SUMMER CAMPS/LESSONS Ackermann’s Swim Program (www.aspkirkwood.com) teaches swimming and water safety. Group lessons with different water levels for safe learning. Red Cross certified staff. Non-competi-tive learning environment. At Camp KangaZoo, choose one or both week-long sessions: “Battle of the Biomes” or “Ecology – Everything’s Connected.” Explore animal habits and habitats, play games, meet animals, enjoy sing-a-longs, perform skits and more. On Thursday evening sleep at the Zoo and wake up with the birds. Sessions start June 11 for students entering grades 1 to 6. The College School (962-9355) of-fers themed day camps for ages 4 to 11 and multi-day expeditions for ages 9 to 15. The Lindbergh School District Ac-tivities Department (729-2400 x4908, [email protected]) offers a summer enrichment program for stu-dents in grades 1 to 8. Program dates are June 11 to 28, Monday to Thurs-day from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Stu-dents will have an opportunity to ex-plore many new avenues from music to sports. Families have the flexibility of registering students weekly and per class. Over 30 different classes will be offered. The program this year will be housed at Truman Middle School, 12225 Eddie and Park Road, in the Lindbergh School District. Pegasus campers engage their bodies and minds by exploring science, tech-nology, visual arts, athletics, swim-ming and a variety of unique hobbies on the state-of-the-art campus of Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School (MICDS). Three two-week sessions are offered in 2012, and will be led by creative and caring professional teachers teamed with select college and high school counselors. YMCA Camp Lakewood is a co-ed summer residential camp for ages 6 to 17, located 75 miles south of St. Louis be-tween Potosi and Steelville. Set amidst 5,000 beautiful woodland acres with a private 360-acre lake, Camp Lakewood is a true escape. Campers can attend the Traditional Summer Camp Program, participate in the Ranger Program, ex-perience off-site adventures with Expe-dition or Trail Blazer programs, work on leadership skills in the Leaders In Training Program, or focus on a special elective of the regular camp program like Horsemanship.
