South Western SydneyCentre for Education & Workforce Development
Education Calendar2019
Welcome
Welcome to the South Western Sydney Centre for Education and Workforce Development (SWSCEWD) Education Calendar.
As a healthcare provider South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) strives for a workplace culture of high performance. It is committed to the development of the health workforce and is proud of its comprehensive, innovative and strategic approach to the provision of education and training. SWSCEWD is integral to achieving this goal. It provides a suite of education and development opportunities that support individuals in their career pathway and ensure that care delivered is person centred and evidence based.
As part of the Transforming Your Experience strategy within SWSLHD the SWSCEWD are proud to introduce our new online Education Calendar for 2019. The Calendar is an interactive live document which can provide staff with current course schedules and course outlines.
SWSCEWD governance and quality processes require us to consult widely. This ensures that the education needs of SWSLHD staff are met, and that the Transforming Your Experience strategy and CORE values are incorporated into our courses. This is now supported with a robust process to assess and incorporate as appropriate simulation based education. Simulation based education provides a safe learning environment for staff to practice not only clinical skills but also non-clinical workforce skills. To assist in identifying the right course for you this new Education Calendar has mapped all new and revised courses to the following key plans: • SWSLHD Education and Training Strategic Plan• NSW Public Sector Capability Framework • National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards• Transforming Your Experience, Our strategy to transform SWSLHD
Our SWSCEWD website offers a single point of access for education and training initiatives offered across the District as well as links to our partners in education. It is important for you to become familiar with how to access and log on to My Health Learning (MHL). This is not only the portal for enrolling in the face to face courses within the Education Calendar but it is also a point of access to your mandatory training, and a wealth of online courses and resources.
We look forward to working with you as you participate in the education offerings and transform your experience by increasing your knowledge, capabilities and confidence within your workplace.
PLEASE NOTE: In this publication the term “course” is used to represent all units of study including courses, workshops and qualifications.
Rebecca Leon FACNHonorary Fellow, Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health, University of Wollongong Manager | South Western Sydney Centre for Education and Workforce DevelopmentSouth Western Sydney Local Health District
