We are producing mobile self standing acrylic Countertop Safety Shields/Sneeze Guards for registers, counters, o�ce desks and other areas that customers deal with business employees.

Safety Shields provide a clear, sanitary-positive barrier at point-of-sale to improve health and safety, while preserving friendly, face-to-face customer interaction. The shields are highly stable, yet lightweight for convenient mobility from one counter space to another, if needed. They are manufactured of tough, durable, thick 1/4" and 1/8" acrylic and are cleanable with only a warm dish washing soap solution or with a Hydrogen Peroxide 3-5% mix with water. If you use other disinfectants to clean the material it will cloud up, over time.

Why are face shields more effective than face masks?

A recent piece published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, written by medical professionals at the University of Iowa, states that “face shields appear to signi�cantly reduce the amount of inhalation exposure to in�uenza virus, another droplet-spread respiratory virus.”

Amesh Adalja, M.D., a pandemic preparedness expert at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security says that face shields may be even “better than other types of masks, because they not only prevent you from spreading it but also covers your eyes which provides more protection to the mucous membranes of your face where you might be getting infected.”

In comparison to shields, face masks can be hot, irritate the skin, fog glasses, and make it di�cult for some to breathe. It can also leave those who have hearing loss at a disadvantage to communicate when mouths are covered, mu�ing voices and hiding facial expressions. The clear covering on shields allows for not only continued communication using common practices, but is also signi�cantly more comfortable than a mask.

Additionally, the Journal of American Medical Association also published that in a simulated study, face shields were “shown to reduce immediate viral exposure by 96 percent when worn by a simulated health care worker within 18 inches of a cough.”

Face shields are something that can be reused inde�nitely and are easily cleaned with soap and warm water - or a 3% hydrogen peroxide/water solution. In order to minimize the medical and economic consequences, it becomes important to accurately and rapidly assess the ever-evolving situation so that proper containment strategies are implemented. Therefore including face shields as part of strategies would signi�cantly reduce transmission in community and school settings.
