DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND POLICY STUDIES EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND POLICY PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP/ADMINISTRATION (EDA) The mission of the Educational Leadership and Administration specialization is to develop and enhance dynamic, high-performing leadership for the renewal and improvement of schools and school systems. Our program is designed to help those in leadership roles to provide effective leadership for teaching-learning. We offer several degree options in this major area: Master’s (online only) Modified (certification only) Specialist Ed.D. Ph.D. EDUCATION POLICY AND EVALUATION (EPE) The major in Educational Policy and Evaluation prepares individuals for policy and evaluation-related careers that involve designing, developing, implementing, analyzing and evaluating federal, state and local educational policies. At the doctoral level, students are also prepared to teach at colleges and universities. It incorporates a core of policy and evaluation courses with courses in the humanities, social sciences, and research methods. At the doctoral level students are required to complete a strong core of courses in advanced research methods, in addition to policy and evaluation courses. We offer several degree options in this major area: Master’s Ph.D. Ed.D. Certificates in: - Policy - Program Evaluation SOCIAL, HISTORICAL AND PHILOSOPHICAL FOUNDATIONS OF EDUCATION (SHPFE) The SHPFE majors attempts to understand the social, historical, and philosophical context of educational policy and practice in the U.S. and internationally. The interdisciplinary nature of the SHPFE major allows us to welcome prospective students from a variety of academic backgrounds in education, the humanities and the social sciences to courses. We offer two degree options in this major area: Master’s Ph.D. SOCIOCULTURAL AND INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION STUDIES (SIDES) The mission of the SIDES major is to prepare students to assume leadership roles in international and multicultural education through: Conduct of issue- or policy-oriented research and evaluation; Design, implementation, and administration of educational change projects in varied settings; Management of international and multicultural education programs of different types; Teaching related subject matter in colleges, universities, and adult education programs; and Providing consulting services to agencies, foundations, and governments in order to help improve decision-making and policy choices about international and multicultural education.
