In those eight games, opposing teams are 0-for-20 on power play chances. marShall’S naTional rankingSLisa Marshall ’14 has been phenomenal in net this season as she ranks in the top 10 in the country in all four major statistical catego-ries. She is third in save percentage (.951), fourth in goals allowed average (1.24), tied for fourth in shutouts (4), and eighth in win percentage (.781).

onE of Two in ncaa DiiiThe Elmira women have been solid all season on both sides of the puck. Elmira is one of two teams to be ranked in the top five in the nation in both scoring offense and scoring defense. The other team in the top five in both categories is No. 1 Plattsburgh State.

roaD warriorSEC will play the final road games of the regular season this weekend against Cortland State. Following Saturday’s game, Elmira will have played in 14 true away games and 16 total away from home. Once the season is complete, Elmira will play in a total of nine home games, which if EC does not host a post-season game, will be the least amount of home contests in program history.

all-TimE vS. corTlanD STaTEElmira owns a decisive advantage in the all-time series against the Red Dragons of Cortland State, winning all 26 meetings between the two institutions. Cortland is one of five institutions that Elmira has faced at least 10 times and has not suffered a defeat.

laST TimE ouTLast year, Cortland and Elmira met twice early in the season. The Soaring Eagles picked up a pair of shutout wins against the Red Dragons, outscoring Cortland 9-0 in the two games.

TiTlE DEfEnSEThis is the third time in just 12 years of EC women’s ice hockey that the Purple and Gold will begin a season as the defending national champions. Despite losing some key pieces from last year’s team, the 2013-14 edition of EC women’s ice hockey has returned six of its top 10 scorers and is ready to bring another title back home.

The Soaring Eagles successfully defended their first national cham-pionship, winning back-to-back titles in 2001-02 and 2002-03. EC became the first program to win NCAA Championships in each of their first two years of existence.
