The widow of William Vlodica, she is survived byfour sons, Michael Vlodica of Newmarket, JohnVlodica of Simi Valley, Peter Vlodica of Clackamas,Ore., and Larry Vlodica of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; onedaughter, Mrs. Gail Swanson of Morgan Hill, Calif.; sixgrandchildren; and her mother, Mrs. Irene Allen ofNewmarket.

Marie Valliere, 66, of 5 Bay Road,Newmarket, died at 2:15 a.m. Fri-day. A hospital spokeswoman wo~dnot comment on the nature of the m-juries, but state police said Ms. ,:al-liere was taken to the Boston hospitalby Med-Flight from Exeter Hospitalafter suffering a broken neck.

Also injured in the accident wasMs. Valliere's sister, Bertha Pel-letier, 73, of 4 New Road, Newmar-ket. She was discharged from Exet~rHospital Tuesday after being admit-ted with multiple trauma. Ms. Pel-letier was driving a 1991Oldsmobilesedan.

Also involved in the accident wasRobert Wickham, 51, of 9 WindingBrook Drive, Stratham. He was driv-ing a 1990 Lincoln Continental andwas not injured.

The accident occurred at 9:18 a.m.in front of the SPCA in Stratham. Ac-cording to state police, both carswere traveling east when the Pel-letier vehicle hit the Rickham vehi-cle in the rear. The Rickham vehiclehad stopped to make a left turn ontoEmery Lane, and the Pelletier ve~-cle did not adequately reduce Itsspeed, police said. .

Ms. Valliere was a passenger. mthe right front seat of the Pelletiervehicle.

Stratham and Greenland police re-sponded to the scene, as did theStratham and Exeter ambulancesand Stratham Fire Department per-sonnel.

She was employed for severalyears at the Sam Smith Shoe Co.,Newmarket, and was recently em-ployed at Phillips Exeter Academy.

He owned and oper-ated the Colonial Luncheonette in New-market, was a teacher and guidancecounselor in Newmarket and Eppingschools and retired in 19.75 after 10years as supervisor of New HampshireSeacoast State Parks.

He was a member of the NewmarketHistorical Society.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs.Harriet Carpenter Varney of New-market; two daughters, Mrs. Roger(Jan) Philbrick of Rye and Mrs. Jo-seph (Jaquelyn) Walsh of Newmarket;two sons, Kenneth M. River Park, died Sunday, Sept. 27 at Beth Israel Hospital,Boston.

Born on May 6, 1925 in Newmarket, she was thedaughter of Israel and Sarah (St. Cyr) Demers, and wasa lifelong resident of Newmarket.

She attended Newmarket schools and was a communi-cant of St. Mary's Church.

Employed for several years at the Sam Smith Shoe Com-pany of Newmarket, she was recently employed by PhillipsExeter Academy.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Valliere,who died in 1978.

Lampasas, Texas, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1993 in a localhospital.

Mr. Varney was born Oct. 21, 1934 in Dover, and hadlived in Lampasas County for more than 30 years. He mar-ried Pamela Hughes on Feb. 19, 1956 in Kempner.

Mr. Varney was a professional jockey and trainer from1959 to 1962. He was also very well known as a masterfulwood craftsman, working on the restoration of the court-house, jail, Catholic church, Cauthen House, drive-in bank,and many of Lampasas' historical homes. He was a cab-inet maker-refinisher, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.He attended the First Baptist Church in Lampasas.

Marion Clock Varney

(June 24, 1917 - October 25, 2011)

Dover – Marion (Clock) Varney, 94, formerly of Jensen’s Park and previously of Hersey Lane, Newmarket, died

October 25, 2011 at Riverside Rest Home in Dover.

Born June 24, 1917 in Exeter, she was the daughter of Herman A. and Bessie (Dearborn) Clock.

Marion and her husband Basil opened their own Laundromat in Newmarket.

They owned and operated Varney’s Laundry for several years. Marion and

Basil later became very valuable friends and helpers and a special part of the

Douglas Wheeler Family of Durham. She worked for the family from 1977 –

2000, retiring at the age of 83.

She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, George “Basil” Varney who

died in 2005, 5 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service for Marion & George “Basil” Varney will be held on

Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Holbrook Cemetery, Candia.

Allen “Mike” Vlodica

Allen “Mike” Vlodica, 65, of Langs Lane, died October 29, 2011 at Oceanside of Hampton.

Born December 31, 1945 in Exeter, NH, he was the son of William and Irene Frances (Allen) Vlodica. He lived most of his

life in Newmarket.

Mike received his engineering degree in California, and was employed at the Portsmouth

Naval Shipyard as a Mechanical Engineer for many years.

At the age of 21 Mike ran as a write in candidate for Town Selectman and won. He also

served on the Town Council and as a member of the ZBA.

Mike enlisted in the National Guard and his Unit was mobilized and he served in

Vietnam. He was a member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Post #67.

Mike loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He liked to spend

time outdoors, hunting, fishing and walking.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alice (Dziedzic) Vlodica; 2 daughters, Michele

McNeil and her husband Patrick and his son Quinn, Jill Krunklevich and her partner Bob

Hoelzel and his son Zachary; three grandchildren, Justin and Aidan Gehly and David Krunklevich; his mother-in-law, Rita

Dziedzic; brothers, Larry and Peter Vlodica; sister, Gail Swanson; and several nieces and nephews.

Per Mike’s wishes there will be no services.

The family would like to thank the staff at Oceanside for the care given to Mike while he was there. Rather than flowers
