• 4 assistant requests completed (for NDA and DATEX)
• 1 call for procurement launched
AHAW
7 scientific opinions adopted among which
- ticks as vector of African Swine Fever
- geographical distribution of ticks-borne diseases
- implications of current H1N1 for animal health
• Network on Risk Assessment in AHAW met
• Technical meeting with Stakeholders was held (discussion on animal welfare during
transport)

• 9 opinions adopted among which
• - Salmonella typhimurium-like strains
- use of recycled hot water as a decontaminant for carcasses
- irradiation of food (efficacy and microbiological safety)
- application format for ABP new alternative methods
- Neste oil application for ABP disposal
• Meeting of EFSA Scientific Network on BSE/TSE
• Organization of workshop on “Animal By-Products:Biogas and Composting Rules”

• 146 opinions adopted : application opinion on flavourings and FMC
- Toxicity of Bisphenol A
• ESCO working group met on non plastics food contact materials and collected 3200
evaluations from MS experts

• 2 statements on herbs and essential oils; guidelines for new functional group
substances for mycotoxins reduction;
• 2 reports were published
• Technical meeting with experts from industry to present guidance for “substances for
the reduction by mycotoxins)

• 2 opinions : composting method to eliminate pine wood nematode
• 1st Meeting of EFSA scientific network for risk assessment in plant health took place

• 2 opinions: ERA of plant protection products (Ecoregions mandate; protection goals)
• 1 public consultation report on exposure assessment published

• 29th September: - technical meeting with environmental NGOs
- Meeting with Member States representatives on the
ERA guidance document
• Update of guidance document on environmental risk assessment of
gm plants adopted
• 5 opinions adopted among which : 2GM maize, allergenicity of GM
plants, GM microorganisms and derived food and feed, molecular
characterisation of Rf3 oilseed rape
• 2 guidance documents published for public consultation: 1)
Guidance on the risk assessment of genetically modified
microorganisms and their food and feed products; 2) draft document
on the selection of comparators for the risk assessment of GM
plants. Both opened until January for comments.

• 175 opinions adopted (under articles Art. 13.5, Art. 14 and Art. 13.1
of Regulation 1924/2006)
+ (5 novel food opinions, 3 generic opinions)
• 2 guidance documents were published for public consultation 1)
draft guidance on the scientific requirements for health claims
related to gut and immune function, to be read in conjunction with
the 2) briefing document for stakeholders on the evaluation of Article
13.1, 13.5 2 and 14 health claims
• 2nd December Technical meeting with stakeholders related to gut
and immune functions

zoonotic bacteria from food and animals
• Scientific report on risk factors associated with Campylobacter
contamination of broiler carcasses in EU wide baseline survey

meat inspection of swine and other slaughter animals
