1. Help students learn more about the need for increased physical activity for improvements in their course outcomes.
2. Increase strength and regular activity among participants.
3. Host fitness competition to showcase participant’s changes in physical activity.
• Implemented as a partnership between students of the Health Sciences department, Physical Education department and Fine Arts department
• Students will give check-ups before and after physical activity, consisting of push-ups, jumping jacks and gym floor laps, three times a week to collect baseline information from other students in order to learn more about health.
• This physical activity concept was developed from the desires of faculty and students to implement more active learning in the classroom.
1. Student schedules hindered consistent outreach efforts.
2. Collaboration with existing fitness programs was well received and generated positive results.
3. Programs such as this should coincide with sports teams.
4. Community outreach should be present.
1. Student focused programming is an effective leadership development initiative.
2. Program replication needs to occur in Spanish and English.
3. Diseases and health conditions impacted by obesity should be mentioned.
4. The use of community partners will emphasize need for active living.
