific

teleports. For example, the teleports owned by the fighting factions of Continoma and Noir

will not – naturally – allow you to travel to the enemy's territory.

When you interact with a Big Teleport, the Teleport Menu will be displayed showing a list

with all the Big Teleports that you have discovered and are available for transfer from your

current position. Each Great Teleport entry has a corresponding name, description and a

Credits fee that will be deducted from your character's money should you chose to travel to

the designated location.

Based on your Faction Affiliation, you are restricted to choose only teleport destinations

aligned with your Faction. You are also restricted to choose from teleports you know about.

Locations that you have discovered but cannot travel to, because of your affiliation, will

appear greyed-out and will be disabled. Some Big Teleports have no affiliation–neutral and all

Page 22: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 22

players are able to use them regardless of their alignment. Unaligned players can use all

teleports in the world.

Each Big Teleport has its own distinct color identification. Some of the Big Teleports will be

available to your character from its very creation, others you will have to discover and unlock

for yourself by approaching them within the game world. When a new Big Teleport has been

unlocked you will be notified by a pop-up message.

The Subsidiary Teleports

They are one-way teleports associated with a Big Teleport and offering transportation to it.

They work only in one direction, meaning that they have a teleportation entrance and

teleportation exit, where the exit is next to a Big Teleport.

The Jumpers

Page 23: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 23

They are two-way instant teleports connected in pairs, offering transportation only to each

other in both directions. They don’t have an associated color and their tooltip shows just

"Jumper". They don’t have a Credit fee, affiliation or other restrictions.

When you walk to a teleport and interact with it the following menu will appear:

A list of the teleports you have already discovered is shown, as well as the corresponding

price to use them. In the left-hand side of the menu, you will see a picture of the zone you

have selected, its name and a brief description of the zone. When you click the Network

button, a World Map will appear. In the World Map window, you can zoom-in and zoom-out

in order to see the exact locations of your unlocked destination teleports. You can use a

teleport by clicking the icon on the map.

4.3 Resurrection

When a player dies, the Area

Map window will be opened.

The Area Map will give you the

ability to choose where to

resurrect by clicking on one of

the Resurrection Points you

have previously discovered. If

you don't choose a

Resurrection Point within 15

seconds, you will be

automatically resurrected at

the Resurrection Point nearest

to your point of death. After

resurrection, you will appear

Page 24: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 24

on a Resurrection Point platform with 50% of your Hit Points, Energy and Stamina points.

While you don't lose item durability when you die, you will lose all of the uninsured items in

your inventory. These items remain in the loot container that appears on your corpse upon

death.

5 Crafting In Earthrise, you will craft your own items, reduce loot to raw materials and modify your gear

with enhancements. To perform crafting, you will first need to reach a Craft Station. When

interacting with a Craft Station, the following crafting dialogue will appear:

The Factory Production Unit information is at the top – it displays what are the type and

maximum level of the items you can create at this particular Crafting Station. In the Processes

window, you can see all the abilities available at each particular Crafting Station, as well as the

Designs and Blueprints available for manufacture. In the Inventory window, you can see all the

items and raw materials available to use in crafting. The Manufacture window is your workbench.

You will have to put the resources you wish to use in the manufacturing process. The Factory

Info window displays all the information for the crafting process that you have chosen.

5.1 Disassembling

This option allows you to break items down to their lesser components. You first need to

select the 'Disassemble' Category. You then place the item or items you wish to Disassemble

Page 25: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 25

into the Work Table. In the Information Box, you can see the items that you will receive as

result. Be advised that this could result in products with lower quality than the original item.

5.2 Recycling

Using Recycling process will allow you to derive Resources from scrap items known as Parts.

You will first need to select the 'Recycling' Category. Then place the Part or Parts you wish to

recycle into the Work Table. In the Information Box, you will see the items you'll receive as a

result.

5.3 Manufacturing

The Manufacturing Process allows you to produce items by using Technologies. First, you

need to select a Technology from the 'Manufacturing' Category. Then you need to place the

required ingredients into the Work Table. In the Information Box, you will see the items

required for the process to take place, as well as the projected results. Be advised that using

the Manufacturing Process has a risk of failure that won't produce the projected result and at

worse, can lower the quality of the used ingredients.

5.4 Designs Processing

Using the Designs Process allows you to produce Blueprint items from Designs. This process

differs from other processes. It still requires ingredients to work out the desired result, but

the process won't consume these items. Instead, it will reduce their quality, producing the

Blueprint item as an optimization based on the qualities of the required ingredients. To

initialize the Engineering Process, you need to select a Design from the 'Engineering'

Category. Then you need to place the required ingredients onto the Work Table. In the

Information Box you will see the items required for the process to take place.

6 Quests There are many NPC

characters that have

tasks for you and these

NPCs can give you

valuable information or

quests. Talk to any NPC

character by clicking on

them. This will cause a

dialogue window to

appear:

Page 26: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 26

The NPCs’ quest conversation is located in the upper part of the dialogue window. In the lower

part of the window are the dialogue options. Select any of the presented options that may appear.

Once you have accepted a quest, you can keep track of it by checking the “Track this quest”

option in your quest log. Look above an NPC's head for these distinctive icons:

- they have something to discuss with you

- they have quests available for you

- they are waiting for you to return after accomplishing a quest – their quest

has not yet been completed

- they are ready to reward you for completing their request

7 Party In order to overcome greater challenges or just to enjoy the game together, you can invite other

players into a Party. To do this, you have to type /invite followed by a player's name, and press

Enter. This will send an invitation to the particular player to join your party. The other player will

receive an invitation to join your party unless he is already a member of one. If the player accepts

your invitation you will form a party with him.

Page 27: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 27

While in a party you will be able to access the party chat channel by typing /p. Your party

members will have access to your abilities as friendly targets by default and you will be able to

see the list of party members on the left side of the screen. In a party you will be allowed to see a

Player Portrait Ring. The portraits of your party members will appear on the fringe of the Player

Portrait Ring and will move around you according to your location allowing you to easily access

information about the location and the direction of your party members. You can also see icons

identical to yours, only smaller, for your party mates on the World Map and Mini Map.

You can leave a party by clicking the small red icon on the right of your avatar portrait or by

typing /pleave.

8 Guilds

8.1 Registering a Guild

You can register a guild unless you are part of one already. In order to register a guild, you will

have to go to a guild registration terminal. You can find a guild registration terminal in the

major cities – Sal Vitas, The Core, Eastern Gardens, Tech Collective Base, The Nest and The

Arboretum.

Page 28: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 28

Interacting with the Guild Registration Terminal will open the Guild registration Menu.

Here you'll be asked to type your Guild's name, Initials and a short Description for your guild.

You will have to pay a fee in order to register your guild, but once you have paid the fee, you

will be a happy brand-new Guild Master!

8.2 Managing Your Guild

When you create a Guild, a new menu button will appear on the bottom left part of your

screen. This button opens the guild menu from where you can see all players that are

currently part of your guild. While you're in a Guild, you'll have access to the guild chat

channel (typing /g in the chat), your nameplate will display the name of your guild and you'll

be able to send personal messages to your guild-mates via the guild menu.

Page 29: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 29

If you are a Guild Master you will have extended command options for managing your guild.

You can Kick players or even choose to pass your Leadership to another member of the guild.

These options can be accessed by clicking on the given guild member's name in the guild

menu.

A Guild Master can access and manage the Guild’s Information menu. Here, he can set

Message of the Day and change the Description of the guild.

8.3 Inviting other Players to join your Guild

Guild Masters can invite other players to join their guild. This can be done by typing /ginvite

followed by the player's Name and pressing Enter. This will send an invitation to the given

player. In order to join the guild the player will have to click Accept. You can greet him/her as

a part of your guild!

Page 30: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 30

9 Mail When you have unread in-game mail a small flashing icon will appear at the bottom of your

Minimap.

The digit beside the icon indicates the number of unread messages that you have. If you

want, you can click on the icon and it will disappear until you receive a new message.

To access your in-game mail you will have to approach a Mailbox or a Mail Service Terminal.

Page 31: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 31

Interacting with the Mailbox will bring up the Inbox menu. This is a list of all in-game mail

that you've received.

Clicking on a message in your inbox menu will select that message and open it. Here you can

view the person or system that sent you the selected message, the date it was sent, its subject

and its text. Mail can contain money which you can take by clicking the “Take” button. Mail

may also contain items, which you can take by clicking on them and placing them in your

inventory or by using the “Take All” option.

Page 32: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 32

You can send mail to another player by clicking the “Compose Mail” button or by Replying to a

mail sent to you. In the Send Mail window you have to write an avatar name and a subject for the

message. In addition to typing a text for the message, you also can send items and money. If you

select the COD option, the amount of money would be requested from the recipient instead of

sending them the amount.

10 Commerce In Earthrise you can trade with other players by either using the Player-to-Player trading or the

Auction House. These are both useful ways to barter with other players and provide different

benefits and restrictions. If you want to cut your deals in personal or barter one item for another

you can choose the Player Trading while the Auction House is more useful for larger deals and if

you want to manage your sales from the safety of the major cities.

Page 33: Earthrise English Manual

Page | 33

10.1 Player Trading

To begin a Trade with another player, you will need to be near the player you want to trade

The Player Trading window is separated into two sections – one for you and the other one for

the other player. In the left side of the screen you can place items and money you want to give

to the other player. Once you're ready to give him/her the items and/or money, click Ready.

The other player will have to click Ready on their own to confirm the transaction.

10.2 Auction House

If you want to sell and buy items in large numbers you can use the Auction House. It allows

you to barter with multiple players all around the world and exchange goods for prices set by

the players themselves.

To use the Auction House, you’ll have to reach an Auction House terminal. These terminals

are situated in the major cities – Sal Vitas, The Core and the Headquarters of the four neutral

organizations – Eastern Gardens, Tech Collective Base, The Arboretum and The Nest.

Interacting with the console will allow you to access the Auction House interface. You can

browse the items sold by other players, buy items and sell items on your own.

Browsing the Auction House

You can search the Auction House using the extensive search filters. You can also search for

an item type, which will display all items of that type.

Once you have selected an Item Type, the Subtype option will become available, allowing you

to search more specific categories of items. You can also search items in the Auction House

by typing a only part of an item name. While doing a partial item name search, using all the

filters at the same time will result in a very specific search – for example, you can opt to

search for Item Type: Armor, Item Subtype: Vest and part of the name “Avalanche”.

You can use the sort options to arrange the list of items in Ascending and Descending order,

as well as sorting the items by Name, Time Left and Price.

for information on the in-game mail system.

Selling items via the Auction House

To sell an item via the Auction House, you must first click the “Sell Item” button. It will open

the Sell Item menu where you must drag an item in order to sell it. You can set your price

11 Combat As Earthrise is a FFA PvP game you must be prepared to fight for your life and possessions.

Combat has few essentials that you have to master.

When your character has an enemy targeted click the Left Mouse Button to initiate a Basic

Attack. Holding your mouse will continue executing Basic Attacks against the target. If you have

learned at least one ability and you're holding the right weapon (or have the proper device

equipped) you can select the ability by pressing the corresponding button – if the ability is on the

front bar, you can press the given number key (1-8) and if it is on the rear bar – press F1-F8. You

can switch your action bar positions by Ctrl+MouseWheelScroll.

When you use ability, it will stop your Basic Attack and will begin focusing on the ability. After it's

ready you'll have a small window of opportunity to use the ability called suspend time – it's

usually 5 seconds. To execute the ability, left click the desired target. If the ability needs no

targeting – for example targets you or all enemies/allies around you, it will execute automatically

after its focus bar fills up.

Remember that in Earthrise there's no target locking and that you must always keep your cursor

over the enemy's target circle. Movement however will not cancel your combat actions so you

can flee or pursue an enemy while firing on the move.

You can always pick on a player or NPC that appears as ally or friend, if you wish. You can do this

by holding Ctrl while attacking – this produces Force Attack. Remember that you can Force-Attack

with abilities, too. Forcing an Area-of-Effect attack or healing ability will deal damage or heal any

target within range so beware!

Maintaining proper distance from the target is essential as most weapons behave differently at

different ranges. You can find information about the range modifiers of your weapon in its

tooltip. There you can see the three ranges, followed by a percentage. This means that your

weapon will inflict the given percent of its damage at this range. For example 3 [30%] means that

at 3m or closer your weapon will deal only 30% of its damage. Ranged attackers should be aware

that most ranged weapons attack at melee range with stock attack or bayonet attack and deal

much lower damage than at range.

Melee attackers and Flamethrower-users should know that their attacks will automatically target

all enemies inside a small cone in front of them. This helps for delivering good AoE damage as

well as faster easier targeting.

Remember that you can always close short distances quickly by using your Sprint. Holding Shift

while moving will make your character Sprint, increasing his/her speed. You can still attack while

Sprinting.
