Microsoft Outlook is a software generally used for email-
ing but this software also comes with a Calendar, Task
manager, Contact manager, Note taking a journal and also
web browsing.

Different Document Types
Short Documents
A Memo is a very short type of document that is a
form of email that is just on paper . The advantage of using a Memo is,
it can be the only option when you have no internet access but then
again it also has a disadvantages. The disadvantages are that it’s slow-
er than internet email because it could be sent through the post which
could take up to several days! Unlike memo’s, on email you can attach
and send files, with memos you cannot because its just impossible to
attach a computer file to a memo.
MEMO
A letter’s purpose could be for many reasons, but
its main purpose is a piece of writing that could be addressed to a
certain person that could be to inform about how they are doing, or
a complaint Etc. Writing a letter could have many advantages but its
main advantage is it could be sent through first class; which is who
ever it is sent to, can receive it in one day! An example of a letter
could be writing to someone in another country to see how they are
doing.

An agenda is specifically designed for meetings on what is needed to
be discussed, it is basically a plan of your schedule/timetable that will
help you stay on top of things and become more organised. Some-
times you might need to reschedule the Agenda , due to the
availability or maybe a problem.
AGENDA
Minutes is a legal requirement of a rec-
ord from a meeting, not everything could be noted down in the meet-
ing due to lots of discussions that have been discussed. You know this
meeting has definitely happened because you could refer back to the
notes that were made on the topic of the discussion.

An Order form is a paper copy of what you have purchased with most
details on there E.g. To where it is being delivered to or how much
the product costs. The dis-advantage is it could be miss-placed an
get lost. An order form comes in hand when you are receiving your
product and an order has messed up, the order form is there for
proof that you have purchased that particular item.

Leaflets could be made for several reasons , to entertain, get a mes-
sage across or to state an opinion. They illustrate key points but also
could be really bias. A great example of a leaflet could be a leaflet
based on a theme park, including a map of the park and where every
thrill ride is located.

Microsoft Publisher is a more professional way of produc-
ing a stylish document that could be in a variety of Docu-
ment types from brochures to newsletters.

Leaflets could be made for several reasons , to entertain, get a mes-
sage across or to state an opinion. They illustrate key points but also
could be really bias. A great example of a leaflet could be a leaflet
based on a theme park, including a map of the park and where every

Most webpages main reason is to make things accessible at home
through your own computer. A really big advantage of a webpage is
Internet shopping which is very popular, and has made a very big im-
pact on using the internet. There are so many people online shopping
but a disadvantage is if you purchase something online you might not
be able to return what you purchased.

A invoice is a bill that is sent to a certain person with a list of what
goods need providing with the costs. The advantage of receiving an
invoice is it gives you an idea of what to pay first or which cost is most
important which you could pay off first. The dis-advantage of this is
you could receive the wrong bill or it could get lost in the post.

A detailed piece of writing about a small topic E.g. A article that is ad-
vertising a new computer software. Articles are generally meant to
be easy to read but sometimes articles could be less detailed as they
should or harder to understand.
ARTICLE
A newsletter is a piece of writing that is to inform the reader about a
particular topic that gives relevant information. The disadvantages are
the newsletter might not include the information you are looking for.

A report is an essay type of writing that could be opinionated, that
could be about anything. Reports can be very bias E.g. A report criticiz-
ing schools and why they have uniform Etc.
REPORT
A user guide is produced to provide information or give instructions
on a subject that the users guide is based on. User guides are
supposed to be very clear and easy to understand. Here is an example
of a user guide; You buy a new phone and you don’t know how to get
onto the settings, so you would read through the user guide which
should direct you onto the user

Illustrations are to make a piece of writ-
ing more easier to understand or if your more of a picture person
more interesting. Illustrations can be very distracting from the more
important text that you are reading that’s why some books tend to
have very little amounts of illustra-

Charts are used mostly when you have a spread sheet of a
questionnaire that you have sent out with all the data on it. From
there you would be able to make charts to make the responses much
easier to read.
CHARTS
Diagrams are commonly used for planning out essays, they can look
messy but are quick easy and helpful on remembering things. The
advantage of Diagrams is they make planning so much easier.
DIAGRAMS
A new car has just been released, and the company want to advertise
this car. You would see a lot of advertisements of this certain car so a
lot of people see the car. The main objective of this advertisement
would be to attract a lot of people to buy it. Sometimes advertise-
ments can be ignored, but this is really rare.
