2 | Education Handbook - Bundanon | Bundanon Trust
Bundanon Trust is the gift of renowned artist Arthur Boyd and his family to the Australian people. Our visual arts and design programs are inspired by the cultural, environmental and architectural heritage of Bundanon Trust. View and discuss the artistic heritage of four generations of the Boyd Family through a tour of the Homestead. Explore the arts practice of Arthur Boyd through a visit to his studio. Engage in workshops in the landscape and inspired by the river, rocks and bushland at Bundanon. During 2020 and 2021, we are conducting our education programs from the Bundanon property,

WATER & POWER USEHOT WATER & CONSERVATIONAs part of its greening program, Bundanon Trust has installed solar panels on the roofs of the AIR Complex. All residences have reverse cycle air conditioning units. Please be mindful of power and water usage.
Please turn off appliances, lights, fans and air conditioners when not in use, and close external doors and windows while the air conditioning is in use.
Please assist Bundanon Trust to conserve water through encouraging students to have showers for no longer that 3 minutes.
Hot water and electricity is produced through solar means, with grid back up. For this reason, you will need to ensure that the group’s showers are staggered between the following times:
MorningLate afternoonEvening
Otherwise the hot water might run out!
WATER TYPESAll water plumbed in the AIR Complex is treated potable(drinkable) rainwater, according to our water quality assurance program. Washing water for art workshops is untreated water and must not be used for drinking. Drinking water is provided in the Homestead kitchen courtyard. Water in the public toilets at Bundanon is bore water and must not be drunk.
SEWERAGE & SEPTIC SYSTEMBundanon relies on its own septic system. No materials other than toilet paper can be used in the toilets. Use receptacles provided.
14 | Education Handbook - Bundanon | Bundanon Trust
SAFETY PRECAUTIONSPower failureIn case of power failure, the phones and Wi-Fi will not work.
Water tank pumps will also not work, meaning you will not have access to water in your residence for bathroom or kitchen use. Therefore it is important to always keep your water bottle full for drinking.
There are emergency blackout kits in the Sherman/Gonski kitchen, containing a lantern, spare batteries, tea-light candles, mosquito coils and a lighter. These are for staff use only.
It is advisable to keep your devices charged at all times during your stay. There is an emergency phone in a box outside Gonski studio which can be used in an emergency.
Emergency ProceduresPlease follow the instruction of Bundanon Trust staff during emergencies throughout normal or office hours. After hours, teachers and group leaders will be responsible for manging evacuation to the Homestead Kitchen Car Park- see map following.
Activities and agendas will be modified in the event of a severe weather event to protect visitors. Evacuation and cancellation may occur during extreme weather events or where a Catastrophic Rating has been issued by the Rural Fire Service and when access to the properties is dangerous or limited. This is managed by Bundanon Trust Crisis Management Team. If this is necessary, Bundanon Trust will make transport arrangements for you, if you do not have a vehicle to exit the property.
Fire HazardsFires are not permitted.
Snakes, spiders and other stingersThere are snakes, spiders, mosquitos and ticks at Bundanon. To prevent being bitten, please wear appropriate clothing when bushwalking and wear covered toe shoes at all times when outside.
FarmBundanon is a working farm and contains hazards such as machinery, cattle, electric fencing and ponds Cattle grazing areas on the property are leased to an external farmer. Please be aware that there is no public access to paddocks.
Wildlife & Pest ManagementThe Bundanon and Riversdale properties are wildlife refuges, surrounded by substantial areas of natural bush supporting many threatened species. Please be mindful and do not approach, disturb or feed the wildlife. Watch out for wombat holes and other environmental hazards.
Part of the care of the Bundanon Trust Collection and Heritage Precinct is to guard against possible rodent and insect activity. Please do not leave food out or garbage uncovered as it will attract rodents and other pests. Please be mindful of rodent bait stations located around the property outside of buildings as they contain poison and should not be handled.
