Coles Sports For Schools- help us get free sports equipment

We are registered as part of the Coles Sports For Schools Programme. For every $10 spent

at Coles, customers will receive a voucher. You can then deposit the vouchers directly into

our EPS collection bin at the Castle Plaza

Coles or bring them to school to deposit into the

collection bins in the Front Office area.

The promotion lasts for 8 weeks and we hope

you can help us get free sporting equipment.

The more vouchers we collect, the more

equipment we get, so ask friends and relatives

to collect for us too. Thanks!

This week we introduce our class teachers. Our teachers work in professional learning teams (PLTs) with children of a similar age, and planning and programming is a shared learning experience.

Receptions: our youngest children are situated together and share a play based programme, with a focus on Jolly Phonics and an introduction to maths strategies. Our teachers are Alex Yin, Jordan Wallis and Charlotte Candlish.

Year 1/2: our team of Year 1 and 1/2 teachers continue to foster a growth mindset where children develop learner powers of communication, collaboration, self-managers, thinkers and researchers. Investigation through play fosters social skills, independence and creativity. Teachers are Sheridan Weber, Megan Colmer/Toni Hall, Robyn Collins, Elise Davies and Kendall

Proud.

Year 3, 3/4 and 4: middle primary teachers develop powerful learners with opportunities for deeper learning and encouragement to be brave and do your best. Students are given opportunities to develop persistence and resilience through challenging tasks Bernie O'Connor and self-managed behaviour. Sarah Newton, Rachel Bell, Ebony Drake and Bernie O'Connor work together.

Our 4/5, 5 and 5/6 teachers, Helena Lambrinos, Eva Pontikinas (Shane Atkins Friday) and Caroline Fitzgerald form a sub group of Middle Primary.

Year 6/7: senior students are offered a differentiated programme with a gradual emphasis on self-responsibility and management, as well as increased opportunities to engage with multiple learning technologies. A community service programme reinforces the students' responsibilities with a global perspective with Morgan Scottney Turbill, Martin Richards and Laura Potts.

Our Specialist teachers Sue Boggiano, Lyn Empen, Erin Hodges, Joy Groves and Georgia Gaitanis offer specialist curriculum from Reception – Year 7 students.

Lastly our reliable team of SSO’s Linda Hillman, Laura Miles, Kelly Elliott, Simone Morrison, Liza Button, Terri Watson Louise Dono, Jen Goodman, Jim Goudie and Judy Fitzpatrick Absent: Cymone Harriss, Steve Burgoyne, VG

Shave away for CCA!

In 2013, when I was 7 years old, my baby sister Holly, was diagnosed with Leukaemia. She

was only 4 months old.

Holly stayed in the Women’s and Children’s Hospital with Mum. She got very, very sick from

the chemotherapy and her hair fell out. Dad took my brother Max and I into the hospital

every day to visit. We met other great kids with cancer too, all of them lost their hair.

Holly was in hospital for about 7 months. She died a few weeks before her 1st birthday. The

Childhood Cancer Association helped Holly and our family while she was sick and they

still support us.

Chris, Anna and Elliot, the CCA mascot, would talk to me and Max about how we were

feeling and would make sure we were all OK.

CCA organises special events for the sick kids and their families and bring special visitors

into the hospital. I even got to hang out and kick the footy with Port Adelaide Power Captain,

Travis Boak!

CCA do an incredible job helping families affected by childhood cancer.

Holly would have started school at EPS this year. I thought it would be a good milestone to

mark by raising money to help other kids with cancer and their families.

I started growing my hair in July 2016, when a few people said it reminded them of Rory

Sloan’s hair! But, now it’s time for it to go!

At Assembly in week 5, I will CUT MY HAIR for wig donation and SHAVE MY HEAD to raise

important funds for The Childhood Cancer Association.

Please help me support CCA, by bringing a gold coin

donation on this day and cheering me on!

Thanks Edwardstown Primary School
