End of Term Term 4 is rapidly drawing to a close. There are just four and a
half weeks left of the school term.
Teachers are busily preparing Student Reports and making
preparation for the end of year presentations.
As the term draws to a close, families are requested to check their homes carefully for library books or readers which belong
to the school. Could these be returned immediately so that
stocktakes can commence?
There are also a large number of items of lost property still at school. Parents are welcome to visit the school to claim items
which belong to their child. Any items left at the end of the
year will be donated to other families.
Election of 2016 Student Leaders Nominating Year 5 students have been presenting their
speeches to the students and staff this week. Students in Years
1 to 5 will vote on the 2016 student leaders for our school this week.
We wish nominating students well in their presentations.
The announcement and badging of school leader for 2016 will take place on presentation night.

Stage 3 Excursion We are only a few days away and anticipation and enthusiasm is mounting – along with some understandable
nervousness. Parents should have received a final notice last week which accompanied all students and most
questions should have now been answered. Please don’t hesitate to contact he school if further clarification is
needed.

handed to teachers before departure

departure , clearly labelled with your child’s name and
accompanied by details of dosage, times, etc.
Any $10 spending money that parents would prefer
teachers to keep-safe is given to staff in a named

The bus will depart at 7am on Sunday. Please be
at school 15 minutes prior to this time with suit cases lined up along footpath for quick loading.
Students should have their backpack, drink bottles,
packed recess, lunch and afternoon tea, bus activities (eg. novel, playing cards, colouring book, pens/

Book Week 2015 ‘Books Light Up Our World’
Christmas Book Fair
Thank you! What a wonderful success. With close to
$3000 worth of books sold, we now have approx $600 to spend on purchasing new books for the library.
A big thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair.
Mrs Druitt & Mrs Mulham
Kindergarten Excursion The students and staff of KGD would like to thank Mr and Mrs Michael for allowing us to conduct our excursion to
their farm on Friday 13th November. Also a big thank you to Catherine, Henry and Jack Michael for organising some
fantastic activities for our students and providing lots of information about farm animals.
The students enjoyed the experience immensely and learned many aspects about farm life.
After the farm visit we went to the RSL park where we had a BBQ lunch and play break.
Thanks also to the Deniliquin Library staff for providing the
class with a ‘storytime session’ and allowing the students
to explore the resources the library has to offer. Peter did a wonderful job of entertaining the students with his
stories and kept them enthralled throughout the time we were there.
A super day was had by all involved. The students were very excited to participate in the great learning experience.
Stage One Excursion Last Thursday, Year 1 and 2 students travelled to
Echuca for their annual excursion. The students have
been studying the topic “Now and Then” in history lessons and the excursion provided a perfect
opportunity to get a feel for life in the past.
The students enjoyed a 1 hour cruise on the PS
Pevensey, where they were able to see a steam engine in operation powering the paddles and to view the
kitchen, sleeping quarters and the drop toilet. There were lots of funny comments about that. Several
passengers on the paddle steamer complemented the excellent behaviour of the students.
Following the cruise two guides took the students on a tour of the wharf and its precinct. We saw the maker
that designates where NSW and Victoria meet, and checked in the rail cars to see some of the old tools
used by the railway men who loaded cargo from the
paddle steamers onto rail cars to travel to Melbourne.
The students learnt lots of interesting facts about the
various types of paddle steamer that went up and down the river in the 1800, including a floating church, a
hawker and even a ‘grog’ boat. They also heard that the wharf used to be 332metres long, which is 5 times its
current length.
Following the tour it was time to board the bus for the
Moama Adventure Playground. We all had lunch under one of the shelters provided and then spent 45 minutes
playing on the playground. Everyone was so excited and had a fabulous time playing make believe games in the
fort structures and using the swings.
We were lucky enough to avoid any nasty weather and
had a pleasant return trip to Deniliquin. Thank you to all of the additional adults who helped with supervision and
a big thankyou to the students. All of the adults were
very proud of your excellent behaviour. You all demonstrated the school values and respect,
responsibility and safety. Well done.

At the P&C meeting last Tuesday night the P&C voted to support the school in its technology plan. We have agreed
to donate over $6000, which will be matched dollar for dollar by the school, to purchase a new bank of IPads for our children to use. Edward is at the forefront of using technology in education. This donation is only possible be-
cause of the hard work of so many people at this year’s fete, which raised $7000. As always, the hard work of the P&C directly benefits every child at our school.
It was great to see so many children and families at the first Kinder transition on Thursday. Thanks to Sarah Her-berte for her work preparing the Uniform display for the new parents. A reminder to all parents that the P&C oper-
ate the Uniform Shop as a service to families. We operate at just over cost, selling high quality uniforms. Orders can be placed with the office, or our great Office ladies can help as well. Laybys are welcome- so you can get or-
ganised for next year’s uniform needs.
Thanks so much to all of the parents and staff members who have supported the P&C during the year.
