The Lord is risen!

He is risen indeed: Alleluia!

Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.

Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

Christ the Lord is risen, enter his sanctuary singing. Shout to the Lord, “Alleluia;” bless His holy name forever! Enter his gates with thanksgiving; come into his courts with praise. Let all the nations, all men and children everywhere Unite in singing, the Lord of Hosts is with us. We lift our voices, our joyful songs break forth. Alleluia, to God the Lord be glory evermore. Alleluia, sing praises evermore!

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.* The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Personal Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)

The Corporate Confession of Sin

O Lord, we marvel that you would become incarnate, be crucified, dead, andburied. The tomb calls forth my adoring wonder, for it is empty and you are risen; the four gospels attest it, the living witnesses prove it, my heart’s experience knows it.

Permit me to die with you that I may rise to new life, for I wish to be as dead and buried to sin, to selfishness, to the world; that I might not hear the voice of the charmer, and might be delivered from his lusts.

O Lord, there is much sin in me—crucify it, much flesh within me—mortify it. Help me consider my old life dead because of crucifixion, and never feed it as a living thing.

Help me to be resolute and Christ-contained. Never let me wander from the path of obedience to your will. Help me to be a holy, happy person, free from every wrong desire, from everything contrary to your will. Grant me more and more of the resurrection life: may it rule me, may I walk in its power, and be strengthened through its influence. adapted from Easter Prayer, From the Valley of Vision

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ...................................................... Romans 6:4-7We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

The Response—Cornerstone ............................................................ arr. David Clydesdale

Jesus is the Cornerstone, came for sinners to atone;Though rejected by his own, he became the Cornerstone. When I am by sin oppressed, on the Stone I am at rest,And where the seeds of truth are sown,He remains the Cornerstone, Jesus is the Cornerstone.

Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee.Rock of Ages, so secure, for all time it will endure,Till his children reach their home, he remains the Cornerstone.Till the breaking of the dawn, till all footsteps cease to roam,Ever let this truth be known, Jesus is the Cornerstone!
