EBOLA GRANT WORK PLAN
Overview• Region received: $258,238• Project Period: May 18, 2015-May 17, 2020• MN will call this EBP for Ebola Budget Period• Requirements: Involvement with EMS, Hospitals. Annual
exercise on Ebola or any infectious disease if approved
Work Plan (PPE)• Conduct an assessment at the healthcare coalition level
to determine PPE needs of frontline hospitals (Due 2/28/16)
• Develop a system to acquire, rapidly share and transport, monitor and redistribute PPE supplies within the coalition, as indicated by the results of the assessment (Due 7/31/16)
• Incorporate the PPE system into coalition all-hazards planning, inclusive of messaging and visibility of PPE to coalition members (Due 5/17/20)
Work Plan (Training)• Develop training and exercise plans that are integrated
into annual MYTEPs, including isolating and assessing EVD and other infectious disease patients, and inclusive of EMS partners. (Due 5/17/16-20)
Training Continued • Ensure PPE training, including, but not limited to:
demonstrated competency of PPE don/doff procedures, environmental cleaning and disinfection, and appropriate management of infectious waste. This training must be inclusive of EMS partners and be in coordination with regional HAI Coordinators. Training may provide general infection control training and consultation, based on CDC resources, to frontline and non-acute care settings to assist in mitigation of IC gaps identified through assessments. (Due 5/17/20)
Training Continued• Ensure proficiency training is conducted to ensure
competency within their health care workforce to be able to identify, assess, and treat suspected or confirmed patients with Ebola or other diseases based on tier. (5/17/20)
Exercise• Conduct annual coalition level exrecises with, at a
minimum, frontline facilities, assessment and treatment centers (if member of coalition), and EMS. (5/17/16-20)
Planning• In partnership with EMS, develop a medical waste
protocol for waste generated through the care of Ebola patients
• Actively participate in State HAI program activities as requested by MDH
• Collaborate with MDH IDECP staff regarding regional infection prevention planning as requested by MDH
Regional Strategies• Education and Tabletop Exercise May 25-26 on Ebola.
This will either be Ebola Year 1 or 2 exercise, pending ASPR approval
• We are planning that this exercise will be the main one moving forward
• Various committees will be tasked to complete assessments and planning needs
