    JPSU NATIONAL

    National Posted In Strength: As of July/Aug 2013, 1300 personnel posted-in

    injured and ill personnel nationally.; this Strength is spread over eight Regions

    across Canada, each Region is based on a CAF "Company" model.

    JPSU EASTERN ONTARIO REGION

    Eastern Ontario Region: 488 Posted In (Injured/Ill)

    Staff: 37

    JPSU Eastern Ontario Region Total: 525 personnel (Note. this is about the size of a

    Battalion)

    Company Structure: A Typical "Company" Building Size: 5000 Sq./m

    JPSU Company Structure: JPSU Eastern Ontario Region: 35,296 Sq./Km

    Time: (For a typical Officer Commanding to visit their Company): 1.5 hours.

    Time: (For a JPSU Officer Commanding to visit their Company): Three-Days.

    Eastern Ontario Regional Headquarters Staff

    Staff: Qty 5 (2 Leadership and 3 clerical)

    - Officer Commanding (Rank: Major): Qty 1 (part-time LCol Chute)

    - Regional Sergeant Major (Rank: MWO): Qty 1

    - Adjutant (Rank: Capt): Qty 1 (currently staffed by a temp)

    - Chief Clerk (Rank: WO): Qty 1

    - Receptionist (Rank: MCpl): Qty 1

    Traditional Company Strength: Approx.100-130 people.

    Situation: The Region is approximately 400 persons overborne.

    Conclusion: With over 500 souls to support, the Region should be staffed and

    structured as a large Battalion, not as a (very) small Company.

    SUPPORT PLATOONS

    GARRISON PETAWAWA

    Petawawa Support Platoon Posted-In Strength: 176 Posted/Due In (Expected to

    reach 200 in 2013)

    Platoon Staff Strength: Qty 10

    - Platoon Commander (Captain): Qty 1

    - Platoon Warrant Officer (Warrant Officer): Qty 2- Section Commanders (Sergeants): Qty 7

    Traditional Platoon Strength: Approx. 30 Personnel.

    Situation: This Platoon is approximately 140 persons overborne.

    Conclusion: The ratio in Petawawa Support Platoon is 25 personnel per Section

    Commander (plus a satellite platoon to take care of in CFB North Bay).

    Each Section is roughly Platoon size strength. This means the Support Platoon in

    Petawawa should be considered a SupportCompanyand staffed appropriately.

    CFSU OTTAWA

    Ottawa Support Platoon Posted-In Strength: 182 Posted In

    Platoon Staff Strength: Qty 6

    - Platoon Commander (Captain): Qty 1

    - Platoon Warrant Officer(Warrant Officer): Qty 1- Section Commanders (Sergeants): Qty 4

    Traditional Platoon Strength: Approx. 30 Personnel.

    Situation: This Platoon approximately 152 overborne.

    Conclusion: The ratio in Ottawa Support Platoon: 46 personnel per Section

    Commander. Each Section is roughly a Platoon and one-half size strength. This

    means the Support Platoon in Petawawa should be considered a

    SupportCompanyand staffed appropriately.

    CFB KINGSTON

    Kingston Support Platoon Posted-In Strength: 82 Posted In

    Platoon Staff Strength: 1

    - Platoon Commander (Captain): Qty 1

    - Platoon Warrant (Warrant Officer): Qty 0

    - Section Commander (Sergeant): Qty 0

    Traditional Platoon Strength: Approx. 30 Personnel.

    Situation: This Platoon is approximately 60 persons overborne.

    Conclusion: The ratio in Kingston Support Platoon: 82:1 (Platoon Commander) at a

    ratio of 82 injured to one Section/Platoon Commander, the Support Platoon in

    Kingston is unworkable.

    CFB TRENTON

    Trenton Support Platoon Posted-In Strength: 52 Posted In

    Platoon Staff Strength: 2

    - Platoon Commander (Captain): Qty 1

    - Platoon Warrant (Warrant Officer): Qty 0

    - Section Commander: Qty 1

    Traditional Platoon Strength: Approx. 30 Personnel.

    Situation: This Platoon is approximately 22 persons overborne.

    Conclusion: Ratio in Ottawa Support Platoon: 52:1 Section Commander, this makes

    Trenton Support and the (very) top end for a Platoon and requires more staff to befunctional.
