FINAL REPORT Sheet ROMANIA 2008 European Studies E6 eCall Deployment Study MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS Description of the situation before the project implementation : Full National development of E112 services (in Romania) and several initiatives in research projects for eCall terminal development. Traffic Police have information regarding all the accidents and incidents on the motorways and national roads and also inside cities. The information is gathered in a Traffic Info Centre and is presented to the public in news bulletins on local radio stations and TV stations. The Centre for Emergency Situations informs and assets situations like fire, floods, explosions, chemical incidents or pollution. They inform the public using mass media: radio and TV stations. In Romania there is no centralized information regarding the traffic and roads infrastructure status. Different information exists at different Infrastructure Administrators or Authorities, but there is no system gathering all the relevant information from one area and presenting it to the public. Description of the solution implemented: OBJECTIVE A global objective is the establishment of the eCall system on 4th corridor with full interoperability function between ITHACA Euro-Region and other Euro- Regions, once all the common standards have been defined. The specific objective of the study is to define for the Ministry of Comunications and Information of Society the deployment procedure. The study is divided in four stages: 1) Study on the state of development of eCall systems. 1

E6 eCall Deployment Study

Main Achievements

Description of the situation before the project implementation:

Full National development of E112 services (in Romania) and several initiatives in research projects for eCall terminal development.Traffic Police have information regarding all the accidents and incidents on the motorways and national roads and also inside cities.

Different information exists at different Infrastructure Administrators or Authorities, but there is no system gathering all the relevant information from one area and presenting it to the public.Description of the solution implemented:OBJECTIVE

A global objective is the establishment of the eCall system on 4th corridor with full interoperability function between ITHACA Euro-Region and other Euro-Regions, once all the common standards have been defined. The specific objective of the study is to define for the Ministry of Comunications and Information of Society the deployment procedure. The study is divided in four stages:1) Study on the state of development of eCall systems.

2) Study on the development of national infrastructure for the implementation of eCall technologies.

3) Development of the architecture of the single number emergency system. Opportunities and impediments in implementing eCall technologies.

4) Implementation methodology of eCall services in Romania. Performance evaluation of eCall systems.

The first stage has been conducted in 2008 including:

A. Elaboration of the study on emergency systems in Europe and across the world

B. Study on current eCall technologies
