What are volatile organic compounds? VOCs are compounds that give off that fresh paint smell. The odour is caused by VOCs emitted as gasses into the air, which can be irritating to the eyes, nose and throat and possibly in other ways. VOCs impact on indoor air quality. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors, up to as much as ten times higher than outdoors where the air can circulate freely.

What is Zero VOC?

Architectural coatings and paints containing VOCs with less than 5 grams per litre are considered Zero VOC. VOC absorbing paints contain active ingredients that trap VOCs in the paints indefinitely. Natural paints are manufactured from raw natural products such as plant oils, natural minerals, water and essential oils. ISO 17896 is one of a series of standards dealing with the VOC content of paints, varnishes and related products. ISO 11890-1 specifies a method for determining VOC contents greater than 15% (by mass), while ISO 11890-2 is applicable to VOC contents between 0.1% and 15% (by mass).

These water based, solvent free, products contain specially developed polymers and additives that ensure their inertness and ecologically friendly nature. Terraco EcoLife products surpass the most stringent international and national regulations pertaining to interior decoration products.
