These students spent 10 days at Somers Camp with over 150 other students from around the state. From all accounts, it was an amazing experience that they all thoroughly enjoyed. This Thursday and Friday, our Grade 5 and 6 students are heading off to Sovereign Hill Camp. Whilst on camp, students will have the opportunity to take part in all acvies at Sovereign Hill including gold panning, mine tours, lolly making demonstraons, candle making and much more. The Sovereign Hill experience links very closely to the current learning around History in the Grade 5/6 curriculum. Students will complete a wide variety of acvies linked to their learning and experiences upon their return to school. We wish them all a great experience over their 2 days. We are currently sourcing some tyres for our tyre area in the yard. Our current ones are well used and are in need of replacement. They learnt about responsibility by making their beds and tidying their huts each morning and being table hosts at meal times. At night time, they went on a bush walk and visited a nocturnal enclosure. They had a disco, a bush dance, a concert where they had to perform and a games night. They met lots of new friends from 33 other schools. Some of them met old friends. They all recommend that if anyone has the opportunity, they should definitely try to go. Respect Responsibility Safety

Welcome back Mrs Ross, who has enjoyed some time travelling in Europe and then the last 2 weeks as Acting Principal at Trawalla Primary School. It is nice to have her back at school.

We also welcome back Ellie, Taliah, Harmony, Jet, Noah, Hudson and Tyson from Somers Camp. These students spent 10 days at Somers Camp with over 150 other students from around the state. From all accounts, it was an amazing experience that they all thoroughly enjoyed.

This Thursday and Friday, our Grade 5 and 6 students are heading off to Sovereign Hill Camp. Whilst on camp, students will have the opportunity to take part in all activities at Sovereign Hill including gold panning, mine tours, lolly making demonstrations, candle making and much more. The Sovereign Hill experience links very closely to the current learning around History in the Grade 5/6 curriculum. Students will complete a wide variety of activities linked to their learning and experiences upon their return to school. We wish them all a great experience over their 2 days.

We are currently sourcing some tyres for our tyre area in the yard. Our current ones are well used and are in need of replacement. If you know of anyone who might have any they would be willing to donate, please let me know. The students, and I, would be very grateful for all donations.

This Friday is Jeans for Genes day. Students are invited to wear denim, double denim or triple denim, if they dare. On the day, the Junior School Council will be collecting all gold coin donations and forwarding all money raised to the Jeans for Genes Foundation.

Has your family started designing a race track yet?

Just a reminder that we are running a family design competition.

The winning tracks will be dug out and concreted into place, allowing for an interactive place for our students to play.

Designs need to fit into a 1.2m x 1.5m rectangle, must be able to be made out of concrete and safe for all students to use. Tunnels made from car tyres, pipes etc. can be included in the designs.

Entry templates can be collected from the office and must be returned for consideration by Friday 10th August.

From The Canteen The canteen have requested that

All lunch orders are written on paper bags, and not written on envelopes or plastic bags.

That correct money is included in all orders, as change is not given.

Each order has its own money. Please do not put collective family orders in one order.

A new lunch order list was included in the first newsletter for this term. If you require one, please ask at the office.

Mathematicians in Prep

Teen numbers can be tricky

Especially eleven and twelve

Really! Who named these numbers?

Rather than worry we have been practising

Inspecting each number

Finding number patterns

Improving a little each day and

Counting, counting and more counting.

‘Ten and some more’ Miss Hallett says

Everyone now knows our teen number song

Even the classroom next door

Not long until we can count to 1 000

Super soon I’m sure

What’s going on in 3/4P

It has been a busy start to Term 3 in 3/4P. There has been the introduction of our 3 minute

mental maths three times a week and our 5 minute morning questions twice a week. We are im-

proving every day! We are also loving working in our Writer’s Notebooks, which we started over

the school holidays.

Tristian

“I love Working in my Writer’s Notebook because I get to make ideas for my stories.”

Stephanie

“I love our Writer’s Notebook because we get to draw tiny pictures and use words to describe

the picture then make a story using this stuff.”

Emilie

“I love my Writer’s Notebook because we can produce stories from the ideas we make up.”

Tucker

“I love my Writer’s Notebook, because it’s a place I can store my imagina-

tion and ideas for stories like my character Rapidwater the Dragon.”
