WelcomeDear Friends and Families,

Education Unlimited was founded in 1993 with the mission of creating summer programs held on top college campuses to give high school students the best possible chance of gaining acceptance into the college of their choice. More than 20 years and 20,000 campers later, Education Unlimited is one of the nation’s leading summer academic enrichment program providers. While our program offerings have grown considerably, we still maintain our original commitment to hire only the highest caliber instructors and provide programs that are both academically challenging and socially enriching.

Prior attendees and their parents often confirm that our academic sessions provide access to top-notch curricula and the very best teachers with whom kids have ever worked. Our programs have received exceptional camper family reviews, with the vast majority of participating families saying they would recommend the program they attended to others. I believe this is the single most important measure of overall program quality, and Education Unlimited’s nearly perfect score in this area can give you confidence that we are the best choice for your family.

For more information about our summer programs, visit our website at www.educationunlimited.com or call an admission coordinator at 510-548-6612. Please feel free to contact us if we can provide further information. This coming summer promises to be exceptional, and we hope you’ll join us! Sincerely,

Matthew FraserEducation UnlimitedFounder and Executive Director

We encourage students to enroll with friends, but even those who don’t arrive knowing someone will end up with a group of newly-found friends, usually from across the US and around the world. The demographics of attendees for any given trip, of course, cannot be predicted. Housing is provided with students each having their own bed, usually in doubles or triples. Most overnight stays are at business class hotels. We stay in the main areas – near top attractions – when feasible. We may occasionally stay in a campus dorm/residence hall to get a feel of campus living.

Meals are provided, though some students bring some spending money for snacks or optional food items (or souvenirs!). All essential items of room, board and transportation are provided during the trips.

Education Unlimited’s Elite College Tours allow students to visit and experience life at numerous colleges in an organized and chaperoned week-long trip. Our college tours make this experience an enriching and fun summer adventure, in which students take campus tours, have meetings with admissions representatives and receive materials to evaluate each school.

Tour participants are shown how to get the most out of their future college visits. For example, students learn what questions they should be asking of campus officials, how to compare schools to one another, and what factors are most important for their personal college selection process. Many tours are led by the admissions office staff, others by personnel provided by Education Unlimited, depending on the campus and tour dates. Students visit a wide variety of campuses, including private and public schools in both urban and rural areas. Participants will complete the tour better able to determine if a large or small school is appropriate for them. And, with the comparison materials we give them, they will be able to review their opinions once they’ve returned home.

Leadership & the LawLOCATION GEORGETOWN

GRADES 9TH – 12TH

DURATION 7 DAYS | 6 NIGHTS

Leadership and the Law offers students the unique opportunity to better their public speaking skills through activities that explore the cross-section of leadership and law in America’s history and marketplace. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of the American Legal System by engaging in a mock trial. During this, students will focus on delivery skills and critical thinking, particularly through the practice of in depth cross examination. Alongside the week-long trial, each student develops a presentation known as a Vision Project. This activity asks them to imagine themselves in the role of student leader, creating a pet project - community event, website, initiative, etc. - with all its requisite legal and logistical challenges. Through this project students practice deep collaboration, brainstorming, and presentation skills.

American Legal Experience offers high school students a unique opportunity to learn public speaking skills through a focus on the American government and judicial system. Two programs are offered: Mock Trial, offered at Stanford University, and Leadership and the Law, held in Washington, D.C.

Mock TrialLOCATION STANFORD

GRADES 9TH – 12TH

DURATION 7 DAYS | 6 NIGHTS

ALE Mock Trial offers high school students a unique opportunity to learn public speaking skills through a concentrated focus on the American judicial system. The adversarial nature of the American legal system places a premium on effective communication and persuasion through well-reasoned arguments. Our focus on this system provides students with an exciting and challenging medium for the development of speaking skills. Mock Trial participants work with a directing attorney, and other specialized instructors, to learn the structure of the court systems, proper methods of the formation and presentation of convincing legal arguments. As part of this learning process, students will be directly exposed to the basics of certain substantive areas of law, including constitutional, criminal and tort law, and rules of evidence.

English Immersion: LeadershipLOCATION UC BERKELEY

GRADES 9TH – 12TH

DURATION 6 DAYS | 5 NIGHTS

During the second week of the program the focus will shift to leadership. Students will gain the confidence to interact appropriately in

Education Unlimited has taken two of our most popular programs, Public Speaking and Leadership, and developed them into a dynamic new program for English language learners.

This unique program will welcome intermediate to advanced intermediate students from around the world who wish to improve their English skills in an immersive, fun and supportive atmosphere. Students will experience the beautiful UC Berkeley campus, as they live in the Berkeley residence halls and eat their meals in a campus dining hall. As they are immersed in the heart of this prestigious university, students will interact daily with native speakers to gain confidence and fluency.

Students may choose from the following 1 and 2-week options:

formal and informal social situations. They will learn the appropriate ways to work in a group as they participate in daily fun, hands on activities. This week is constructed with the view that the most significant way to encourage students into earning and taking real future leadership roles is to develop the skills and capabilities that will enable students to speak up in class or the workplace, solve problems creatively and to communicate with confidence. Towards that end students will learn how to communicate effectively in a group setting.

Te r m s a n d c o n d i t i o n s , a n d FA QEnrollment Policies

Fee Schedule Families may pay in full upon application for any program, otherwise a deposit that is credited toward the cost of the camp is required upon application. Deposits are not refundable unless our Tuition Protection Plan is purchased at the time of application. Similarly, some special offers require full payment upon application; all monies paid under such an offer are forfeited in the event of cancellation unless the Tuition Protection Plan is purchased at the time of application or other exceptions are made specific to that offer. Payment for any remaining balance is due 45 days before the first day of the program (60 days for College Tours) for which the student is enrolled. For Summer Focus, payment is due 60 days prior to the start of the program or when we register for classes at UC Berkeley, whichever comes first. If the final payment is not made at least 45 days before the start of the program (or 60 days for Summer Focus), residential/overnight spots are subject to cancellation or reassignment and all monies paid toward the program are subject to forfeit. If all payments and forms are not completed at least 7 days before the start of the program, a late charge of $100 will be added to the family account and must be paid prior to registration.

Enrollment Process Once an application has been received for any of our programs by mail or online, the enrollment process begins and all money paid toward the program is nonrefundable from this point on unless the Tuition Protection Plan is purchased upon initial application. Failure to complete the enrollment process for any of our programs also results in the forfeiture of any/all money paid unless the Tuition Protection Plan has purchased, and then all rules regarding refunds and our Tuition Protection Plan are applicable. The responsibility lies with the family/student to complete the enrollment process by the due date stated in the enrollment packet (these packets are generally posted in April and May as final campus details are confirmed). College Admission Prep Camp, Prep Camp Excel and A+ programs require the submission of official or unofficial transcripts for all grades completed at time of application. Summer Focus, A+ programs and CAPC Intensive require a minimum 3.0 GPA. Summer Focus requires the submission of official transcripts, at least one academic letter of recommendation and the completion of a phone interview. All programs require that the student/family review and return camp enrollment forms (i.e. medical release forms, rules and regulations forms, enrollment agreement) and required payments and damage and/or key deposits sent to them by Education Unlimited. If, once the enrollment process is complete, a student is not accepted into an Education Unlimited program, all monies paid will be refunded.

If Education Unlimited changes the dates of a program, we will notify camper families enrolled in that session as soon as we are aware of the change. Once we notify you, you will have 10 days to decide whether to keep your enrollment in the program or cancel for a refund. If you cancel in writing within 10 days of us notifying you of the change of dates, we will fully refund your tuition payment and tuition protection plan premium (and any other incidentals you may have purchased, such as airport shuttle fees, etc.). If you do not notify us in writing of your wish to cancel within 10 days of the date change, then you agree that your enrollment will be transferred to the new program dates and that our standard cancellation policies and Tuition Protection Plan policies apply from that point forward.

Security Deposits Two separate damage and key deposits of $135 each are required. Charges for damage to furniture or building structure will be levied against these deposits. Forfeiture of deposit will also result if keys are not returned upon departure.

Tuition Assistance and Scholarships Need-based aid is available. See our website for details. We encourage all interested students to apply. Initial deposits must accompany all applications. Tax forms are required for consideration. For more information email us at [email protected].

Fees Cover Residential program fees cover all classes, residence hall or hotel lodging for the duration of the program, all meals, all required workbooks and materials, planned recreational and evening activities, and camp memorabilia. ***Day camp fees cover all classes, all required workbooks and materials, and camp memorabilia.

Fees Do Not Cover Residential program fees do not include transportation to and from the program site (except Tours), optional $5 for camp shirt, optional calling card, spending and laundry money. ***Day camp fees do not cover lodging and meals, transportation to and from the program site, optional $5 for camp shirt, or spending money.

Student Responsibilities and Conduct Students are expected to attend all scheduled events, classes, and seminars. Students must conduct themselves in a mature and responsible manner, following all program and/or school/University guidelines and fully respecting the rights of others. After application and upon acceptance to the program, students will be sent a follow-up packet with final enrollment materials. All forms must be completed, signed, and returned to Education Unlimited before a student may participate in any Education Unlimited program.

Visit educationunlimited.com for a complete and up-to-date version of our enrollment policies.

No incidental damages. All parties agree that Education Unlimited’s liability is limited by the posted refund policies and regardless, under no circumstances shall exceed the camp tuition paid by the camper family, nor shall Education Unlimited be held liable for any incidental damages.

International Students See our website for international student enrolment policies. www.educationunlimited.com/international.enrollment.

Tuition Protection Plan (TPP) and Change Protection Plan (CPP) Our Tuition Protection Plan and Change Protection Plans provide for a refund or credit (including the normally non-refundable deposit but not the insurance premium itself ) if camp enrollment is cancelled by the client family with written notification prior to the start of the program, according to the schedule on our website. The amount of refund or credit due is determined on the basis of the amount that was due at the time any change or cancellation is made. The Tuition Protection Plan and Cancellation Protection Plans can only be purchased on initial application. Plans may be added within 72 hours of registration if the camp start date is at least 21 days away. As all cancellations are by their nature unexpected, we recommend all families purchase either the Tuition Protection Plan or the Change Protection Plan upon application. The amount of a refund with the Tuition Protection Plan or the Change Protection Plan is determined by the time of cancellation notification, as outlined on our website at educationunlimited.com/pages/refund_policy

Switching Programs Because Education Unlimited incurs many nonrecoverable fees once a student has enrolled in a program, switching from one program to another is considered to be two different transactions, (1) cancellation of the first camp and (2) enrollment in the second camp. Families that have purchased the TPP for the cancelled program will be refunded the full amount due per our cancellation insurance refund schedule. For families that have not purchased this cancellation coverage, the camp fees paid are nonrefundable and cannot be transferred to the new camp.

Note: For the purposes of Massachusetts law, Education Unlimited only operates summer programs, not camps.
