Edney Edition Term 4 Week 4 1 November 2018 The Edney Way - Respect and Excellence If you thought of the best school fair that you could possibly imagine and then multiplied that by 100, you would come somewhere near to the incredible display of our school spirit, community, ingenuity and sheer magic that went in to making Edneys Magical Kingdom Fair an enormous success in every sense of the word. I am very proud to have shared the day with all of you, and particularly each student, parent and staff member who volunteered their time to make the day one to remember. I have experienced a few school fetes / fairs in my time, and this is without doubt the best that I have ever seen. The professionalism of the Fair Committee and P&C in organising this event is breathtaking, and, as well as bringing in a generous amount of funds for your children and our school, the Fair was most important in building community, and showcasing our students and school. Bravo, Edney. Have Your Say Edney Primary School is conducting the National School Opinion Survey and I invite all parents, staff and Year 4-6 students to have your voices heard. Staff and students will complete the survey in school, while parents and carers are invited to complete the survey online at https://www.schoolsurvey.edu.au/ s/EdneyParents18 As a bonus, if you have a sweet tooth, members of the School Board are located around the school with iPads just prior to school closing. Take an iPad, complete the survey and a sweet treat will be all yours. Whether you complete the survey at school, or at home, rest assured that your responses are anonymous, but highly valued. This survey is only conducted once each two years, and it provides valuable feedback that is heard loud and clear, and, where possible, acted upon. In addition to the questions we are required to ask as part of a National agreement on education, we will be asking specific questions to enable the school to better understand, support and develop the health and wellbeing of all in our school community, particularly our students. Surveys have so far delivered: a music program, parking improvements (believe it or not, it was From the Principals Desk worse), curriculum and technology improvements, new programs, improved school communication and much more. If you only complete one survey, please make it this one. The survey closes on Thursday 15 th November. Class Organisation Requests for consideration in class placement for 2019 will close in the next week. Any request for consideration must be made in writing, and detail the educational benefit that you believe such a request would achieve for your child. The school staff will be meeting in the following weeks to place students into classes. From Monday 19 th November, student placements on provisional class lists can be viewed and discussed with the principal by appointment only, in person. To ensure the best possible planning for next year, please continue to inform the school in writing if your child/ren will no longer be attending in 2019. Booklists Student personal items lists (booklists) as well as a schedule of fees and charges for 2019 will be issued to all students on Friday 16 th November. This early notice of fees and charges is to assist you in budgeting and planning for the 2019 school year. Please note that charges such as excursions, Edudance and swimming lessons are set at the maximum possible amount, with charges always lower than stated, and certainly will not exceed the maximum limits. We appreciate greatly the support shown for the school and our programs in the payment of voluntary contributions. We recommend that wherever possible, booklists are filled through our preferred supplier, Nextra Paperplace Forrestfield, as this will ensure that your child has the correct items for the year. Please place your order by returning the list to the school office no later than Friday 6 th December, or, you can order online at your convenience. For orders placed through the office, delivery will be made to the school on Wednesday 30 th January 2019. P&C News

Edney’s Magical Kingdom Fair What an incredible day the Fair was, from the perfect weather to the amazing stalls and family friendly atmosphere. We heard many positive comments about how well run the Fair was. I hope you will all take the opportunity to thank the three Fair coordinators, Valda Taipari, Bonnie Kelly and Shelley Wakeham, who undertook the mammoth task of bringing the fair together. There was a lot of behind the scenes work that occurred over many, many months and frantic activity in the recent weeks and days. Well done ladies, you make us proud to be Edney! The Fair sponsors were also essential to make this day happen and we would like to acknowledge the contributions of the following sponsors: Club HQ; Forrestfield & High Wycombe Bendigo Bank Branches; Friendlies Pharmacy; Stephen Price; Cooling Brothers Glass Company; High Wycombe Pharmacy; Midland Dental; Modern Motor Trimmers; Perth Airport; Perth Property Concierge; Winter Real Estate; Fennell Tyres and Primal Alternative. Also, a big thank you to everyone who volunteered their time preparing for the Fair, manning stalls on the day and packing up. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed nor unappreciated. We hope you were able to enjoy the day too. It is amazing what we can achieve, for the benefit of the children and school.

I am sure everyone is waiting in anticipation for the final amount raised, please be patient, final calculations need to be made (and some catching up on sleep and family time) before this amount can be shared. P&C Meeting The next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday 4th December 2018, in the Staff Room. Light refreshments will be served at 6.45pm for a 7pm meeting start. All are welcome to attend. Meeting minutes are available on the Edney website. https://www.edneyps.wa.edu.au/our-community/pc/ Scholastic Order Scholastic Book Club Issue 7 order has been placed. The books will be taken to classrooms following delivery and book sorting. Your patience is appreciated. Fast Edney’s Canteen News Welcome back slushies! Now that the weather is heating up, slushies are again on offer at the canteen to purchase as a lunch time treat. We hope you don’t get brain freeze. Have you enjoyed the spring rolls from the recess menu yet? Delicious and filling and only a low fifty cents to purchase. Canteen volunteers are required. If you could help out by volunteering or encouraging others to volunteer, the P&C and Mrs Cresswell would be very grateful. Imagine how happy your children would be to see you helping in the canteen.
