To Whom It May Concern:

I am a board-certified neurointensivist at a level-one trauma center at a community hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Ideally, I am interested in a well-rounded, neurocritical care position with neurotrauma and neurovascular pathology, where there is neurosurgical, neurointerventional and neurology/stroke service available. I have included my curriculum vitae for your review and consideration.

My residency, fellowship, and current practice have afforded me an exposure to an extensive range of pathologies, clinical practices, and procedures. I am competent performing ventriculostomies, intubations, inserting central lines, inserting arterial lines, and reading EEG’s. I also have proven leadership and communication skills. For example, I inform the primary team of significant neurological assessments, changes or follow-up needs. I talk to families regarding their loved ones’ condition and goals of care. During multi-disciplinary rounds, I enjoy engaging and teaching the therapists, dieticians, medical students and physician assistants. At stroke committee meetings, we discuss areas of improvement with radiologists, emergency physicians, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, nurses, nurse educators, and the stroke coordinator. Delegating responsibility to our physician assistants is an important part of our daily routine, as we triage emergencies and stroke alerts. No matter what the situation, I find the human interaction and team approach very satisfying.

Having been fortunate enough to work with a variety of patients and practitioners, my performance has been rated very highly. In addition, my colleagues endorse my hard-working nature and ability to deliver care in a compassionate, competent, and efficient manner. This attests to my ability to balance quality of patient care with a high quantity of patients.

By bringing together my established compassionate, comprehensive care with competent procedural and proven leadership skills, along with my teamwork and mentoring experience, I believe that I am particularly well qualified for your neurocritical care position. If you are interested in a neurointensivist who provides patient care with compassion, strong work ethic, and camaraderie, I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to explore how I may be of value to your team. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Margarita, 01/12/15,
This paragraph is mainly stating facts – you could consider including what you enjoy about these activities as well; this will let your personality shine through even more
Margarita, 01/12/15,
You could also consider including what you believe it is about your personality that would make you a good addition to their team – you touched on this in the previous paragraph, but there was no addition information. Basically, I am looking for the answer to “SO WHAT?”
