Airbus employs over 4,000 people at its base in Filton and continues to invest heavily in thearea with a new aerospace business park that consolidates many of the site's engineering,design, customer support and other employees into one highly efficient office campus. ManyAirbus employees use Bristol Airport to fly to our sites in Toulouse and North Wales and as amajor employer in Bristol and South West Airbus has concems about the level of congestionin the area and the difficulty experienced by its staff in travelling around the area and to theAirport.

Airbus would like to make clear its strong support for the South Bristol Link. As part of a thepackage of major transport schemes which has secured funding from government The SouthBristol Link would help improve the economic prospects of the area and gives a boost tosouth Bristol as well as the wider area. Good access to Bristol airport is vital to us as aglobal business, and indeed many other organisations in the aerospace supply chain. Thechronic congestion in the area would be eased for residents and staff saving time andmoney_ The route is long overdue - a very necessary project to give new life to the area.

Airbus would urge the authority to support the planning application for the South Bristol Link.

i am writing in support of the above planning application. Bristol Airport has supported theWest of England Major Transport Schemes for some years now and I see them as vital tothe future of Bristol Airport and our ability to provide improved international connectivity forthe Bristol city-region.

At Bristol Airport, we are committed to achieving high quality, efficient and reliable access tothe Airport. This contributes greatly to the experience of passengers (business, leisure andinbound tourists) and staff working here. Greater use of public transport also has thepotential to reduce CO2 emissions, as well as leading to less congestion and improved airquality. We have a commitment, through the Bristol Airport Surface Access Strategy, toreduce the proportion of car journeys to the Airport as passenger numbers grow. Thedelivery of the South Bristol Link is a vital component of this strategy, providing a one-off

opportunity to transform surface access to Bristol Airport and deliver vital improvements tothe West of England transport system.

Although Bristol Airport is not connected directly to the National Rail network we providegood public transport connections to Bristol Temple Meads Station, Bristol city centre andthe Bristol Bus and Coach Station with the Airport Flyer Express. The Flyer operates as a'branch line' of the rail network and we have worked hard with First Great Western to ensurethat the service is fully integrated into the national rail timetable and ticketing system.

Similarly it is linked into the National Express system for passengers making use of theircoach services. The service also provides a much-valued service for staff, visitors to Bristoland local residents.

We have invested much time and considerable money over the past fifteen years to developthe Flyer service in conjunction with the operator, First Somerset and Avon, and the West ofEngland authorities, working through the Bristol Airport Transport Forum. Through thispartnership we have increased passenger numbers by 48% in the past five years, a periodduring which overall air passenger numbers have remained broadly flat. i would besurprised if any other public transport service in this area has achieved growth on this scaleand we were pleased to see our achievements recognised as an example of best practice inthe current West of England Joint Local Transport Plan.

Despite these successes, surface access to Bristol Airport is not as good as we would like. Iam delighted that the three schemes being progressed by the West of England authorities aspart of the Metrobus project have been designed on the basis of a bus-based scheme andtherefore have the potential to overcome many of our current issues and transform publictransport access to the Airport. A tram or rail based scheme would provide no benefit interms of surface access to Bristol Airport.

The most important component of the Metrobus schemes for Bristol Airport is the SouthBristol Link (SBL). This will provide improved access into the city centre in conjunction withthe Ashton Vale to Temple Meads (AVTM) scheme.

At present, the Flyer journey to Bristol via Bedminster is timetabled at up to a third longer inrush hour as a result of congestion in BristoL. On completion of the SBL and AVTM schemesthe Flyer will be rerouted into the city centre via the new bus priority and guided bus waysections of the system, benefitting from improved journey times and reliability. Selectedservices for staff and Bedminster residents would continue to use the current route via theA38.

The SBL and the A VTM will also provide the opportunity to establish an effective interchangewith the Hengrove to Northern Fringe part of the system in the centre of Bristol which will

finally provide realistic public transport connections to the important economic driver of thecity-region to the north of the city. Longer distance coach services, for example to SouthWales via Bristol city centre, will also benefit from improved journey times and will beincreasingly attractive to operators and passengers.

Without the SBL, the Flyer would not be able to access the most important part of the AVTM- the guided bus way section between Ashton Vale and the city centre - and the systemwould deliver little or no benefit for Airport surface access.

The SBL will also be instrumental in the delivery of improved public transport servicesbetween Bristol Airport, South Bristol and Bath. The benefits of improved public transport

access are particularly important for South Bristol, allowing more people from this part of thecity to take up employment opportunities at an expanding Bristol Airport.

The improvements to surface access provided by the SBL will benefit all users of BristolAirport. The scheme will provide a much more direct and easy route to the airport fromSouth Bristol than the current congested Hartcliffe Way and Parson Street gyratory

signposted route or the alternative King's Head Lane/Bishopsworth RoadlWhitchurch Roadroute through residential areas of South BristoL. This could be an important factor in theeconomic regeneration of this part of BristoL.

The SBL will also provide improved access to rest of the Bristol city-region via the A4Portway to the west side of Bristol; via the A4 and the M5 to the Northern Fringe and SouthGloucestershire; and via the A4174 to the east side of Bristol, Keynsham and Bath. This will

make Bristol Airport a much more attractive option than the alternative longer journey to theLondon airports or Birmingham helping to reduce the leakage of passengers to those

airports, estimated to amount to 1.15 million passengers from the West of England in 2012.

Finally, we must also not overlook the important benefits of the SBL for the rural communityin North Somerset. The SBL scheme provides a once in a lifetime opportunity to solve the

traffic problems on the B3130 in Barrow Gurney and on other rural roads between the A38and the A370, ending the 40 year wait for relief from traffic for the residents affected.

For these reasons Bristol Airport has committed to providing a contribution of up to £4.1million to the SBL i look forward to working with the West of England authorities to ensuretheir successful delivery.

Bristol Sport strongly supports the proposals to bring forward the South Bristol Link scheme.

Bristol City Football Club, Ashton Gate Stadium and Bristol City Community Trust are major

employers in the vicinity of the proposed scheme, and together provide employment, supply chain

and community benefits to thousands of local people and small and large businesses alike. As

such, we expect the scheme to make a major contribution to increasing employment opportunities,

investment and other associated infrastructure development locally and more widely across South

BristoL.

Bristol Sport is also planning to make a major multi-million pound investment in new and/orredeveloped stadium facilities, either at Ashton Gate or at Ashton Vale (on land adjacent to theproposed South Bristol Link scheme). The synergy between these major investments in

infrastructure and local sports and community facilities will be considerable, and will act as a major

catalyst for attracting further investment and sustainable growth in the area.

South Bristol is in obvious need of this sort of investment, development and regeneration, which

will provide increased opportunity for local people (particularly young people) and businesses.

Bristol Sport and Ashton Gate Ltd would remain open to making further important investment in

the area in years to come should this scheme go ahead - with out this scheme, it would become

increasingly difficult to identify returns on further development and to justify any future investment,

simply because the transport infrastructure would remain inadequate.

As an employer, a major destination/venue, and a major buyer of local services and products, we

expect the proposed scheme to assist by connecting our business more directly to the City Centre,

North Bristol, Bristol Airport and a range of other instructions, suppliers and business, such as the

Skills Academy, Hengrove Park, Emersons Green and Imperial Park.

The scheme will also make an important contribution to easing congestion on the road

infrastructure around Ashton Gate, on both arterial routes and residential streets. Not only will this

reduce costs and environmental impact for local businesses and employees in the local area, it will

also make it more attractive for new businesses and families to move to an area with fewer traffic

movements on local roads. This is an important consideration in light of Bristol Sports proposals to

invest in new and bigger stadium facilities in the area.

Bristol Sport welcomes the proposal to add this vital, much-needed 4.5km section of modern and

fit-for-purpose road, Metrobus, cycleway and pedestrian infrastructure to the city and surrounding

region, and urges both Bristol City Council and North Somerset Council planning authorities to

approve the application. It is vital for the future success, prosperity and sustainability of Bristol and

the surrounding region that this scheme progresses.

I am writing on behalf of the Businesses of Cater Business Park and for many otherbusinesses situated in the South Bristol area to fully endorse our support for the SouthBristol Link Scheme.

We believe that the South Bristol Link is most desperately needed and essential to improvethe accessibility to and from the area for our Commercial and Heavy Goods Vehicles.

The new road combined with a public transport service and good cycle and pedestrianfacilities will also improve accessibility to the area for our employees and the residents ofSouth BristoL.

The exciting regeneration of South Bristol is well underway with increasing occupancy at'The Junction' (Imperial Park) and the new construction of The South Bristol Community

Hospital, The Skills Academy, Hengrove Leisure Centre and the Bottle Yard at Hengrove.

However, these new developments will only add to the high level of traffic congestion in ourarea and confirms the necessity and urgency of the building of the South Bristol LinkScheme.

I'm writing to you as Chief Executive Officer for Computershare Investor Services PLC, south Bristol'slargest private employer.

Computershare employs more than 12,000 people worldwide. Our UK headquarters is on BedminsterDown, where we have around 1,200 staff.

In April this year we were proud to announce the completion of a £13million renovation of ourinnovative Pavilions building. We were pleased to receive George Ferguson, the Mayor of Bristol, asGuest of Honour at a reception celebrating our investment.

I am not aware of any comparable level of new private investment coming into south Bristol.

Our development here is not complete. We are actively seeking businesses who might wish tobecome tenants in our building who will in turn create more jobs in south BristoL.

Transport links make an important part of that pitch. Equally, transport forms a part of our ability toattract and retain the best talent for our own business.

In total, we want to be in a situation where good transport links are a "pull" factor to Computershareand for our current and prospective tenants too.

I firmly believe transport issues are at the very core of south Bristol's struggle to win moreinvestments like curs.

SBl: faster, cheaper, greener

We must pay £75,000 each year to provide a "free" bus service to staff because the city's busservices are seen as unreliable, inconvenient and expensive. A bus journey from the city centre cancost as much as £11 for a return.

The roads around our offices are commonly clogged, particularly during peak hours when it can takeup to half an hour to drive a few hundred metres. This is a more serious matter than simpleinconvenience. It makes work life less predictable and wastes time - neither of which are paths tobusiness confidence.

About 600 of our staff - half the total - live in the postcodes surrounding the proposed South BristolLink. Improved access to reliable public transport and cycle lane links would make their lives easierand - we hope - healthier.

A properly managed South Bristol Link would free the roads of much commuter traffici reduce C02emissionsi improve the local environment and - I have seen suggested - improve the job prospects

of thousands in south Bnstol; all factors towards making our business more efficienti confident andpredictable.

Finallyi but by no means leasti please allow me to mention our residential neighbours.

We engage with our residential neighbours as often and positively as we cani but there remainssome resentment at our staff parking on nearby streets and our traffic adding to the rush hour jams.

Anything which can be done to alleviate this problem for their benefit would be very warmlyreæived.

For these reasons and more I urge you to look favourably on the South Bnstol Link proposalsi andadd Computershare Investor Services PLC to the list of its public supporters.
