A bridging document explains the relationship between
UNFC-2009 and another classification system, including instructions
and guidelines on how to classify estimates generated by application of
that system using the UNFC-2009 Numerical Codes.
(PRMS, CRIRSCO, NEA/IAEA, …RF2013 …..)
A mapping document highlights the similarities and
differences between systems applied to the same or similar commodity .
(RF2013 prelim)
A specification document provides commodity-specific
rules on applying UNFC-2009 to other energy sources and related
projects.
(Injection Projects for Geological Storage) (Renewables Specifications)
Case studies test application of UNFC-2009.
(Uranium/Thorium)

Estimates reported using UNFC-2009 should be comparable with no
significant difference to those that would result from the application of the
classification system for which Bridging documents have already been
endorsed (i.e. Aligned Systems).
What’s Changed in 2015-16?
15
For the first time we reviewed bridging/mapping documents related to a
commodity for which we already have in-place an approved aligned and
internationally recognized system.
How do we ensure that the resulting UNFC-2009 classes and categories
are comparable and consistent irrespective of the source system?
