BY 2020This is the objective enshrined in the
which had to be transposed into national law by 2014. It sets a binding target of a 1.5% annual reduction in energy sales, excluding transmission, requires the renovation of 3% of government-owned buildings per year and a strategy for existing building stock beyond 2020, as well as providing for energy audits to be performed systematically in large companies. France presented its action plan in April 2014. It aims to renovate 500,000 homes per year until 2017 and make over 9 million tonnes of oil equivalent savings in 2020 thanks to energy savings

TWO INNOVATIVE SYSTEMSEiffage has asked EDF Optimal Solutions to deliver a heating and cooling system
Euroméditerranée 2 neighbourhood, using a warm water system – 2.6 MW hot and 3.3 MW cold – that will use the Port of Marseille as its source. The seawater loop will heat or cool as appropriate to each season. This innovative system will reduce energy costs by 30%.In addition, EDF SEI island energy systems, in partnership with Ademe, has been studying a Seawater Air Conditioning (SWAC) project in Reunion Island. By pumping cool seawater from the depths of the ocean, the teaching hospital in Saint-Pierre could save more than 75% of the electricity it uses for air conditioning, which is the hospital’s biggest energy item. The project could be launched in 2015.
Several initiatives have been implemented at French departmental and regional level.

FOR RATPRATP, which operates 4,500 buses in the Île-de-France region, aims to have a 100% green bus network by 2025, using electric and natural-gas buses. With a view to
high-capacity buses, the transport authority has signed a three-year partnership with EDF. The agreement covers testing electric driveline systems, batteries, charging systems and their impact on power grids. The economic aspect will also be studied and special attention will be paid to passenger satisfaction.
