Eastern Michigan Arabian Association July 9, 2014 . A regular meeting of the East-ern Michigan Arabian Association Board of Directors was called to order at 7:15p.m., President P. Murley presiding. Present: Pat Cole, Danielle Hawes, Lora Hicks-Thorsby, P. Murley, Pam Sabourin, L. Tuinstra, Kim Winger, L. Zaron. Excused: C. Barron, K. Beaubien
Approval of Minutes:. June 2014 minutes where tabled till next month per L. Tuinstra.
Treasurers Report: P. Sabourin reported that the balance is $41,108.49 in account as of 7/9/14. No NSF checks! P. Sabourin has been in contact with Vic the software pro-gram developer regarding accounting reports.
Committee Reports
Office Manager: No report. K. Winger reported that the following number are signed up for Versatility 17 & under has 4, 18 & over has 6. Weekend High Point May show had 16, June show had 10. 2.
Dressage: Kim Winger reported that the June show had 145 Arabian and 26 Open rides. H/A Sport Horse In Hand entries are up. May show had 11 signed up for high score and June had 10. Open Breed had two for May and 3 for June signed. Up.
Judges: P. Sabourin reported C. Barron has patterns for July show from judge.
Points: K. Winger reported the following: Versatility has 4 in 17 & under, 6 in 18 & over. Weekend High Point had 16 signed up in May and 10 signed up in June. Pro-posal for counting points, tabled till August meeting.
Youth Representative: L. Tuinstra reported on the following: Youth Activity May win-ners were: Champion: Spirit-of-ninety-five and WH Hi C with Neva, Austin, and Sami; Reserve Champion: WH Hi C with Cacey Hirleman with total participation of six. Show Teams winner for May: Ambiance with a total of 3 teams, June: 4 teams still calculating points. Pizza Party at June show went through 11 pizzas and drinks. July show youth activity Crepe paper race, telephone book race, and saltine/carrot race.
Suggestion Box: P. Cole reported one signed request was received and discussed.
Gymkhana & Trail: 25 total rides and 3 open breed rides.
2014 Banquet: November 8, 1014 at Holiday Inn. Theme is EMAA’S Glam and Glitz Masquerade Banquet. Discussed expiring trophies. Award amounts as of now are $50.00.
It was moved by P. Cole and supported by P. Sabourin to increase the raffle buckets from four to six with $50.00 spent on each bucket. Ayes: All. Nays: None. MOTION CARRIED
What’s going on? D. Hawes reported on certain deadly algae’s. Boosting Potomac and West Nile shots. MSU suggests working horses over poles to increase joint mobility.
Old Business: none
New Business: It was moved by P. Murley, supported by L. Zaron to renew the Internet Domain for three years at a cost of $53.97. Ayes: All. Nays: None. MOTION CARRIED
Shiawassee Fairgrounds building new dog barn may be big enough for horse shows.
Adjournment
It was moved by D. Hawes supported by P. Cole that the meeting be ad-journed. Ayes: All. Nays: None. MOTION CARRIED. The meeting was ad-journed at 9:24 pm. The next regular meeting of the Board will be August 13, 2014 at J. Porters in the Holiday Inn in Flint off of US23 and Hill Road.

Eastern Michigan Arabian Association August 13, 2014. A regular meeting of the Eastern Michigan Arabian Associa-tion Board of Directors was called to order at 7:20p.m., President P. Murley presiding. Present: Pat Cole, Lora Hicks-Thorsby, Patricia Murley, Pam Sabourin, Kim Winger, Larissa Zaron. Excused: Danielle Hawes, Lisa Tuinstra. Guest: C. Barron, Approval of Minutes: It was moved by K. Winger, supported by P. Cole that the minutes of the regular meeting of July 9, 2014 is approved with amendments. Ayes: All. Nays: None. MOTION CARRIED Treasurers Report: P. Sabourin reported that the balance as of 8/13/14 is $46,660.63 in account. No bills due at this time. Committee Reports Office Manager: C. Barron reported that she is still working on reports needed. Dressage: Kim Winger reported that the third show had 136 Arabian dressage rides, and 42 open breed rides. In hand classes, H/A 5, Purebred 7, and Open 7. Judges: K.Winger needs to purchase a new tent for dressage ring, $75.00. Last judge Bonnie Hazen. Points: Went through and verified the first three shows judges cards with print out. A lengthy discussion accrued re-garding the way to count the points and what the computer could do. No decision was voted on. Gymkhana and Trail: No report. Youth Representative: L. Tuinstra sent a report in; she received only names no point sheets for the Sommer Time’s youth team. Fun classes for the last show will be two dog classes, a horse costume class, and painted pony and is ask-ing for a budget of $75.00. It was moved by P. Murley, supported by K. Winger to reimburse L. Tuinstra up to $75.00 for youth events at last show. Ayes: All. Nays: None. MOTION CARRIED Suggestion Box: No report. 2014 Banquet: This year’s banquet is at Holiday Inn in Flint Township off of Hill Road. Theme: Bling/Masquerade. Tickets will be available at last show. P. Murley passed out a handout on expiring trophies. Pending review on follow-ing trophies: Kim repair of broken ears on mare and gelding. Lora lighten up Tina’s trophy decided against since it is expiring this year. Lisa status on new proposed trophy? Kim current winner of gelding trophy points corrected? No tro-phies will expire this year since the membership was not informed of expiring trophies. Going-on: No report. Old Business: No report New Business: Board Elections Adjournment: It was moved by P. Cole supported by L. Zaron that the meeting be adjourned. Ayes: All. Nays: None. MOTION CARRIED.
