NATURAL RESOURCES & GEOGRAPHY
Uzbekistan is a doubly landlockedcountry (has no direct links toocean). The total area of Uzbekistanis 447,000 square km. 80% ofUzbekistan is desert topography.
Uzbekistan is the worlds seventh-largest gold producer, mining about80 tons per year. Gold and cottonmake up 20% of total exports.

Uzbekistan has a mid-level infrastructure.
In 2008, 98% of urban and 81% of rural population had accessto clean water.

According to the OECD, Uzbeks have a lowermiddle income.
As of 2007, Uzbeks had an unemployment rateof 0.8%.

THE ENVIRONMENT
Despite Uzbekistans rich and varied natural environment,some factors such as the heavy use of agrochemicals andchronic lack of water treatment plants have caused health andenvironmental problems.
As of 2007, Uzbekistan had 4.3 metric tons per capita CO2emission.
Because of diversion of the rivers Amu Darya and Syr Daryafor cotton cultivation and other purposes, Aral Sea shrunk andlost 2/3 of its size as of 1960s.

PREDICTION
According to the trade surplus and not very highinflation rate, a long term economic growth is expectedin Uzbekistan.
However, some environmental issues and unfairdistribution of wealth among people will slow down thegrowth of economy.
