Where We Are – Delegate Agencies
In addition to serving farmworker families directly, East Coast Migrant Head Start Project also serves farmworker families by funding non-profits who operate programs in communities where ECMHSP lacks a local presence.

What we do: Disability Services
• ECMHSP welcomes children with disabilities into our program.
• ECMHSP partners with therapists, local school systems and early intervention programs to ensure each child's growth and development.
What we do: Disability Services
Our team of Disability Services Coordinators ensures that each child in our care is fully included and engaged in classroom activities and routines.
What we do: Early Childhood Education
• ECMHSP early education services are designed to put each child we serve on a path to school success.
• Our culturally-responsive curriculum targets the language, literacy, and other school readiness skills of older toddlers and preschoolers in each
of their languages.
What we do: Early Head Start
• The goal of ECMHSP’s EHS programs is to help families care for their infants and toddlers through early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive services. Through this program we serve pregnant women, infants, and toddlers until age 3.
What we do: Health Services
• ECMHSP partners with local community-based organizations to provide a variety of health services for children aged zero to six.
• In addition, mental health consultants visit each of our centers on a regular basis, to provide guidance in meeting the socio-emotional needs of each child.
What we do: Nutrition
• ECMHSP offers comprehensive nutrition services to the children we serve.
• We train our parents to plan healthy meals, shopping on a budget, and the benefits of breast feeding.
What we do: Transportation
• Without transportation services, many children living in poverty would not receive a Head Start. This is especially true in Migrant Head Start Programs.
• We at ECMHSP meet this need by providing safe and on time transportation services in modern, environmentally-controlled school buses, in accordance with Federal and State Laws.
How Our Service Affects The Life Of Our Farmworkers and the Community
Through our interaction with the community and our partners the children we serve and their families are able to highlight their experiences.
This enables the wider community to become more aware of service, sacrifices and how vital the work is in feeding the nation.
2015-16 National Public Radio Series on the Farmworker Experience
Five stories aired on NPR featuring the farmworker experience.
Each story featured an ECMHSP family, or included an ECMHSP parent as part of the story.
Key to success were parents who were willing to share their work and experience with nation, and local staff able to connect reporter to story.
