bull EKU Aviation abides by the rules set out by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) a Division of Homeland Security which governs aviation training of foreign nationals

bull In order to begin flight training at EKU you will need to register with TSA and be entered into the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) using the following instructions

bull Once the application and registration process is complete you will receive paperwork to apply for an F-1 visa

Aviation International Student Application Process

STEP 1 Apply to EKU admissions

bull Submit an application for the appropriate term (your desired major must be indicated)

bull Provide payment of processing fee $3500 USD bull Provide original copies of secondary school records (no copies or scanned documents will be accepted)

bull If the student has attended a University in the US request that transcripts from that university be sent directly to EKU Transcripts cannot be submitted by students

bull If the student has studied at a University outside of the US have the transcripts sent to one of two evaluation firms in partnership with EKU (WES) World Education Services or Josef Silny amp Associates

STEP 1 (Continued) Apply to EKU admissions bull Provide a declaration of finance with a balance of $27500 USD in the form of a bank statement along with a letter of support from the individual to whom the bank account belongs

bull Additionally for the professional flight aviation concentration the bank statement must show an additional $15250 which is equal to one fourth of the total flight fee cost Thus the declaration of finance must show a total of $42750

bull Some students have obtained a scholarship from their home country This document will work in place of the bank statement and letter of support

bull Students may submit a TOEFL score of 500 (paper based) 173 (computer based) or 61 (internet based) We also accept the IELTS test as well Students must have a 50 or above in ALL categories of the IELTS test

bull Japanese students may take the EIKEN test with a passing score of Pre-1 as sufficient credit

bull Students can complete the equivalent of college level English 101 and English 102 at an equally accredited institution as EKU with a C or better

bull EKU will also consider ACT or SAT scores with Reading and English sections at the levels of Standard Full Admission

STEP 4 Pay TSA fees

bull Upon receipt of email notification from TSA go back to the TSA website to pay the $130 fee for each course for which you are registering

bull Please monitor your TSA application daily in the event your attention is needed for processing

bull TSA typically takes 2-10 business days to process once a payment has been made

STEP 5 Obtain visa from US Embassy

bull EKU can now issue an I-20 form for your visa bull They will mail this to you along with your enrollment agreement

bull Once you receive this form go to wwwFMJfeecom and pay the $200 fee to SEVIS for your visa application

bull Then set up an appointment with the US Consulate Embassy in your country to receive your F-1 visa

Additional requirements to begin flying include

bull Math placement test certified to take Math 107 college algebra or higher

bull Obtain and provide copy of FAA 1st class student pilot medical (To find an FAA Medical Examiner go to wwwfaagov or wwwflightphysicalcom)

bull Obtain and provide copy of Birth Certificate bull Obtain and provide passport

Aviation International Student Application Process

STEP 6 Arrive at EKU and have fingerprints taken bull You will arrive at EKU with your visa in time for new student orientation

bull EKU will deliver official email to EKUrsquos Police department regarding the TSA requirements for finger prints

bull The student will be required to go to the campus police department to be finger printed

bull After the finger prints have been taken they will be mailed to TSA Washington DC by the EKU Campus police

bull The international student will receive notification of approval or disapproval by TSA in Washington
